wind, I think I'd like to give your cryptomeria japonica a try. have you ever grown it from seed? I'm starting to save seeds from some of my conifers, but haven't tried starting any yet.

amsonfan, if available, I would like lemon basil and cilantro, white candytuft, please

I am still sorting thru things from the last swap and pulling out dups. I should have another short list by tomorrow morning. It may not be anything exciting, but you never know.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

LOL! Ansonfn & Dryad, I'll be scooping up any Balsam Impatiens that are leftover and not tagged, but I'm not saying anything because then all the little piggies will come running and want some. Ooops I just let the cat out of the bag! LOL! All but a variety called 'Topknot' look good from a distance and when viewed from the side. In other words, don't put them on a path where you'll be walking right past them and looking down on them. (Would you two agree with that assessment?)

Dryad has some nice shade things -- Bergenia cordifolia and Pacific Giants Primroses are both commercial seed. Bergenia has a leathery leaf the lfower arrangers like because it covers oasis so well with just one leaf. It is everygreen and has a red or bronzey red autumn color. Can take dry shade, too.

The Primorses are the same ones they sell in bloom at the grocery in Feb & March. Bright, bold colors with a yellow eye. Totally hardy. They go dormant in hot weather & drounght, but come right back as soon as the nights cool down and they get some water. (and Cat 64129 will take any and all primroses, so if you want them ....)

Seale, AL(Zone 8b)

grampapa - I'll mark the cryptomeria japonica for you. The seeds are actually from my neighbors tree :) She has great plants/trees as she is a master gardener. We just happen to be walking along her driveway and she plucked off a seed pod and the seeds came spilling out. I plan on trying it too, was going to WS it. It is a really nice looking tree, not too large ~ very unusual and attractive.

hi ella
id love the fama primrose and fama white
thanks
pamsue

Scottsburg, IN(Zone 6a)

I would agree with you Suzy - the blooms on Balsam are tucked up so tight against the stem and right underneath the leaf - they are prettier to view from a bit of a distance rather than right on top. I wouldn't think they'd be good in a container, either. Tall, but the blooms could get hid behind anything else that would grow too tall next to it. I really like it along a narrow border - not too wide and decent height.

Nieuwegein, Netherlands(Zone 8a)

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

What does OINK mean?

Seale, AL(Zone 8b)

Suzy, Pam and Maoazamom. Got ya down for the pansies.

I have two trades of each of the above mentioned pansy oif somebody needs the same color.

Seale, AL(Zone 8b)

Oink is the sound a pig makes when they want somethign and when they happy.

My puter table and kitchen table is a mess looking through things. I need a house keeper.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Starlight1153 - if you have any pansies in White I would love them. and a pack of
Osteospermum ' Giant Mixed', if that's okay.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

So, we OINK when we are being greedy and asking for seeds?

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

ROTFLMAO!!!! City Girl,...Oink -- it's the sound pigs make! Don't they have farms in Canada?

Starlight, I need 5 seeds of ornamental Millet ' Purple Baron' for a container (pot) Can you fix me up? I only need one to live and grow and be purple, so if it's commerial seed, I literally need 3 seeds. Kind of a pain. Mayb i'll see who gets it and filch some seeds from their envie. Mwa-ha-ha! It's good to be Queen!

Suzy

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Of course they have pigs in Canada! My uncle used to have a pig farm in Saskatchewan lol But I thought OINK was some clever acronym that I didn't understand like "Other something nobody knows" anyway, I couldn't figure out the acronym, so I thought someone would help me out . . . . I didn't think it was something "obvious" lol

Leesburg, FL(Zone 9b)

Oh Heavens... I leave for a few hours and come back to over 40 posts!! [which i have yet to finish reading.... ]

but with all the chatter about 4-O'Clocks ... for those who have no idea how big they can get....

this is the cluster i get every year .. this is maybe 3 plants.

I have quit sowing them as there are so many seeds in my soil, all i do is keep pulling them ... i have transplanted a few, but found they dont transplant well.

and i do have a few that come back from the tuber/root ... it's right against my foundation, so it must stay warmer there.
but the one i am planning on killing, since it gets so big, it buries 2 of my rose bushes.

ok ... back to reading.

Seale, AL(Zone 8b)

Sure thing Seandor. added to your list.

Suzy got morethan enough Millet for you and for somebody else. They are commerial seeds. Other than the few Dutchman Pipe I have left all my seeds are commercial. I need the seeds I traded folks before for. Being a pig and keeping them for myself.

Fraus Now... If you have any left. would like Galaguera.... Red, Green , Yellow Pepper and mixed hot, please.

While I thinking about it. Up to everybody individually , but I plan on putting a tracking sticker on my package. Somehow aroudn this time of the year I notice alot of bubblers go missing through the post office. It only 55 cent to put one on and when packages have trackers on them they generally make it through well and there alot of seed moving here.

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

Starlight, I would love some of The following if you have any left.

Aster Pot n Patio Scarlet

Aster Pot n Patio White

Thank you,
Charlene

Greenville, IN(Zone 6a)

I've got a whole stalk of purple majesty I can take seeds off of if anybody wants some, I'm not going to get my list back up until sometime tomorrow or late late tonite :)

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

Dryad, I would love to have the following if still available:

Butterfly Flower Asclepias tuberosa 2007 Livingston seed
Heartleaf Bergenia, Pigqueek Bergenia cordifolia DG 2007 SW-OP
Lady in Red Salvia coccinea 2008 Johnny's Seeds
Striped German Tomato 2008 Heirloom Seeds
New England Aster Symphyotrichum novae-angliae self-gathered 2007

I am new to this, but I think that may a big OINK!

Charlene

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Is purple magesty hard to keep? I would try grasses, but so many of them seem to be for warmer climates than my zone (6a)

Greenville, IN(Zone 6a)

Starlight, I can't believe someone didn't scarf up on the Messenger lol I bought some for last year and forgot to use it? duh! That's awful generous to offer those!

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

TCS LOL! Those are big boys! I am going to go back and edit the Four OClock Pimp post to talk about the fantastic use of using it as a foundation plant...probably would hide an air conditioner, too LOL!

Starlight, I am always on the lookout when people use the word "need", but I am not clear what you need in this:

"I need the seeds I traded folks before for. Being a pig and keeping them for myself."

Do you need more of anything, or do you need other things? I don't have a clue except you must grow a lot of cool stuff in the winter...sigh...the one thing I really want to have when Mr. Clean retires.. a winter garden. Calendula, snaps, pansies, bachelor buttons, agrostemma, Godetia and other things. In my mind it will be beautiful, but I suppose the reality is we'll have a condo with a pot of something BRIGHT RED hanging over the balcony. :))

Now I am depressed.

See, I'm not sure of PM is hardy or not. PFs would have it, I bet. I just use a couple in my pots for "that vertical element". I love Purple Majesty Millet, and, in fact ,have seeds of it to put on my next seed list post, but I wanted to try a new kind, too.

Suzy

Seale, AL(Zone 8b)

Leebug... I used messenger verses sevral different types of products on the market all at once to see what was snake oil and what wasn't. messenger was good but have switched over to using T22, rootshield and plant shield.

Charlene .. Got ya down. : )

I do grow alot. Some for me and the rest is for my Dreaming Green project. Dreaming Green is what the rest of my whole life is being directed too. What I meant by need is in my seed box I have some trades that were sent me from the past months and it almost time to grow them and those I don't have but a few of and I beign a pig and keepign them for me. Sorry I wasn't clear sounding. Blame it on my eyeballs spinning from runnign up and down this thread. LOL I'm so dizzy... my head is spinning.. lalalalala.. I always love d that song.
