CLOSED: Second Chance Wishlist Swap
Elena and Caroline - welcome! Take a deep breath and dive right in, dipping your toe in the water here just won't do it!
Well, well, one brave soul was all it took -- lucky, too because I have another coupla batches to type up tonight.
I'll try to edit, but you know how that goes! LOL!
Caro, Welcome to the asylum! We have to clean out our seed boxes, but we can't say goodbye to our seeds all on one day. We have to do it more slowly, think about it. Mourne each passing (passing to someone else, but still passing out of your paws! LOL!)
We look forward to having you in the swap and seeing your seeds, er, I mean, and hope you have fun and find lots that you want! ;)
Caro, Did you see how Elena, above you ,talked about her butterflies? I'd like a list of what you are generally looking for, too, so I can be on the lookout. Maybe snag it for you.
Thanks for being so brave!!! We;re glad you're here and hope you get lots and lots of lovelies you want!
To be sure you get your list seen and see the most updated lists, use this link. It's thread number three. Oh, Elena, you , too!!! LOL!

Suzy, I'm going thru the two threads tonite to make sure I haven't missed anyone that I owe seeds to and then Wed. I hope to post more seeds lol I'm sure it will take all night just to go thru both threads lol I just can't believe this swap lol I have to make sure I'm gonna be home when I post for the avalanche lol Have too much running to do tomorrow :)
How are your geraniums coming along? How many did you end up with I can't remember :)
I have a geranium that is just starting to germinate!
Yay!!!!
Looks like you are on your way!! Don't put any extra soiless mix on it to sort of help cover it -- that's how my little one got the curly stem. LOL!
Suzy
Seandor has a baby! Good going Seandor! Have a cigar on me :)
Cute LeBug!!!!
Gosh I read that first line and I was REALLY startled! Talk about a surprise! LeBug you scared the begeezus out of me! Then I understood you meant the geranium lol
Gosh I must be overly tired if I managed to forget 9 months of pregnancy lol
That's too cool! got any pics? I haven't planted seed one yet. how many days did it take and did you use bottom heat? inquiring minds want to know.
Yeah - bottom heat. Planted them on Saturday, I guess - it's just one so far. For all I know it could be a weed!
I will take some pics - maybe tomorrow. :-)
LOL!
Got three up!
Triplets! You go Seandor!!!
Get those cigars out!!! There's gonna be more I'm sure!!
Yeah - I pretty thrilled! I hope more sprout. I have them covered with a plastic dome and it sure seems like there is a lot of excess moisture - I think I might have to put the lid on an angle or something.
I know the answer to that one Sea -- If the condensation appears similar to a mist, or what a misting bottle would leave if you sprayed it, then it's ok.
If they are droplets, then you need to take the lid off. Did you put holes in your lid?
Suzy
Okay - the lid comes off! Way too much moisture. No, never thought to put holes in the lids! I did take the lid off this morning and shake the huge drops off. lol
EGADS - another chore to do!
Thanks for the info Suzy..
Courtesy of my question & somebody else's answer from last year....I didn't actually know it before I joined DG. Who knew the waterdrop size could be an indicator of anything -- didn't even cross my mind!
Sea, I want to say how great it is that your geraniums are doing so well and germinating so well for you, but as soon as I do, somebody will say, Oh, poor Suzy, do you want me to send you some seeds?, so I can't, but it is exxxxtremely wonderful you got such great germination!
Suzy
Suzy - I planted all the seeds - but is it possible to send you a plant or two if I end up with too many?
Seandor, Listen to Suzy like she doesn't want anymore geranium seeds lol
I have a few plastic domes and when I get those water droplets I lean them to the side to drain and dry and put clean ones on my seeds gets to be a pain after a while trying to keep the water droplets off. So we should put holes in the lids? I don't think I want to do that cause I use them outside in the spring too to keep seeds from washing away when it down pours.
Well, I took the lid off for the afternoon, and I will replace it tonight. Now have four geraniums germinated!
You go girl!
Thanks LeBug - the trick is - can I keep them alive?
Once they get started I don't think you will have any problem just keep them a little cooler than the rest of your plants they like it cool, I put mine on the bottom shelf where it's like 60 maybe after they get a little bit of size on them.
They will do great for you! You already have the hard part done almost.
Are you kidding???? The warmest room in Our Old House is probably 60 degrees! hahahah
I don't think you could keep me alive in 60*, but if it's good for the geraniums...
great googliewooglies - 60* to me is coat time! (I grew up in So. Cal., and I've never quite adjusted to these lower temps!)
I keep mine between 66-68°
one problem is... the thermostat is in the dining room, which is southern exposure [who eve designed this house was a nit] I asked to have it moved, and they wouldnt do it.
If i'm cool, i put on sweats ... if i'm chilled, sometimes i'll boost it up a bit .. or wrap up in a throw.
but when MIL comes over... she brings a coat.
I moved my geraniums off the heat mat. There is nothing wrong with the seeds -- one is laying on top like I just pulled it from the packsgae, the thers are covered up, but I just know they're there.....waiting...waiting...
No, Seandor, yo own't have too many and they wouldn't like the ride...believe me in the spring when I have alllll these babies to plant and somebody is looking for the exact same thing i have a zillion of I htink oif any way possible to shipthem but there is really no way.
LeBug, no, don't put holes in the top -- some enclosed greenhouse-type things have a vent in the top you can open and close. If Sea had that, she'd want the vent open is all.
60 for the house. Um, I want to, I really do. I would like to use less energy and have a smaller carbon footprint, really, I would. But 60 degrees?...I simply can't do it. We turned the heat off upstairs by closing all the vents. I should get a point or two for that. (I live in a Cape Cod-style one and a half story house..the kids had 2 bedrooms upstairs and everything else is on the first floor.)
Suzy
The 60 on the bottom of the plantstands isn't that bad with the humidity in the plant room if that's what you are talking about Seandor and that is just at night I'm going to have to check my temps. on the bottom shelf again this year but I haven't started them this year yet but I always put things on the bottom shelf that like it cooler after germination like the candytuft, petunias the dahlias that I grew one year really liked it too I'll check the temps when I start them up again and let you know.
I keep my house on 68 but the tv room and my room were built on later so the temp is about ten degrees colder lol I wear sweats all of the time and dad doesn't seem to mind it for now when it gets cold in the next couple of months I may have to change it nope it's 68 in the tv room right now.
Suy I won't put holes in my domes :)
