Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

OK....sooooooooooooooooooo...anyone like Garbanzo beans?????

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Maybe it is, Seandor. Maybe, not. The problem seems to lie with the fact that when a person makes a habit of being insensitive and rude, demeaning others (whether in this forum or on another forum), that people are hurt. It's simply not right and not the DG way of life.

These pretzels are making me thirsty!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Wow - went away to help get the kids ready for bed and I come back to see the fate of Carrie, the thread and maybe the world on my shoulders??!

First of all - NO, I am certainly not the boss - of anything.

Reading what was posted while I was gone, I think two words are in order - Nuff Said.

There were multiple apologies. People can choose to accept, or not accept them. However, to continue would only lead us in one direction - and it's not a good one.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Victor - I thought you were the boss of your cell block?

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

he's the boss of his cell phone...

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

...and his garden. He likes it that way.

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

Seandor, I seriously doubt I was at all misunderstood, and please do not threaten me, take offense if you wish. I do not approve of what was said, like it or not, apology, real or not. It's not like it's the first time, as Pirl said, that rude, inappropriate things have been said.

And out of deference to Victor, this being his thread, whether he may be boss or not. I will say no more.

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

I do like garbanzo beans, JD.

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Well I'm glad SOMEBODY shares my affection for the lowly garbanzo beans! Without them, we'd have no sense of hummis, right ?

Now then...back to being our jolly old selves before we get uberized !

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

no sense of hummus!!! love it

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I'm really glad I feel asleep last night as this thread turned ugly!
I can't believe such a thing was said even out of fun. I think these Kentuckians would have to disagree with the book comment!

Abraham Lincoln
Hunter Thompson
Irene Dunne
Diane Sawyer
Casey Jones
Johnny Depp
Robert Penn Warren
Jefferson Davis
I for one as a N.E. forum reg. offer my sincere apologies for the offensive remark and hope you won't take offense to all of us here on the NE.

WE WON WON WE WON WE WON - We are #1

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Where's our Victor this morning?

I am sure he will be dragging in.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Here!

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

We once had found a tiny kitten in Nov in our wood pile, and named it Garbanzo bean as her tummy was that creamy color of a Garbanzo. She was a dear cat and much loved. She is buried out back overlooking the garden and she can still see the wood pile we found her cold and wet, hiding under those many years ago.

Maybe I should name the next stray we adopt, Wendell Berry as he is an all time essayist or Cassius Clay who could end this bout with one punch. We need Abe to end this war, now. Too many wonderful people, ideas, knowledge on this forum to have it blown up by a few silly, insensitive remarks followed by, perhaps, misunderstood or tardy apologies. Lets grow plants not enemies. For Victor's sake. Patti

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

For everyone's sake.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

this thread is getting a little long

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Yes, Schick - I saw that we were #1 by a long shot in our posts!! Good for us.......As my DH and I say when we've had "words" or frowns, "Let's start this day over!!" Best way I know to start is to be the chattiest and friendliest gang of chortling thugs on DG! Bingo....we did it!!

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

7 hours and no more posts to this thread...uh oh...was it the garbanzo beans that killed it? LOL

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

I had to unwatch this one for a while. It is a bit long now.

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

wow.
Hope you all stay healthy - I am fighting an upper-respiratory-flu-type-yuk.
My head hurts & my eyes feel like they're on fire. I wish I could take my head off & put it in the freezer.
I'm hoping 5 star Thai soup will do the trick.

Sebastopol, CA(Zone 9a)

Good idea on the soup, Katye. If that doesn't work, a hot toddy's always nice this time of year, and it has beneficial properties too.

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Hi everyone! Did I miss anything?

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Gee, Seems like you could've used a therapist.

I apologize to our more Southern North Easterners too

I would choose to talk this out (what a surprise) but will defer to Victor's wishes. Except:

Carrie!!!

Sebastopol, CA(Zone 9a)

Katye, I just remembered an even better remedy, but it's drastic. It's an old Russian cure for colds and flu that my grandmother always used when we were growing up.

Pour yourself a glass of vodka -- a big water glass, not a shot glass. Cover the vodka with a film of cayenne pepper, at least an eighth of an inch thick. Drink it down as quickly as possible and get into bed with every blanket in the house piled on top of you. When you wake up, you'll feel great.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

if you wake up!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Dave - I think it was talked out enough and was spiraling. If you think otherwise - by all means go ahead.
