rita, is that in your yard? Wow. How do you do that in our climate?

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

Right? How are you going to have coconuts here? Had them back "home" and loved them - just loved them.

Red Oak, TX

LouC, It is my yard but in a little village in Belize. Thank you for the invitation to the tropical gardening forum. I have been lurking for quite some time and is a big fan of Tropicman and RJ.

BELIZE! I grew up for a long time in Poza Rica Mexco and we loved to cross even close to Belize - just a stunning place. That is where I learned to Love tropicals.

Oh how beautiful. Now I am really inspired. Have been looking at others gardens that were so far away I didn't feel a connection. I have a pitiful little plumeria *stick* in the front window with no leaves. Rita, how do you care for them just planted in the ground? I expected they would freeze. All of my tropicals are either in the house , the makeshift barn/greenhouse or standing as frozen brown statues. The EE's, banana, and ginger will come back because they are root hardy but you have me just speechless and that is a rarity.

LouC, I have most of my smaller plumerias in pots which I have to put in the greenhouse in the winter. I dig up the bigger ones that are growing in the ground and store them bare root. They usually lose their leaves, so right now they are sticks. Your little stick might surprise you and put out blooms in the spring. Thanks for the kind words.

Placenciarita, What's the name of this vine? Jerry

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

Dry root? ad it works? I am stunned - so easy.

Dallas, TX

MitchF, For the first five years all of my plumerias spent the winter in my living room with out any dirt and pots. After that they got tooooooo big. Now they are in 50gal. pots, about 250-300lbs. Some of them i gave to Placeciarita. Now they are really doing great. Jerry

Texasbigleaf ,that is a Rangoon Creeper. They smell just as nice as the plumerias. This is the traveler palm I got from Florida.

Rangoon Creeper, Is it in your green house now? Cutting for me please please! I have never seen one blooming. It is a knock out! Jerry

Red Oak, TX

The Rangoon Creeper is in the greenhouse. This plant is a must have. If I cannot get it to root, I know where we can get you one (zone9). Is the plumeria a Princess Victoria ? Here is another princess.

I cannot believe the beauty of the plants you guys have here in North Central Texas. Lived here my entire life and never, ever expected to see anything of this magnitude. You are to be commended. Rita, are you saying to take the full grown plumeria trees up bare root for the winter? I am amazed, amazed. Please share your secrets.

Dallas, TX

LouC, Plumerias are a very tough plant as long you do not let them freeze. I've had them in my house with no dirt or pot and they would loose all of their leaves, then start blooming just laying on the floor, go figure. And i've had some that i babied and the more i did the faster they would die! Jerry
