We should start another thread called-"Mau says we are the mischief Girls" LOL
Stop and visit, talk all you want pt 5
And Marsue? Lecture is as follows...How far out of date was the prescrip? It probably won't be as potent. I'm finished. LOL
LOL :)
LOL You guys crack me up :))
We went and saw Fred Clause tonight with the kids, and it was funny!! I really enjoyed it and so did the kids. Then we went and got a 6 and a half foot artificial tree, but got it for almost half off at KMart. Not complaining :))
It is nasty here tonight, 50+ MPH winds, snowing and cold!!! 26 right now. The kids are on a 2 hour delay already. If Mike hadn't closed early, we wouldn't have gone out, he came home and got us, so I didn't have to drive. I wouldn't have made it, I absolutely hate driving when the roads are bad.
I'm going to bed, I'm fighting pharyngitis again, losing my voice :(( I do have an appt with the ENT on Friday (finally). Don't get into too much trouble without me :))
Hugs,
Janis
LOL Janis! It is a lovely 18º here! Not much wind, thank goodness, but bitterly cold! So glad to hear you finally have an appt with the Doc! You should stay up with us sometime and help us get into some mischief! LOL
Oh ya, YAAAAAAAAAAAAA for Hubby! :) And for you to have one that cleans like that! :)
Hey girls...now listen....lol...don't get into too much trouble tonight...ok?? Smiles...I am off to bed here. It is supposed to go down to 15* here tonight...yuk!!!! And we are windy too. But the snow is over!!
Sleep well all....night!
Fingers crossed behind my back saying "We will be VERY good girls tonight!" LOL
Have a great night! :)
HUGS
Here I am, scratching my head, trying to think of some mischief to get in to!
But, I was a good girl and decided I was gonna try the Amaryllis seeds someone sent me! I have never seen any seeds quite like them, but thought I would give em a shot. I also took what I thought to be seeds off of my Red Lion Amaryllis and added in, just to see what works and what don't, if either. I put them in a cup of water as was suggested. Cross your fingers for me! :)
Knock knock. I've been wandering all over looking for a place to hang out. A group of animal lovers eating chilli late at night seems ok to me. Is there room for a new face? Congrats on your puddles. I googled pug-a-poos. I'm a groomer so I see all kinds of poodle crosses. They must have really dominant genetics because that hair always comes through. They're all curly and fuzzy regardless of what the other parent is. You never seem to get something that looks like a poodle with short, slick hair!
You are absolutely welcome here, especially if you want to join in with me and Kwan to be mischiefs! LOL We are the 'late nighters', but we do have a lot of fun! I think she must have checked out on me tonight, though! Bad girl! LOL Thanks about my Puddles! I am anxious to see what they look like in 6 weeks, but right now I am just enjoying them the way they are!
I'm usually up late. Which is a curse since I have to be up early. Right now I'm sitting here listening to my bananas freeze. The cold has dipped all the way down here so I ran out and bought xmas lights to wrap my banana trees to try to keep them from freezing. Weather reports say anything from 28 to 33 degrees. I'm near the lake (Pontchartrain) so sometimes that keeps it from freezing here at the house. Actually the lighted bananas are the only decorations I have up so far. They're quite festive.
Oh I bet they look really cool with the lights! I have Musa Basjoo, but I bought them later in the season and in very poor health, so they are potted and in the Green House. Although, they have decided to really take off and I told DH they will outgrow the GH before Spring gets here! Thankfully mine are pretty hardy for my area and won't need much protection. They will be planted amongst Cannas, and Banana Cannas (if the seeds will germinate for me) and many other things that I can come up with! LOL I plan to do a 'step down' planting in the very back of yard to block out the neighbors and their dogs! Which will be great, at least til it is time to cut everything back, but by then we aren't out back much. You should get a pic of your decorated bananas and post em on here! I know everyone would enjoy seeing it! :)
Hey, Groovy! (Love you name) Welcome!
Sorry I punked out last night. Stuff catches up with you, you know what I mean?
So, I get home from work last night and I walk in the house. DH has been cleaning the floors getting ready for a house appraisor this morning. I said, "It smells chemically and kind of clean in here." What I was thinking was, it smelled AWEFUL! He said, "It should smell like burnt rubber, too."
He had been vacuuming when he noticed a huge cloud of smoke coming from under the vacuum. The belt had caught fire! Cats hairs got caught around the rollers and stopped them from turning and therefore, burnt rubber belt. Yuck! The whole house smelled aweful! LOL Our Monte has hairs that can be 6-7 in. long and they get caught in everything. I had one wrapped around my right eyeball and had to have the Dr. remove it. THAT was a fun trip! LOL
Anyway, we got our dinner of chinese takeout and then sat down to eat. Isis comes in the room. When we're eating, she knows better than to come in the room. No begging alllowed. She looks at us a minute then I said, "Isis, out." and snapped my fingers. This is a signal that they both know and will send them running into another part of the house. She just looked at me. I started to stand up when she decided to ralph all over the edge of the throwrug. GREAT! Now I have to stop eating and clean up after a cat.
So, we eat dinner and are watching a show on superhumans on DiscoveryHealth. Before I know it, I'm alseep. Only to be awakened by MONTE ralphing on the rug! Ugh! LOL DH had left me to sleep on the couch and pulled a throw over me. I was so tired by the time I got done cleaning a SECOND round of cat stuff, I just stayed on the couch and slept.
It's really cold outside but I don't know how cold because my weather site is down this morning. We have the appraisor coming between 10:30am and 12:30pm. DH asked before he left today if I could finish cleaning the office before they got here. I said, you know, I'm tired of cleaning. I will finish after they leave. He said, but it's messy in here. I said, you know, they're coming to appraise the house, not our housekeeping skills. It looks fine. He agreed but I htink I'll have it done before he gets home and tell him I did it BEFORE they came! LOL
LOL Kwan! At least Tori threw up in a bucket last night :(( Not sure what is wrong with her but she and Sarah and I all had sick stomachs last night, Tori was the only one that threw up though. So the neighbor is coming over to watch her when I take hte others to the bus stop :((
Welcome Groovy. Occasionally I stay up late but not to often, not with kids that get up at 7 AM LOL.
Tori has a tender tummy anyway, doesn't she?
Morning all. Yikes!! Just what I wanted to hear about first thing...barf!
LOL!! I have a tender stomach too!
I hate it when my cat does that!!
Sorry about your tummies there Janis! Hope it's nothing that hangs on very long.
Hi GroovyGrower. I love your name! Like you and Misty, I have bananas too. Mine go out in the summer, come in..in the winter. But this year I did plant 3 small ones along the south side of my house, where my tropical garden lies, and mulched them well. So we will see if they make it. They were the basjoo...supposed to be root hardy here.
Kwan....I hope things go well with the appraiser's today. I know my computer desk is a mess too. I keep saying I am gonna clean it up, but somehow, I never get to it!
Well it looks to be a much better day today, except for the cold. Sun is out, roads are cleared...yay!!
Think we will get out of here after while and finish up the shopping...I hope!
You all have a good one!
Morning all! I was a good girl last night, Mau! And Kwan, too, since she fell asleep on the couch. :) Sorry to hear about all the "yukky's' going around! Get that chicken noodle soup handy! It is cold and nasty here, even with the sun trying to shine. I haven't even been to the green house for 2 days, even though it is right outside the back door. :( Guess I better make it out there today to make sure all is still a kickin! Hope you have a wonderful day! And you all try to behave, too! :)
HUGS
Tammy
Well looks ok to me? Just looks like you live there!! Smiles!!
LOL Thanks, Marcy. We had a conversation about that last night. I said it looks like real people live here and HE said it always had that lived-in look and I said it looked like HOBOS lived here!
Hoboes! Ha! Looks like a real, live, sure-enough "computer room" to me. Ha, again! Seriously, I hope you get the appraisal you are wanting. Celia. BTW, Buddy's med. was only a couple of months out-of-date and it must have worked because he said he is feeling better now after taking two doses. :o)) Whew--I was expecting a much tougher lecture from you--you must be mellowing out in your "old age"! LOL
It sounds as if Tammy and Celia managed to stay out of trouble last night, Marcy! We "older gals" are gonna have to keep these younger ones in line! Welcome to the group, Groovy. I love your ID name but I'm not so sure about this:
Right now I'm sitting here listening to my bananas freeze.
Now that sounds like a really fun way to spend one's time! Sort of like, "watching the grass grow" Can we come join you some time while you listen to the bananas freeze? LOL
Well, I gotta go mail some letters. Our high today is forecast to be around 55 and the sun is shining again today. Hooray! All you gals in the frozen north stay warm.
Check with you later.
Thanks, Marsue, we'll bundle up.
The appraisor just left. He seemed impressed with everything and said we should have NO trouble getting the money we need for the improvements. We should hear from the lenders in a couple of days. Yea!
Okay, going to have my breakfast, now.
Tammy, how are the pups and momma doing? And MIL?
My gosh! How does one keep up with you guys?? LOL!!
Mau, you said
about those steps--you must be trying to go for the "bruised" look--black and blue. (Sorry about that--I couldn't help myself.
See the below picture. It doesn't show the black so much as the blue, but yet again, the color in my pictures never shows up quite right. This looks a lot more blue than it really is! I put the 4th and final coat of floor poly on the treads and the risers.
I think, I really do, that so many people have so much time to be on their computers, that the least you could all do is come here and help me! I've got 27 balusters, 2 handrails, 2 shoerails, 2 newel posts and 1 half newel post that need stain and then gel urethane. Currently, I'm working on a DVD/VCR cabinet that will need a few coats of the same gel urethane. The doors to said cabinet need another coat or 2 of Milk Paint put on them. I've also got a few pieces of wood work to stain and poly. The servant stairs need poly put on the edge risers. 3 coats will work good. If you could stay for at least a month, the floors upstairs that aren't already re-finished, will be sanded on Jan. 9th, so then we can stain the front area, spare bedroom and hallway, paint the back area where the servant stairs are, then we can apply 4 coats of the floor poly. Takers?? Anybody? Anybody??
Frozen bananas...yum, especially when dipped in chocolate and then rolled in peanuts before they freeze!
Kwan, about the boxes...just how long have those boxes been stacked? You said since moving in? I've still got boxes stacked too. We moved in May of '05. sigh. They give out money for improvements? Do we have to pay it back?? LOL!
Geez and on the Christmas shopping...I've still got a basketball to buy for my nephew and I need something for my BIL. Then of course, I haven't wrapped anything!! I don't have time. Our daughter told me today that I never should of put in "a garden". We should of just stayed inside working on the house! She says enough already! And I have to do all this myself...why? Oh yea, because I love doing it!! ROFLMBO! Life is grand in this 111 yr. old house!! Seen 'It's A Wonderful Life' lately? That house is my house....lol.....
Oh wait, one last thing.....if nobody wants to come and help me, can somebody please just come and clean for me?? It'll be fun! There's enough dog hair for somebody to make at least 5 more dogs!!
Oh wait! I forgot I had this picture too. I took this from the top. It does show the black and the blue! The wall color is way off, but in this picture, the stairs look about the right color. I have to say also, that is painted using Milk Paint. The real deal Milk Paint, so it does come out streaky looking. It's the normal way for it to look and IMHO, it goes in this house. I did some sanding down to wood, because "the servant" (ME) has walked many many times up and down the stairs and they're worn...lol....
Guess it's just you and me on here right now, Terry. The stairs look good but as far as coming and helping you--well, here's my answer to that: put your forefinger on your thumb with the thumb on the bottom and rub your forefinger around and around while humming to yourself: "my heart cries for you". ROTFLOL You asked the wrong person, girlie--I hate to paint! Now Pau, on the other hand, enjoys painting but he would forever be telling you how to do it--which is his way! LOL So you might not want his help after all. However, if you put us up in that bed and breakfast you say is nearby, then I might be persuaded to come and clean(I've been wanting a dog) while you and Pau paint. But there's a catch--we would have to wait until the weather gets warmer--no snow and ice for us! Wonder what kind of reaction you'll get from the other girls on your offer to let them help? LOL
Where is everyone tonight?
Hmmmmmmmmm Terry....thinkin' here. Now I would LOVE to see your 111 yr. old house for sure, as we love old houses and antiques. My house is over 100 yrs too....but no servants' quarters.
And....I DO like to paint, unlike Marilyn....but gee...being winter and all...welll....I think I'll pass!!! LOL!! I do like your stairs.
I just bought some milk paint myself for a an old dresser, but haven't even opened it yet. Can't wait to try it...just haven't had the time yet. Maybe after the holidays.
I wanna know what this 'Mau' thing is about ??????? Pleaseeeeeeee?????
Marcy--The "Mau" came from someone I used to work with who was like a daughter to me. When this young woman found out that my grandchildren call me Ma Susie (middle name sue--i.e.="susie") she started calling me "Ma" --only she was a terrible speller, so she spelled it "Mau". I told Terry this story and she has been calling me "Mau" ever since! So the 'secret' is out--that's how I became known as "Mau". LOL P.S. What have you been up to, Marcia Sue?
LOL Mau!
Terry, I'll come help you if you come help me... put in new flooring in 2 rooms, lay carpet in 2 rooms, paint 3 rooms, hang border in at least 3 rooms, and the list goes on and on LOL
And I know someone that would come clean for you, but the drive might be a bit much!! My friend Jess cleans for me for extra $$ and the next door neighbor asked me to order a couple Christmas presents for her, if she could "work them off" for me. I've been in that situation so many times, so its hard for me to say no. And my computer time here lately has been severely limited to say the least :(( Just so much going on. I ended up taking the next door neighbor to town today to pick her Christmas decorations up, tomorrow I think I get to stay home, Wednesday I have to take Jess and Zoe to Easter Seals for Zoe's evaluation, Thursday I take Zoe to the ENT for her appointment, and Friday I go to the same ENT. LOL Then Friday afternoon, I might load the kids up and go to New Lexington for the weekend to stay with a good friend. She really wants us to come, cause her hubby just left her and their 3 kids for another woman :(( but I've still got so much to do, I'm not sure I'm going to be able to.
Yes, Tori does have a weak stomach, I am really wondering why she got sick. Sarah and I both didn't feel good last night, but we didn't have anything the same at dinner or I'd blame it on food poisoning. Tori was fine after she threw up. Strange.....
I have to start wrapping Christmas presents tonight. We still have stuff at the station we don't have room for here yet. And my Christmas decorations are all at the other house still. I went to get them today, but couldn't find them. So I stopped at my oldest daughters house (she isn't mine but calls me mom) and her girlfriend said they are in the garage. They are supposed to get them out and put them in the living room for me so I can bring them home. Sigh. We did get a tree, or did I tell ya'll that already? Sigh. I can't remember. LOL
Ok, time to quit, I got to get busy.
Kwan, that house looks lived in to me too. My mom kept the house spotless when I was a kid, mine is never spotless. not sure how she did it. Although, I don't think she had as much "stuff". I really need to get rid of alot of stuff LOL.
hugs to all
Janis
Ha! LOL Now I know! I knew, if I was patient enough, the truth would come out.
Anyway, the boxes have been in the room since...May of '05! Isn't that funny? Yes, they give money away for improvements and yes, you have to pay it back. But, we're going to pay off all our other bills and only have the one bill to pay. Yea!
Where's Tammy? I hope things are okay with her and MIL and the puppies! I'm beginning to worry a little.
The stairs look great to me, Terry. I would come help. I can sit and supervise! LOL
Whew, that made me tired just reading what you have to do this week, Janis!
I was thinking food poisoning, too, until you said that none of you had the same thing to eat. It does sound strange, though. Yep, you told us that you bought a tree. If I lived closer, you would be welcome to borrow my ornaments--I didn't put up a tree this year--just set some arrangements around on tables and bought a huge poinsettia to put on the kitchen table. We're not going to be home on Christmas day anyway, so I didn't feel the need to put up a tree. I do have a pretty wreath on the outside, plus our lighted nativity figures. We're not entirely "bah humbug" around here--LOL!
Hey, Janis. We crossed.
It could be that Tori has allergies to certain foods. Have you checked that out? Sometimes when it comes up again, they're fine. And sorry to hear about your friend. I know how that is when, you want to get there and can't. My mom kept our house spotless too but we know how she did it. She had five kids to do it for her! LOL
Or maybe something in the restaurant? Something in the air supply?
Marilyn Sue....smiles.....thanks for the explanation! Well then...Mau it is!!
Today...we went shopping....and got...........NOTHING.!! DH wanted me to find something I wanted for Christmas....and would you believe...I could find NOTHING???? There is nothing I really need or want...except a greenhouse...and he won't buy me that!!! LOL....cheapskate! I've been talking about one for yrs now...and he always talks me out of it. So guess I will have to just buy my own.
I made caramels last night, and I'm still not done cutting and wrapping them. And I want to get some cookies made.
It was so cute....I talked with my 8 yr old grandaughter on the phone last night, and she said, "Grandma...aren't you going to put cookies out for Santa??" I can't believe she still believes in Santa, but she does, and she is almost 9! Is this normal????? LOL!
Anyway..that's what I did today, Mau. And how did your party go last night? And what did you do today?
Janis, I hope you get your tree decorations soon!
Well all, and Mau...smiles....I better get at that candy!! 5 lbs. of caramels is a lot to wrap!
Hugggs to all!
Caramels for postage, miss?
Hey girls! It's not so much painting that needs to be done, as staining and putting on the urethane! Just the thought of having to do 27 balusters makes my head spin. The servant stairs were covered up when we bought this old girl, I uncovered them. The PO that covered them up, did what with the banister that was up there originally? The electrician did find 2 plinth blocks and a piece of wood work that goes above a door or doorway. That was nice. But the banister!!! Who would just toss that out?
Janis, the flooring is what? Other than the carpet. The paint is what color? And border...do we have to? Are you sure you won't be bored to tears with it, in say, 6 months?? If you insist on border, heck, I can do that with my eyes closed. I've discovered my wrapping paper is under a bucket load of stuff that I can't get to by myself. So it's just going to have to wait. sigh. Oh and my mom kept/keeps her house spotless too. Isn't that why she had kids?? ;p
Marcy....you're not the Marcia that Mau is referring to, are you? That's my moms name. There was a door to door salesman years ago that always called my mom Marcy and it drove her bonkers. Her name is Marcia! Marcia Marcia Marcia! LOL! The Milk Paint that you bought, is it in powder form? If it is, then you've probably got what I've got. If it's not in powder form, then it's not the real deal, or so The Milk Paint Co. wants you to think! I saw some in cans, but I'm not familiar with it. I've only worked with the dry kind you mix with warm water.
kwan, that's hilarious!! Our boxes have been stacked the exact same length of time?! Well darn, if they wanted to give me money, then I'd take it, for sure. But if I have to pay it back? I don't want it! I received one of those fake checks in the mail last week for 25k. All I had to do was to call them and they'd really give me 25k!! Catch was the interest. 22%.....my mind isn't completely gone!
Mau, don't they make puppies down there in AR?? You're too funny. If you're waiting till it's warmer, I'll have everything done. Which means there's a spare bedroom! How are you on getting in and out of a clawfoot tub??
Good grief!! I type up a response and it tells me somebody posted when I was and it's almost everybody posting while I'm typing??? Man, I'm never going to keep up and I type 70 words a minute!! ;D
Terry that's funny! LOL We have a lady at work named Marsha. Marsha Marsha, Marsha!
