I'm proud of me, too! I just hope they are sturdy enough. lol

Orange, CA(Zone 10b)

I got some fruits from Costco. Our household has been under the in-FLU-ence so I wasn't really up to shopping, cutting and peeling.

However, if y'all are feeling ADVENTUROUS, I'll bring some "do nhau" or food for drinking. It's sort of like antipasto with this and that of cold cuts and pickled veggies. Hope some of you are bringing beer.

OC, CA & Twin Lakes , IA(Zone 4b)

I think Weegy is bringing beer. Do 'nhau will go well with the other appetizers. We're always up to trying anything.

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

I will get the beer.

OC, CA & Twin Lakes , IA(Zone 4b)

Well I am up, making the bread for the stromboli

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

I just finished making my Thai noodle salad and it tastes yummy to me. lol

Looks like Arlene's stars are all in line today, as the weather looks to be nice all day. yippee.

Arlene... Mike's truck is in the shop, so I am picking him up at 10:30 and we will head over from there.

See you all soon. :-))

Donna

OC, CA & Twin Lakes , IA(Zone 4b)

I'll be ready for y'all

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Arlene, do you have paper bowls?

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

Uh-oh, Louise, I got plates and dessert plates, but no bowls. Should I pick some up on the way?

Chairs won't fit in the SUV, I discovered, so we can't bring them.

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

I can get them Kathleen.

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

Dumb me, I saw the soup on the menu!!!!

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Don't worry, I'm going to pick up some plastic ones so it's ok.

Orange, CA

Baby sitting job cancelled - I'm coming.

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Yea snow!!

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

I've got 6 white resin chairs I'm bringing

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

Well, I do feel sorry for those poor unfortunate souls who couldn't make it to Arlene's today. We had the best company in the world, Champagne, the best potato salad I've ever eaten, weege's really good deviled eggs with shrimp (which I've never thought of doing, but will now), Donna's noodles, all of the tremendous stuff that Arlene made (now I have to find raspberry chipotle sauce), German chocolate cake, cheesecake, cupcakes and a lot of other great stuff that I was too stuffed to try. After nothing tasting good for a couple of weeks, everything tasted soo good and I hate to admit that I could have sat there eating for another couple of hours. I am sorry that I didn't grab that potato salad and hide it to bring home with me. The DH is going to get a very ungourmet grilled cheese for dinner.
The unsung heroines behind the scenes....Arlene's daughters who did a whole lot of work and deserve some credit.

Thank you, Donna, for my geraniums, Thank you weege for my geraniums. Thank you, Mike, for the mini blinds.
Kanita, so glad that you could make it after all!
I just can't believe that Arlene went to all of this work for us.........

Redondo Beach, CA(Zone 10b)

Thanks to everyone for making me feel so welcome! I had a great time. Arlene - thank you for inviting me and hosting such a great garden party.

Mike - thanks for the 'mini oreo cookie' hyacinth vine seeds!

~Nancy

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

You are very welcome Sherry. Enjoy and I'll bring more the the RU.
Everything was great, I brought lots of goodies home. Thanks for those, Arlene, Donna and Mike.
It was so good to see everyone again. What a fun day and the weather couldn't have been better...now it's raining here again...grrrrrrr!
The food was absolutely deletable. Thanks everyone.

OC, CA & Twin Lakes , IA(Zone 4b)

Pictures will be posted tomorrow , guys. Donna and Mike just left; a long . . wonderful . . . day!

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

Hope someone posts a picture of the cupcakes Arlene's daughter made - so much work and talent went into those!
It was great seeing everyone. Thanks for all the wonderful food and company. Chuck, thanks for the lemon grass and Louise for the hyacinths. You guys are all the best. Thanks Pam and Don for the bubbly, too.

A great big round of applause for Arlene, her great food and thoughtfulness to have us all there.

Cheers everyone,
Kathleen

P.S. My weeds are still snickering, having grown all day while we were gone, but it was worth it!

Orange, CA

A big thank you Arlene for a wonderful time. Thanks to all those who brought delcious , yum-yum food - and the bubbley.

I had a great time meeting everyone - so glad to know you all. I am looking forward to further gatherings.

OC, CA & Twin Lakes , IA(Zone 4b)

it was so wonderful to have you all here; thank you for the kind comments about my daughters. I started a recipe thread here as it seems we all want each other's recipes.

Thank to all who stayed late and helped with clean-up; everyone did a little something to make it so easy for me to entertain you. Hope you all got the trades you were hoping for.

It is so gratifying to entertain such wonderful appreciative people.

Here is the link to the wonderful surprise my granddaughter and daughter brought to the party - garden cupcakes . . .

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

I've heard that some people *really* want that potato salad recipe..........
In fact, everyone who brought something they made should post recipes, no?

OC, CA & Twin Lakes , IA(Zone 4b)

Yes, and they will. But WC, you need to get your recipe over there as Chuck and Loida want it very soon.

If we don't see the potato salad recipe over there I will have to give her a little bump!

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

We cross-posted....yes, to the recipes. I wondered when you said that Donna and Mike just left....I feel bad.....they stayed to help clean up and I was only thinking of traffic. My apologies. If you ever do this again, I promise I will help clean up. It looked to me as though your two miracle daughters had already cleaned everything. Now we know why we'll never have a potluck at my house....lol......
Anyone who does this is a saint in my book.......

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

I didn't get a chance to talk to Chuck and Loida...we kinda sit down in our spots and don't get up and move around....I think that's because I was too busy eating.

OC, CA & Twin Lakes , IA(Zone 4b)

Chuck and Loida are great! You'll get to know them eventually.

Don't worry about clean-up; my children did the food but later I had help in getting the garage back to normal which was greatly appreciated but not expected.

Moving tables and stacking up chairs; We just had a fun little "Afterglow" which Don's champagne helped along. LOL

You had a longer drive than some of the rest and we just appreciated having you here. (get that recipe up!)

Perris, CA(Zone 9a)

Arlene,

Thanks again for opening your home to us. It was a well planned party. We had a really good time.

Sherry, I am sorry that we weren't able to talk. I don't know what gave me the impression but I thought that you had left already when we showed up late.

Weegy12,

Thanks again for the night-blooming jessamine. It is raining right now so I can't transplant it but I will soon, believe me. It was nice meeting you at the party.

Thanks everybody,

Chuck and Loida

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Thanks, Arlene, for yet another great get-together. You always out-do yourself!

Thanks to everyone for all the great food, fun and fellowship !

Great to meet all the new members, too !

OK...so was this fun, or what ?

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

Okay, I'm going nuts trying to find our funny 'group' photos from last year's RU. I told happy_girl to look in the RU forum, but they're not in there. They're somewhere in the Ca gardening forum posts.....did anyone have the smarts at sometime to write down which post number they were? I sure didn't.

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Sherry, here is a link to some pictures that Rusty56 took from the RU last year.

It looks like happy girl has started another thread with some pictures of today party.. http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/816863/

Thanks, Donna.

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

I saw Nancy's photos...that's the one that has me seeing lots of protein in my future.

Temecula, CA(Zone 8b)

whew,

Just done feeding horses and Pam and I are on good-time overload. Thank you very much Arlene for allowing such marginal characters such as me on your property without the benefit of armed security....lol. What a fabulous time!! Food was amazing, and the conversation was....well....way better than the food. A truly magnificent day.......

Both Pam and I are grateful,
don

btw....weeg, we're slippin' in mud here, so be thankful for the pavement...lol. I just cannot believe that orchid. Sherry, thanks for the Echiums, and Donna, as usual you have exactly the right plant at the right time.

Thanks to all for getting us off our ranch for some fun.

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

Yeah, we had a pretty good time.........tomorrow's going to be boring.

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

We've got mud here too Don, I don't think this rain has stopped all night.
Thanks again for the fun day all of you marginal characters!

Wanted to run this by all of you...if I had a iris garden "tour" how many of you would be able to make it say....hmmmmmm...sometime late April. We could then come back to my house for a little "garden party." Let me know and I'll toss it around and think of when the best time to see all of the blooms is. If you feel it's too close to the RU, let me know.

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Yup. I'd come !

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Ok, there's 1...ummmm 2 counting me! Thanks Mike!

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

Make it three......How many's a party?
