Clinton has a wide swath of damage through the town. Pau said it was a mess. The man who mows MIL's lawn lost his home, all their clothes and material possessions and both cars. He and his wife had crawled UNDER their house to take shelter from the storm. The house and the foundation blew away above them but they were unhurt, thank goodness!
My MIL lives in a house that has two levels and both levels have bedrooms, living room, kitchen and bathroom so she has plenty of room for these people to stay there until they can rebuild. They are really nice people and have been good to MIL. There is a driveway and entrance to the downstairs separate from the upstairs. It is like having two houses--one being stacked on top of the other--with ground level entrances for both. They can have their privacy and come and go and not have to disturb MIL at all. I am sure it will be a while before they can rebuild. Pau loaned them his truck so they could drive to a nearby city and rent some vehicles. Their ins. co. will only pay for rental for 3 days, though. However, they can use MIL's car because she hasn't been driving the last 6 months but Pau has to get a new battery for it. It really needs to be driven so they will be doing her a favor by using it until they can get new cars.

Anyway, there was widespread destruction throughout the state and in other southern states, too. It was a bad storm. :o(((

BTW, I emailed Terry because she hasn't posted today. She hurt her foot last night but she says it isn't broken. She is staying off of it as much as she can.

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

So sorry to hear all of that, Mau! But glad MIL and the other people are ok and she is able to help them out!
Terry, get better soon!!!

(Zone 7a)

Oh, Terry! Glad it's not broken. Get back with us when you can. Heal.

Hi, everyone! Everyone made it through alive, I 'see'.

Back home from work. The store was dead tonight. Not much happened. I had to go in early and stay late. What fun to do EXTRA nothing! LOL But, that means I go in late on Friday. Woohoo! I didn't get my dinner so I'm going to get something now. Care to join me? I don't know what I'll have, though. Sugar? Salt? Both? LOL

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

I'm eating a Jimmy Dean ham and cheese croisant right now. :~)

Tolleson, AZ(Zone 9a)

Thank you Tammy !! I have now found you all again!!! I searched and searched and just could not figure out where everyone went. It will be the weekend before I can read through threads to catch up but in the mean time I missed you all!!

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Morning girls!
LOL Marie, you are welcome! :)

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

Thanks for the well wishes. I'm here, but not for long because my foot hurts. Not as bad as yesterday, but it hurts.

I see Tammy learned to do Italics. Can she do bold? Or underline?

6" of snow here. Wrecks out the ying yang.

Need to go put my foot up☻

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Good morning, all! The sun is shining and it is 50º on my backporch right now. It got down into the twenties last night, though. Our weather has certainly been on a roller coaster ride lately!

I spent the morning potting up some of the little plants from my mini-greenhouse into larger pots. The little seedlings are growing like crazy and were getting too big to leave in the little peat pots. Funny how some of those seeds sprouted so fast and some have yet to germinate.

Okay, Tammy and Terry, you have inspired me to learn how to do italics, bold and underline here on DG. I'm off to find out how.

Mau

Here are my babies as they looked this morning. These are the ones that were big enough to put in pots. these are hollyhocks and zinnias. The others are still in the mini-greenhouses.

How cute, Mau! How's Pau doing today? Feeling better?

Good morning. So, I spent my morning getting caught up on some bills. You know, the monthly yuck. I had let the cats out in the back because they were cussing me and I was tired of listening to it. Two inches of snow on the patio and they want out! Isis goes into it for half a second and then comes right back in. Monty, however, has more fur and stays out on the steps. He doesn't like to get his feet wet so he doesn't go in the snow. Smart. HA!!!

Ten minutes later, I go check on him and he's nowhere to be found! "MONTY!!!", I call. I hear this tiny meow, which is all he does. Huge cat, tiny mew. I turn to my right and what do I find?

You're going to have to wait and ask what I find. Heh heh heh

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

I'll bite. What did you find? LOL

(Zone 7a)

It won't load this pic. Now what?

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

Mau, it's easy....for Italics < I > and then < / I >, but leave out the spaces and do it only around the word or words, you want in Italics. And always add a space after the last set and before your next word. For Underline, replace the I with a U, for Bold, replace with a B. Just remember, to take out the spaces. It would look like < I > for the first part. On the last one, put the same, but add the forward slash, / . When you do your word, hit the space bar after the word before the bold or italics or underlined word, but when you're ready to make your first < I >, but don't add a space after, instead just type your word, then immediately after, type in the < / I >, but no spaces or it won't work right. Again, replace the I with either a B or a U, however you want the word or words to be. Mau but instead of [ and ], you use < and > Mau Mau all using < and this > and not [ or this ]

Thanks, Terry Terry Terry

What do you know? I did it!! :o)

Celia, cats are such funny creatures. Their antics make me laugh!!

(Zone 7a)

Huh? I don't get it. Talk to me like I'm four.

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

WTG Mau!
I knew you could do it! :)

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

Celia, what don't you get? I was asking you what you found when you turned to your right after your big cat gave a tiny mew? Also, Terry was explaining to me how to make italics, bold and underline here at DG. Now do you get it? LOL

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

LOL.

Terry, don't do what a coworker of mine did and break that foot. He broke his last year when he fell on ice. Perfect break til he decided to use the stairs at home. Fell and moved the bones out of whack. Had to have surgery and just had to have the same surgery again at midnight last night.

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

pep, there's no way I'm coordinated enough to take any steps with a broke leg, ankle, foot, or even a toe. I'd fall over trying for the first step. Did that when I broke my ankle. And that isn't fun, in fact it was quite painful.

Mau, I knew you could do it!!!

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

Now if I can continue to remember how to do it. LOL

If any of you are interested, here is a thread I started that has photos which Pau took at Clinton today of the tornado damage (or some of it).

http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/811475/

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

WOW, Terry, have you been watching the news? The shooting at Kirkwood City Hall? There are 2 Police Officers confirmed dead, and was first stated that the shooter was dead as well, then they recanted and wasn't sure! They just said there may be a 3rd and 4th person that has past away!!! :(

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

They just told that he shot a total of 7 people and 5 of them are dead! They are now saying the shooter IS dead as well!

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

Wow Mau. I've seen tornado damage up close and personal. The destruction is always total and complete. Most recent, that I didn't see the destruction except in photos, was a little town about 35 miles away, quaint historical town. Hit by a tornado on April 19, 2004. Some amazing photos out there. Just type in tornado in utica il and it brings up all sorts of images. My best friend and I did the garden walk last spring. All these homes had to start "new" gardens, as they all were destroyed. We were living in TN at the time and the builder came by to tell me. He saw it on 'Good Morning America'. I was shocked and immediately went inside to my computer. I knew people that lived in Utica.

Tammy, nothing here on the news about a Courthouse shooting. I'm off to bed, so I'll do a search for it tomorrow. Why are you doing everything in Italics??

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

I think what happened took place in California somewhere. She must have thought it was in IL.

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

No, it happened in St. Louis. And everything in italics is because of the game, something new every week.

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

For some reason, I thought it happened in California.

It's past my bedtime. Night, night, Tammy

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Night night, Mau! I'm not sure how far Terry is from St. Louis, so thought she might have seen it on there.

(Zone 7a)

Sorry, Mau. I'm confused over how to make italics and such. I don't get Terry's instructions. I'm not very bright.

(Zone 7a)

And I forget what thread I'm on where! LOL Silly me.

WOW!!! You guys are having bad stuff all over the place. Maybe you should all come stay with me and be safe. ☺

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

The sun is shining here now, Celia, and not a cloud in the sky so we are safe for now. Thanks for the offer. I've never been to Utah but would like to visit there sometime. I'll have to get a newer car before Pau and I embark on any extended trips, though.

Tammy, let me see if I can remember how to do the italics thing.

Hey, I remembered!! I'm still having trouble with the Bold. Once I try to 'bold' something, I can't seem to get it to stop even though I put the correct sign after it.

Now, let's see if it worked. Nope, it is still "bolding". LOL I'll have to go back up and re-read Terry's directons.

BBL

Mau

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

I put the / after the B instead of in front of it. See it is working now! LOL

Marcy, where are you? We haven't heard from you in a few days. Are you okay or is your computer just not working?

Tolleson, AZ(Zone 9a)

Good morning all!! We are supposed to be in the 70's this weekend!!
I am so glad!! I am tired of the cold.

Yee haw I followed Celia's instructions and it worked!!

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Good morning everyone!

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

Those were Terry's instructions, Marie.!! LOL Now we can all rejoice in knowing that we can underline , bold and write in italics.! LOL

Tolleson, AZ(Zone 9a)

LOL sorry Terry Thank You !!!!

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

You're welcome!

My foot hurts as does my stomach. I'm going to go sit with my foot up, once again, when I'm done with this.

Tammy, CNN is now scrolling something about sububia St. Louis and a gunman. I missed how many he shot, but it did say police killed him. St. Louis is probably about 3 to 3 1/2 hours. Depends all on traffic. Oh just came to that story and now they did say Kirkville. Man burst into a City Council meeting. 5 killed, is that what they said? Before police killed him. His brother was defending the actions, saying he took matters into his own hands and went to "war" when the city wouldn't do whatever it was the man had wanted them do. How sad. Mayor is in serious condition.

Celia, doing bold, italics and underlines is very easy. Next to the m is comma and with shift <
next to that is period or with shift >
next to that is / or with shift, you get ?

You pick a word, let's say we want to bold the word bold. So to get it < B >bold< / B > but remove the spaces. I will use [ instead of < to show exactly what I mean. bold Make sure you do have a space before the first < and the last >, but otherwise, no spaces. To get underlined, replace B with U, to get Italics, replace with I

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Yes, that is the latest I have heard, Terry.
Such a good teacher you are! :)

(Zone 7a)

Happy Chinese New Year!

Hey! It worked! Ha! I was having trouble because I was thinking, when I got done, it would pop up immediately but then I previewed it and got the BOLD, so I'm very pleased to learn something new and this sentence is running on WAAAAAAAY too long!

New Madison, OH(Zone 5a)

Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't been on. Still waiting on my puter...and using Mike's laptop. I don't like it at all!! Wow!! I did it!!!
Now let's see if I can underline this. Woohooo!!!! Ok here goes! Let's see this one.
