Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Pt.32 Visit with Friends

guess what came today!! My SP gift!

its a gorgeous top and 3/4 pants... lovely and summery... i feel very spoiled. we cant get nice clothes over here for big girls....
if i want a shirt i have to pay $169!!! just for the shirt and being that i would be about a 5 or 6 x in tops and more in pants, they class that as a specialty and charge the earth!

so i really appreciate the thoughtfullness...

Good grief. How tall are you? If you are short, I may have some good stuff to send you. My friend has been wanting to give away some nice stuff for a while because she lost 100 lbs. She was a 22 in pants I think but she is 5'3. Most people are taller but she has tops if you are tall.

yep i am but i am bigger than a 22 i think! lol is that a 22 in australian?
and the postage may be expensive for you!
if they are a 5 or 6x then they will fit....

Morning, Laura so pleased that you got the parcel and in record time...Eezy Wear here is quite a best seller..so comfy and makes one look all dressed up..lol..

It's snowing hard today and windy but I'm sure we're going in, can't possibly be off for 5 days in a row and I'm ready for work..ribs aren't quite as sore but then I've just been up and not moving around..now it's time to get my warm clothes on and get shovelling and cleaning off the car...

So will gab with you all when I get to the office!

Morning! I've just been exhausted from the stress of getting ready for inventory. TODAY IS THE DAY THEN IT IS OVER!!!! Back to normal. Work today and tomorrow and then have a day off. But I have to do my shopping. Haven't done that for 2 weeks. Then I can put my feet up for a bit.

March 3rd the other cashier is back at work. That should give me a string of days off. Keeping fingers crossed.

Betty hope your ribs are better today and it is just cold and windy and no snow. We had winds and snow 2 days in a row. I drove one. The next day I had DH drive me in and pick me up and we went out for supper. Oh it was good. I had a huge side salad and a shrimp basket. It's so good when I don't have to cook!

My worst cooking is when I am trying to do too many things at once also. But it sure lets him know I am human! LOL

Judy Thanks for the reminder! I need to get some bins for my basement. It is an old stone foundation and leaks like a sieve. As long as we don't get a big melt down the drain in the floor handles it. This year I am going to push getting gutters on the house. That would help big time.

Have to go and get some breakfast and then do paper work.

At work, drive in was great..little icy when we first left but then improved..called for storm later today...perhaps we'll get home before it starts..

Figured out the ribs, on Sunday the plowman had come, shortly thereafter the Municipal plow..about 3' of slush/ice/snow in the drive so out I went and shovelled it..was quite heavy..forgot all about doing it..so I deserve the sore ribs..lol..

Laura, clothing goes as far as 4X I believe, but could be larger sizes..Next to work here is the manufacturers and they have discount store on-site...so for example a top such as I sent you would regularly sell for $79.99 in stores and I got it for $15.00 same for pants..but they do not ship from the discounted store..could always pick some up and ship them to you...sorry you missed out on the sewing class, next week hopefully you'll make it..

Liz, prayers go out to your family..hope some arrangements can be made with boss to allow you the time for the visit..do have a special snow rake and it was easy enough to take off that's why I couldn't understand why I was hurting so bad but then it came to me..the front drive..

Vicki, hope things settle down at work for you..not nice being run off your feet..never worked anywhere where inventory had to be taken..sounds as though it's a job in itself..know what you mean about doing 10 things while cooking, usually that's why I burn everything..did my best though this weekend and it all turned out..I've probably put of 5 lbs. just from eating all thos blueberry muffins.. I'm with you..am hoping for a slow thaw in order to avoid basement flooding..I'm prepared but would rather not have one...

Suzanne is back, nice and tanned and in need of a rest..funny, you go away for a rest and then come back in need of a rest to get over the rest..so funny!!

We just had about 30 minutes of big fluffy snow flakes..it has stopped now.

Started here quite heavily about 1/2 hr. ago..looks terrible..even the girls called from up north to say it was getting really bad..dare not ask to leave early, gee whizz we've had 4 days off..lol..we've not had lunch yet because Suzanne was in meetings...we were going to go and get hamburger, should tell Paul we'll stay till 3:45 and leave our lunch hour early..but Carol, just as I was typing it turned clear as a bell...so unpredictable isn't it...

Hi Guys, didn't get to finish reading, but will finish tomorrow when I wake up. I did want to report that my secret pal sent me some window jewelry. It is a mainly clear suncatcher with a lavender (my favorite) rim around the outside. There is an inspirational message which says "Live your life with an exclamation, not an explanation." Good words to live by.

Thanks secret pal. I will take a picture of it tomorrow.

Yes..I'm staying in..I coloured my hair..used a new shade and it turned a little redder..but it gives me a boost.
I was gvien an idea from my neighbour to try spray insulation foam on the floor of the basement to make a barrier to direct the leaking water to the sump pump..so I tried that..but I need to get more spray foam..
So I did a bit to see if it sticks to the concrete..haven't tested it yet. There hasn;t been any more leaking since the the rain we had on the weekend.

Had a chat with two friends on the phone..nothing special..I lead a very quiet life..

Oh..I re-did my Garden Notes. I have a Word document where I would add notes about what kind of plants I have, and where some are planted. What kind of trees..and so on..so I went back and did a bit of an edit..because a lot of the roses I had have since died..and last year I bought several new roses..which I hadn't put listed. Several of the perennials have since passed on too..it was a good walk down memory lane..

I have a big ten year Garden Journal where I make handwritten notes too..it was a gift from my daughter and her husband for a Mother's day in 2002. It came from Lee Valley.

Hope the trip home is safe..nice poem....a good reminder for us all..

hi there, well did take our lunch 3:30-4:30..just got in lol makes for a short afternoon, 15 minutes and we're homeward bound..I drove to Hillsdale this morning to meet Suzanne - I park in DB yard so will stop in for a short visit..it's Bingo night and I don't really feel like playing..we'll see..I'd much rather go to bed early..old age..imagine tomorrow is middle of the week, day after 'payday' and then 1/2 day Friday and it's home for the weekend..have to think of it that way so I'll enjoy the next few days...

Paul was telling me that on Monday someone drove infront of his cottage on a snowmachine, red suit and was sinking, bad ice and was sure it was Jeff..he called and left him a message because he would give him the wherefor..Jeff just called and said it wasn't him..thank goodness or I'd be worrying whenever my boys are out on snowmachines..better fix Greg's 'floater suit' then I'll feel better...

Kyle asked if he could wear my 'floater' just in case he said..that gives one plenty of confidence when they tell you they are going up the lakes..yuk..and yet I did it with Roger for years..must be age that makes me feel worried..

Carol, how easily will the foam come off the floor, know I've used it for different purposes..not something you'd want to leave right? maybe check it out...new hair color, how exciting..my hairdressor want to put 'reverse streaking' in my hair..last time I did that it turned red/purple so worried about trying it..do need something to spice myself up though...don't you just love the things in LeeValey..want to do the star raised garden this spring..the store is but 3 lights from here so maybe when weather gets better I'll drive in on a Friday and so some shopping before heading home...

Easter is so early this year..mid March..not that long away..we GoodFriday, keep trying to talk Paul into Easter Monday as well but no go..could we hope for 'blizzard weather'???

Betty THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART FOR THE STAINED GLASS MUSHI ANGEL. IT REALLY LOOKS LIKE HIM TOO EXCEPT THE EARS ARE LONG INSTEAD OF FOLDED. It is too heavy to take a chance on my window, so I won't even try because I want to put in on a pole with a chain, I think in the garden. I like and need more garden art and it will catch the light so nice there. I will get a solar spot light to spot light it too in the evening.

I know I say it is hell here in this area to garden and it is, but I swear we have the best spring(when we have spring) and summer nights in the country. We have perfect temps most years in the evening, no matter how hot it is in the day+ we have no insects so we all hang outside since it is so nice and we don't need to worry about mosquitos. I can't wait to hang in my back yard this year and especially when my angel is hanging.

The seniors one year bought me a gift...the box moved around and lo and behold it was 2 rabbits..
Then the year after Roger died they bought me another gift, I shook it and shook it and it didn't move...they all had camera's out waiting to take my photo so I carefully opened it..now these are seniors in their 70's and 80's and I KNOW I'd get kicked off Daves Garden if I said what they bought me..their hearts were in a good place...lol..lol..lol...I couldn't imagine any of these women going to specialty stores to purchase my gift...can't tell you what it was, but am sure you'll have guessed...

I don't get to the post office other than Friday afternoons because of my work schedule so guess where I'll be the next 2 Fridays...again, thank you...

Does the post not deliver packages to your front door Betty? Do you have to go to the PO to pick up anything that doesn't fit in your mailbox? That's what they do at our house. If it doesn't fit the mailbox they put a little slip in that says to pick up the package at the post office.

Will catch up on previous posts when I can. Been a busy week and I am going to the Pacific Northwest Flower and Garden Show in Seattle tomorrow and thursday! Wahoo. Love and hugs, Rachel
