What did female viking wear? Hey - were there even female vikings?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

One can dream...

Dress her up as a deer.

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

If she were a Celtic warrior you could paint her blue and be done with it.
But not mauve.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Remember the cartoon, Hagar the Horrible? She, Helga, wore a vest and a long skirt - they're in short supply at the local thrift shop. Most vests are either down filled or denim, neither of which would be accurate. Here's a photo of the helmet. Maybe it has another name but I don't know it.

She'd be a legless deer, Victor, and that's what you might enjoy but it won't work for her.

Sharon - she's wearing purple and blue right now regardless of the temperature that would render her blue today anyhow.

Cool! Use the face too. Is her head screwed on right?

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

That head has never been on her "body" but this may be the year it gets screwed on right...or left.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Rightie tightie...

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Lucy leftie.

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

very Wagnerian!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Yes, ala Brunhilde!

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Was Wagnerian a vegetarian?

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Not sure and don't know if he liked winegar or not.

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

more of an aryan, i think...

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

And a hairy 'un at that.

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Hairy Aryan?
Looked rather like a(n) ald erson to me. (Thanks to irl.)

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

So funny, _haron! We "eople" have to stick together.

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Best fun I have had all day, my dear.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

It's good to have fun on a cold winter day, like today has been.

"It's nice to be nice to the nice" Frank Burns

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

It's good to stay inSIDE. x, C

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I remember that episode, Al.

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

and the one where hawkeye says all the things he will carry - carry on, cary grant, etc - but he WON'T carry a gun.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

I guess Frank Burns was no relation to George?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes - carry over, etc. That was a great show - especially the first five years, and the first three (with Wayne Rogers and McLean) were the best. After Frank left, it went downhill, though there were some funny ones with Charles.

Every one with Col. Flagg is a classic.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

I guess I had a soft spot for Harry Morgan from Dragnet - I didn't like the other guy too much.

Here's a funny MASH story: in 7th or 8th grade (when did the movie come out) some cooler kids than I were singing the theme song with their guitars. Well, I heard a lovely harmony so I offered to sing it (I guess I played guitar too in those days) and so these way cool girls taught me the words because the harmony was nice and we sang it an assembly one morning. The words, to which i hadn't given an iota of thought, "And suicide is painless" apparently were quite alarming to members of the guidance department!!!

Medway, MA(Zone 5b)

Carrie, that's a great story!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Yeah, I think so too! x, C

Loved MASH! Love taupe..........ochre and diapers go hand in hand.......You know you are enjoying retirement when it's/its don't/doesn't bother you.......Life's too short! I'm with Dave on this one! If everyone gets too paranoid and self-conscious about being grammatically precise in every post, we'll lose a lot of the spontaneous fun, and that's far more important to me! As with most things, it's a question of degree and balance.....

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Or durgree an balins.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Where's the link to old how old is old or whatever? I lost the thread,,,,,, you know, elderly gardeners in their 40's. xx, C

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

On the west coast we stay 29 for years...I figured the east coast would beat us on that one.

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Katye is right...but we start to develop a sort of "pucey" coloration at that point.

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Is that opaque or transparent, JasperDale?

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

ummm, haven't gotten there quite yet. Or maybe I passed it already? Did i go to the - hey, is it "peuce" or "puce" or let's try "pewce" - Pewce it is.
JD - up here (Seattle), we either go with the flow & turn green,
(no rain deficit = moss)
OR - stay inside & acquire that pale/palid/ashen hue with a coffee overlay.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Louise, ochre is breast milk... xx, Carrie

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

The intensity of Pewse (or puce, peuce, whatever) can vary dramatically depending on the smog level, humidity, and temperature here. If you have copper pipes in some sections of this city, you get nice green highlights in your hair !

When we repiped our house, my mom's hair turned Emerald Green the next day.

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Have you been tested to see if you inherited that phenomonal genetic predisposition, JD??

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Gary Pucey?

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

I'm pretty sure I didn't. My hair has never been green. My teeth, yes...but never the hair.

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

from all the green eggs and ham....
