Scattelogical ramblings and desultory humor - 27

Oh the stories I could tell but it would end up with hurt feelings somewhere!

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Oh my!!!!!!
My sides hurt from trying to quietly laugh at all the antics you guys have going on this thread. I haven't checked this one for days - much to my chagrin. I have been trying so HARD to keep quiet because all of the babies are still sleeping, but it's impossible!

Thanks for getting my blood circulating this morning!!

Want to sew? This needs a new canvas top. It's been in my living room for 2 1/2 years! The cat roams around and about.

That is quite a contraption - is that original?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Very nice, Sherrie. The cat too.

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Sherrie...now WHERE did you find pirl's baby buggy? LOL

That really IS cool...I like it with the just the original covering.

The cat - 14 years old. Yes that is an original pram. Looking around the late 1800's circa. My DH makes me work. I have to sell on ebay to have mad money, for the special stuff that I want. Other words I can't go spend 500 bucks on the yard or exquisit stuff, unless I make the money - everyday stuff I get - NP. I sell and I get a percentage and then the household gets a percentage. We have so much stuff, I just know it is piled up high.

To give you an idea (I am not trying to sell it here - against rules). We deal in antiques. We have wagon wheels, buggies, sleighs etc, etc. (wagon wheels might go for MY lawn and garden :-).

One auction we went, to we wanted a dresser to resell. They had 2 dressers the same. They brought it up and we got it and come to find out they grabbed the wrong one and it was full of LINENS! Everyone gasped including me as I know very very little about linens. I am trying to sell the linens on ebay but if you don't know what your selling it is hard. Here is a piece I have and it I finally figured it out by researching. 1900s Chemical Lace Raised Florets with Sewn Inserts. I think I am right ? I just have so many smalls to sell it gets frustrating.

Ever sell on Ruby Lane? ☺

No never knew it existed till now........ Thanks!!

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

You're welcome! ☺

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Excuse me! I am from the Pacific Northwest and they have lovely town names like Nanaimo, Yakima, Uculet, and Spallmisheen, but what's up with Belchertown MA? Is there a Fartzville on the east coast?

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

I don't know - but there is Intercourse in PA. (Avoiding working on the washing machine.)

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Of course there is . . . wonder what they do for excitement in that town? lol

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

i think it's in - or near - Amish country. So the excitement can't come from technology...

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

There's a place called "Floyds Knobs" in Indiana. Always liked that one !

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

"Nowthen" Minnesota was named by the people trekking to the town who decided to name it after the first words spoken upon their arrival. How they knew they arrived when there wasn't a sign is anyone's guess.

Katye, you cracked me up!

Amy, When did WA become part of the NE, as in
Post #4358937

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Well, it's NE of Hawaii.

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

Well spoken, Seandor: I adore logic. But it is best served with a side of absurd.

So Dave, may I be a charter member of the NE Forum? I could be the NW faction. Factions are good, right?
If not, how about a member in good standing? I know - only if I stand...

I promise to use appropriately placed apostrophe'''''''''s...

Recognizing that you folks are regularly blasted by frequent winter extremes every year, and that this may fall on deaf ears, I would like to register a complaint about the impending precipitation: It's about to go cold on us this next week, which is indicative of the arrival of (our least favourite 4 letter word) S**W.
Hills are tremendously exciting to navigate while covered with a veneer of ice. I so love the ice commute in my 4-wheel spin: the feeling could be similar to having your heart jump right out your nose..
here's a bit of sunshine for you -

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Ah Katye - I grew up in Vancouver - enjoy the s**w while you can! We are hearing about all sorts of bad weather out of west - I hope it doesn't affect you.

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Well, Katye, that statement just before your sunshine reference really woke my cats up. They were sound asleep, one across my legs, one across my feet, and the laugh burst forth uncontrollably as I read your offering. Now I am afraid the poor things have scattered to parts unknown, having heard such loud sounds pouring forth from my mouth, nose and various other head openings. Good one, my dear. Much needed on this cold drizzly gray day.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

There was one lousy governor of Massachusetts named either Endicott Peabody or Peabody Endicott, and my father (pre-stroke) used to say he was the only governor to have four towns named after him: Peabody, Endicott, Marblehead and Athol. x, C

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Katye, you are a charter member. No problem. I hope you know I didn't mean you shouldn't be part of our forum! I was questioning Amy's geography (she was touring the NE in a town in WA)

We love outsiders.

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Carrie, Did your Dad have a lisp?

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

I've never seen that show - isn't on my one channel.

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

No we're good - living on a hill keeps the flooding at bay. We get lovely violent windstorms from November through March, but a generator serves us just fine. We'd prefer not to move as we have a very deep well with incredible h2o, and anything with acreage would be too expensive to buy again.
Besides, I have been here over 20 years, and that represents a lot of sweat equity in the land. Excess rain, sun deficit, and the cost of living are common complaints. From a gardening perspective, it was not a Tomato year. But we had record crops of Blueberries & Apples. It all evens out over time. Hope reigns eternal here among us Mossy gardeners!

I do feel for the California folks - they've been battered the past few months. Amazing how one's life can change in the blink of an eye. Makes one value what is in hand.

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

Dave - I was just checking - I didn't want to barge in & take a seat prior to asking.
I had to check her geography, too - thought I missed something.
But then, I usually am missing something...it would be atypical, otherwise.
"NE Outsider" - somehow that resonates with me...

"Athol" - adding this to collection of slang that I'll teach to my friend from Vietnam...

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

No, Dave, it was supposed to be funny. I guess you had to be he. x, C

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Katye, Athol is a town in MA, along with Belchertown! And we have all kinds of folks on the NE forum, although I can't offhand recall anyone outside the country. As we say ad nauseum, everyone is North East of Somewhere! Welcome! And we always attempt to have the most posts per week so any help is, er, helpful. x, Carrie

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Oh, you guys are too funny tonight! Athol! LOL! I once knew an athol from Athol! Really!

Katye, there really are no outsiders in this Forum!! We all barge in every day! LOL

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

i totally never noticed that i said NE. must have been a freudian slip.(better than a pink slip!) (though i'd probably go for a black slip. if i had to have a slip. which i don't. see i can talk to myself..!)

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

me too, Amy - I can talk to me or I when myself is orating. Gets entertaining at times, and I don't miss much.

It was duly noted waaaaay back that the NE was in the lead for the most posts per square inch.
I felt it my civic duty to contribute. My apologies in advance.

Carrie - i will get out the Rand McNally Road atlas & check MA for city/town names. Belchertown, how can you beat that?
But I do fancy Athol. Hmmm, somehow that sounds sooooo wrong.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Katye,
http://www.belchertown.org/departments/history/bhistory.htm
Belchertown was named because it was 'Belcher's Town' - Jonathan Belcher, Royal Governor before Massachusetts was a state. Michaela, where are you? It says it's near Springfield!

And how do you pronounce Katye? I think I must read aloud to myself - in Renee Zellweger's voice, or maybe Annette Benning's ,,,,,,,,

x, C

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

We had Mr. Crossemina (sp) from England and the Aussie guy posting last year. The NE Forum is international!

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Katye...I didn't apply for a pass to this forum, either...I just snuck in. hee hee
(or is it "sneaked"?) It all started (for me) with Kassia and her orange roses.

There were rumblings in the Calif. forum about some guy in the NE forum named "Victor" so I had to ck. it out for myself. LOL

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Yep, JD, I had those same rumblings about a guy named Victor, one named Al...maybe Dave, and there was another one....oh yeah, Jasper. And Ms. Pirl who keeps them all outta trouble. So I am claiming NE of Texas...surely that works. And you can be NE of the gulf. Katye is NE of Hawaii.....Hey, it'''''''s all good.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Was that SEVEN apostrophes I counted there? Don't you know that on odd numbered days of odd-numbered months, one must use even numbers! I would explain the whole even-even-odd thing but I don't want to bore Dave, who finds such things tedious and even pedantic! :>) xx, Carrie

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

uh oh - I used 9 back a bit. & now that I know the rules I can practice compliance......

Carrie - you can pronounce it anyway you like, but it's just KT. Actually, I go by Kate, although i answer to skippy, hey you, and a host of names that needn't be mentioned.

JD - being from CA, you don't need a pass. And i know what you mean about Kassia's roses - niiiiiice.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Good night everyone - it's past my bedtime. :-)
