OC, CA & Twin Lakes , IA(Zone 4b)

Would that be your neighbors, Wilson Creek Almond Champagne? LOL Glad you can come. Just got back to Iowa last night so I'll be a little jet lagged today but tomorrow I'll get the menu posted and directions sent out.

Los Angeles, CA(Zone 10a)

Thanks!!!!

You've got it, Arlene!

OC, CA & Twin Lakes , IA(Zone 4b)

Thank-you!

Bellflower, CA

I just came back from spending a week in San Francisco area. A garden party sounds good to me, I'll be there. Our daughter, Linda will be visiting that weekend from New Jersey. She said that she would like to come along. Please add her to the list.

We will bring a 9 x 12 apple crisp.

Loyd

OC, CA & Twin Lakes , IA(Zone 4b)

It will be good to see you again Loyd and meet your DD.

Here's the main menu:

An American Bistro Sandwich which you are all familar with:
Monte Cristo Sandwich (which will be made with turkey instead of ham and baked instead of deep fried-think of a turkey and cheese sandwich inside of french toast)

A Middle Eastern Sandwich:
Lamb Kefta in pita bread (ground lamb with spices served in pita pockets and garnished with diced cucumber, tomatoes, feta cheese and a yogurt dill sauce)

And for you vegetarians . . . Roasted Mediterranean Vegetable Stromboli
(roasted vegetables w/ goat cheese, mozarella, & parmesian, encased with bread)
You can post on here what you want to bring and I will keep up the first post with the list of who is coming and what they are bringing.

Arlene.

I will start emailing the directions this week-end.

My goodness - all that plus apple crisp! I'm not eating til I get there! Have to put on my thinking cap now.

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Arlene,

That is some menu!! You will be working to much beforehand and will be exhausted before the party begins. lol

Since the food is in different ethnic groups, I would like to bring an Thai noodle salad.

Donna

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

How does a soup sound? Will it take away from your main dishes Arlene? I'm thinking collard green soup, it's a Portuguese recipe and it's yummy. LMK.

Orange, CA

Sounds delicious --I will bring cheesecake if no one else is.

OC, CA & Twin Lakes , IA(Zone 4b)

Sounds wonderful;

Gotcha all down in the first post of this thread. It will all work!

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

I will bring yummy deviled eggs too for an appetizer and some ceviche, yeah?!?!?!?

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

I'm stuck for ideas. Arlene is there any 'hardware' I can bring, or bottled water, white wine, etc.? Coffee? Two hands to help? A fan to keep you cool? Help....

OC, CA & Twin Lakes , IA(Zone 4b)

I can never figure what kind of beverages people like so I usually request they bring their own-everyone seems to have their own favorite. Weegy likes wine, Donna doesn't; I'm sure Don & Pam like wine; I think Mike drinks beer, as does Weegy and I am not sure about the rest of the group.

But if you'd like, small bottles of water go over well. Or you could do the paper products - plates, napkins & plastic ware. It's entirely up to you; we never seem to want for food at these get-togethers.

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

Perfect - I'll bring the plates, napkins and plastic ware.

OC, CA & Twin Lakes , IA(Zone 4b)

OK! Have everything posted into the first post; let me know if I goofed on anything.

OC, CA & Twin Lakes , IA(Zone 4b)

I now have D mailed everyone with the address and phone number; if I haven't D mailed you it's because you've been here for past garden parties and I am presuming you know how to get here. If I am wrong and you need info, please D mail me. (was that enough "D's")

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Has anyone heard from Amy? I hope she can come too.
As far as drinks Arlene, I can bring some beer for Mike and me and homemade wine if you aren't tired of it.

OC, CA & Twin Lakes , IA(Zone 4b)

That's fine for you and Mike; I have to stay away from wine because of the sugar but I did taste yours last time and it was very nice. I just found it unbelievable that you make wine (amongst all your other talents!)

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

weegy, do you mean Jo's grandaughter? If so, she is getting ready to go back on her ship. She won't even be here for the So Cal RU this year. boo hoo

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Yes Donna, Jo's granddaughter Amy. She's so much fun.

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

I will consult the Neuroma Sisters and have them advise me on what to bring. Stuffed Brugmansia leaves, maybe? (kidding...) Somebody help me here...I don't DO food coordination ! If the recipe is more than one paragraph, I'm sunk.

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Mike, you so funny!

OC, CA & Twin Lakes , IA(Zone 4b)

Mike,
would you like to bring the vegie tray like you did before? Just don't bring two as one would be enough.

arlene

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Yes, I could do that, but I feel like it's "too easy"...since the others are actually cooking or preparing something....

OC, CA & Twin Lakes , IA(Zone 4b)

It's something we need and quite frankly I don't trust your cooking! (no offense) lol

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

OK...veggie platter it is. Sheesh ! lol

OC, CA & Twin Lakes , IA(Zone 4b)

Gotcha down, Mike!

Valinda, CA(Zone 10a)

OK, I need an idea. Is there still a need for paper goods?

OC, CA & Twin Lakes , IA(Zone 4b)

George,
Kay beat you to the paper goods. You know everyone loves your apple cake; but if you don't think you'll feel like cooking, you could bring a cooler full of bottled water. Whatever strikes your fancy.

Anaheim, CA

I'm Sorry I won't be able to attend. My SO is having trouble with her Ateril Fib. Thanks for the invite
Bob

OC, CA & Twin Lakes , IA(Zone 4b)

Maybe another time, Bob. Hope everything gets straightened out for her.

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

I think I'm going to be able to make it...unless it's SRO by now...lol....don't know yet what I'll bring as far as food, have to consider that. I do know that I have some very small echium/ Pride of Madeira seedlings if anyone is interested...also small seedlings of telosma cordata, aristolochia ringens, and agastache rugosa/ Korean Mint Hyssop, a couple of mullein/ verbascum thapsus. I'm starting to collect geraniums/ pelargoniums in case anyone has any cuttings they'd like to share. The timing for the gathering works out well...Get to see everyone AND make it to Roger's before and Plant Depot after...life is good.

WC
Sounds like you have a good plan for the day!

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

WC, I have geraniums I can share with you.

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

Arlene, I don't think this is a garden party...you got yourself a Roundup! It seems that the pics I've seen of some RU's don't get this many people...lol....Did you expect this and do you have room for all? How about I bring a big bowl and salad fixins?
Sherry

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

oooh, weege.....thank you...I'm all excited!

OC, CA & Twin Lakes , IA(Zone 4b)

Salad is always great, Sherry. We can always make room for gardeners!

OC, CA & Twin Lakes , IA(Zone 4b)

wc,
I've exceeded my edits for today but will get your salad up there in the first post tomorrow. Thank-You

Valinda, CA(Zone 10a)
