Dillonvale, OH(Zone 6a)

Hi back LOL

Only been home a bit and on my way out again, will post when I get back... boy I'm tired of running!! Got a little shopping done though:)

HUGGS!!!

(Zone 7a)

Oh boy, do I know what you mean, Larlienda. I had to take a nap, as well. Just couldn't stay awake. That feeling that you've missed something is aweful! LOL

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Hi all, just wanted to let you know that his Mom is back on the downhill side again. Please keep everyone in your prayers!
(((((((HUGS)))))))))) to all!
Tammy

Dillonvale, OH(Zone 6a)

Misty sorry about MIL thoughts and warm fuzzies coming your way.

Kwan,. so sorry about the promotion. Did they tell you why?

Lynda, hope you get adjusted to the medication soon, that is the pits :((

Marsue, how is Buddy doing??

Marie, no GED until his class graduates. If he lives that long LOL

Well, I took the 17 yr old to his eye appt today and then to his other grandparents for the next 2+ weeks. I didn't yell or scream, I was pleasant, asked him very nicely to please catch up on his work before he leaves for NM, helped him buy a new pair of shoes, and a couple new shirts and a coat. Steve and Barry's had everything in the store $8.98 and under, so I got him 2 shirts and a coat for 25$!! The shoes were $75, but he had $60 to go toward them so it wasn't so bad. I gave him $20 to keep too, as he's gonna be gone until at least the 27th. All the yelling in the world hasn't done anything, maybe killing him with kindness will? LOL Doubt it, but I'm not gonna see him for a while so we had a decent day. Was actually nice to spend time with him and not be arguing.

Did a bit of Christmas shopping, I've still got to buy for 2 nieces and a nephew, and my mom's boyfriend (another LONG story) and birthday presents for the twins. I think I'm gonna give my sis and BIL a gift card for dinner out too.

How in the world did I spend $100 at Dollar General???? LOL It adds up so quick. Got a really pretty ceramic cake platter and server though that match my kitchen (or will when its done) for $6 Its a Gibson too. I was pleasantly surprised!! Got a couple of kitchen rugs too.. will take pics for you.

It rained so much here today, the creeks and streams are really high, not sure about the river, but its probably up too. Everything is a muddy mess :((

How everyone had a good day!!

Hugs,
Janis

And here is the rug, got 2 of them

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

Thanks, Janis, for asking about Buddy. He has his good days and his bad days with his back. Today we went and got a load of free mulch at Searcy Mulch and Buddy and I and our DGS spread the mulch on our flowerbeds this afternoon. DGS came home with me after I went to his school to help out in his classroom this afternoon. After we spread the mulch, Buddy came inside and has been on the heating pad ever since. :o(( It doesn't seem to matter whether he does any physical work or whether he sits around--his back hurts him regardless so he figures he might as well do what he can so he won't go crazy with cabin fever.
The sun was actually shining here for a change today and although it was a little cold (not like some of you all are having) it still felt good to get outside in the fresh air today.
I can't believe you got that pie plate and server at Dollar General, Janis. That is really pretty. I like the rugs, too.--glad you had a decent day with your oldest. :o)

Sorry to hear about MIL's downturn, Tammy. Keep us posted.

Lynda, hope you get adjusted to that new med. real soon. Sometimes it takes a while for the new med to "kick in" and for your body to adjust to it.

Hi, Marcy! Hope you and the grandkids get to make those cookies this weekend! :o)
Kwan--hope you got a nap! :o)

Here's a pic of DGS (Zach) helping Pa Buddy spread that mulch. Note the missing two front teeth! LOL and two more are loose! Note the sunshine, too! Hooray!

Hi all,
I just wanted to stop in and let you know that Shaun's mom is going down hill fast. He hadn't even received a call from his Sister today, but he had a bad feeling and went to the hospital. He learned that she had signed a DNR this morning while she had her coherency left, which she doesn't have much left as of this evening. She spent most of her time sleeping, and mostly unresponsive, so he came home for a while and then went back tonight. I haven't received an update as of yet. I just thank God that they allowed us to sneak Sienna in to see her Grandma! Anyway, he pulled a Nurse aside today and ask her point blank and she told him that they are figuring she has 3-5 days left, if that. He made sure that they have him down for a contact so he will get information first hand and be able to know what is going on. Your continued prayers are greatly appreciated, and I appreciate all of you!

((((((((HUGS)))))))))
Tammy

New Madison, OH(Zone 5a)

Tammy she is in our prayers. Huggggggs.
Marilyn, your grandson is so cute!!! Or should I say good lookin' !!!
Don't tell him I said cute....lol!
That mulch looks great! Gosh, I wish it was time to mulch here!! Doesn't look like it was too awfully cold there today!
Tell Buddy I feel for him with the back pain! But you have to just keep moving and do what you can.
Janis...love the rugs and plate! You got a good buy!!
Well, I tried to hem some jeans today. Bought size S...for short....and still had to take 2 1/2 inches off!! Usually I don't have to hem them, but these were not short! Anyway...I bent the sewing machine needle and had to stop because I had no more needles! So I called my g/f who lives close, and she is going to hem them for me! How sweet!
I had them all cut off and hems pressed in, so it won't be too much of a job for her. I wrapped one present today, and wrote one card! Wow!!
Got a lot done, huh?????
Have to get my shopping done tomorrow, before the snow hits on Saturday.
Lynda, hope you get adjusted to that medicine soon. Is it helping the RLS yet..or can you tell?
Hi Kwan! Take a nap for me!! I NEVER get to take naps!
Well...off to bed here. Have to be up early tomorrow. Take care all.

(Zone 7a)

Hello! Misty, so sorry to hear your news. Has everyone had a chance to say their goodbyes? My heart is with you and your family. I've become so attached to everyone here.

Good buys, Janis. We can't find things like that here at the dollar stores.

Marsue, glad Buddy is taking the sensible route. Excercise is better than just sitting. That makes everything else go. (Like my hips! LOL)

I can't wait for spring. Lots of folks have been very nice to send seeds. I still have to get that postage. Dang! DH just left for the store and I forgot to tell him and he doesn't have his cell. Been so busy at work, things just slip through my mental cracks! LOL

DH sent me this...

~~~LOVE IN A MENTAL HOSPITAL ~~~
Jim and Edna were both patients in a mental hospital.
One day while they were walking past the hospital swimming pool, Jim
suddenly jumped into the deep end. He sank to the bottom of the pool
and stayed there. Edna promptly jumped in to save him. She swam to the
bottom and pulled Jim out.
When the Head Nurse Director became aware of Edna's
heroic act, she immediately ordered her to be discharged from the
hospital, as she now considered her mentally stable.
When she went to tell Edna the news she said, "Edna, I
have good news and bad news. The good news is you are being discharged;
since you were able to rationally respond to a crisis by jumping in and
saving the life of another, the administrator decided that you have a
sound mind.
The bad news is, Jim, the patient you saved, hung
himself in the bathroom with his bathrobe belt right after you saved
him. I am so sorry, but he's dead."
Edna replied, "! He didn't hang himself, I put him there
to
dry. How soon can I go home?
Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)
OMG! I needed that! Thanks, it was hilarious and even got a laugh out of Shaun!
(Zone 7a)
Glad I was able to bring a smile. You holding up okay? I have more of these if you need them
Like this one...Where do pets come from?
A newly discovered chapter in the Book of Genesis has provided the answer to
"Where do pets come from?"
Adam and Eve said, "Lord, when we were in the garden, you walked with us every day. Now we do not see you any more. We are lonesome here, and it is difficult for us to remember how much you love us."
And God said, "No problem! I will create a companion for you that will be with you forever and who will be a reflection of my love for you, so that you will love me even when you cannot see me. Regardless of how selfish or childish or unlovable you may be, this new companion will accept you as you are and will love you as I do, in spite of yourselves."
And God created a new animal to be a companion for Adam and Eve.
And it was a good animal. And God was pleased.
And the new animal was pleased to be with Adam and Eve and he wagged his tail.
And Adam said, "Lord, I! have a lready named all the animals in the Kingdom and I cannot think of a name for this new animal."
And God said, "No problem. Because I have created this new animal to be a reflection of my love for you, his name will be a reflection of my own name, and you will call him
DOG."
And Dog lived with Adam and Eve and was a companion to them and loved them.
And they were comforted. And God was pleased.
And Dog was content and wagged his tail.
After a while, it came to pass that an angel came to the Lord and said, "Lord, Adam and Eve have become filled with pride. They strut and preen like peacocks and they believe they are worthy of adoration. Dog has indeed taught them that they are loved, but perhaps too well."
And God said, "No problem! I will create for them a companion who will be with them forever and who will see them as they are. The companion will remind them of their limitations, so they will know that they are not always worthy of adoration."
And God created CAT to be a companion to Adam and Eve.
And Cat would not obey them. And when Adam and Eve gaze! d into Cat's eyes, they were reminded that they were not the supreme beings.
And Adam and Eve learned humility.
And they were greatly improved.
And God was pleased.
And Dog was happy.
And Cat didn't give a **** one way or the other.
Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)
Oh now that was cute!
I am doing ok for now. Sienna and I tried to talk to her a little while ago, but it was difficult. he did say she seemed better tonight than earlier today. They gave her a sleeping and nerve pill and she went to sleep on him. So, he said he tucked her in and gave her a kiss and told her he loved her. 'tear drop'
He can't remember exactly what it is, but he says she has some sort of infection, not Renal Failure, but a possible Renal Infection? They took blood today, but it will be 2 days before the results are in (WHY NOT DO AN EMERGENCY TEST FOR SOMETHING THIS IMPORTANT????), and they only have her on the normal antibiotics til then. They say if this infection is what they believe that they can only give her the special antibiotic for 5 days, then it will be worse than the actual infection. It has been too long since I have dealt with Medical Mumbo Jumbo and what not, but I am thinking that he might be correct with what he is talking about? If someone knows best, please let me know as he hasn't been able to catch a doctor to find out any specifics. Thanks again for all your thoughts and prayers, it means more than anyone of us can say in words!
(Zone 7a)
Have him grab someone and ask him to write down what they tell him. Then, I'll know what to tell you.
Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)
I am sure he will probably go by in the morning, but I donno that I will catch him or not to have him ask. He is at work now, after NO sleep, and very, very stressed! He is such a Momma's boy, I really fear what it will do to him once she is gone. :( After her crashing last week, then signing the DNR this morning, anything can happen. I am just glad to see him spending the time with her and letting her know how important she is to him! I will try to have him get more info, and to write it down, as it would be nice to know what he is being told. Thanks C, I really do appreciate all of you!
Oh, if you get a chance, you will have to stop in the Parking Lot Forum and see Sienna's 'Dear Santa' letter! :)
Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)
Well, I think I gotta give it up and try to get some sleep. Heres to hoping you all have a joyous and restful sleep! I think I am ready for another 'lets sleep til noon' day!
BIG BIG ((((((((HUGS)))))))) To ALL of You! :)
(Zone 7a)
Good night and sleep well!
Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)
Thanks, I hope you can as well! Maybe everything will leave you along for a change and you will get the most wonderful nights sleep you have ever had! :)
(Zone 7a)
I'm well on my way there already. I just wanted to make sure you were okay.
Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)
What night owls we are Kwan! Although I hate it when I wake up this early, it stinks to high heaven! I don't have any new news yet, so hope to hear something GOOD later!
BIG HUGS! :)
Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)
Well now, how things change over night! I just talked to Shaun and he said she is much feistier this morning! He did get to talk with the Doctor and was told that the nurse had spoken before she knew what she was saying! She has a bladder infection that has unfortunately reached her blood, but they already received confirmation on the blood work and our treating it with a very strong antibiotic that SHOULD kick it in the rear! At this time I am feeling more upbeat, but then I think back to when she crashed last week, and now she has signed the DNR, and you just don't know what tomorrow will bring. But, I have to look on the bright side knowing she is better today, and to cherish what time we do have left! Thanks again for all the prayers, I know they have been heard!
Love and Hugs to ALL!
Tammy
Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)
. . .and love and hugs to you and Shaun, Tammy, and to the rest of the family, too. Continued prayers for comfort and encouragement are going up for all of you!
I'm going to check out Sienna's letter to Santa right now.
Marilyn
Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)
Thanks, Marilyn! :)
Norfolk, VA
misty, just read the letter to Santa.....that brought back memories !! when my kids were young, they would write thier letters and leave them for Santa. about a week before Christmas, Santa would sneak in the house and take the letters along with thier stockings. He always left a candy cane in place of them.
Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)
I love all the ideas I am getting from her letter! With my brain function these days it was hard to just get in the Christmas Spirit! It helped when my oldest decided to put the tree up, and then the letter! She keeps wanting to add to it, though! LOL She has now decided she wants a car like his girlfriend, and she drives a black convertible Mustang with her name in pink, NOT gonna happen! LOL
Norfolk, VA
my daughter always wanted a mustang! one year in her stocking Santa left a box of animal crackers, but instead of them being animal shapes they were all the different makes and years of mustangs!! to this day, she still has that box,never opened and still full.
Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)
A 5 yr. old with a Mustang!! Definitely not gonna happen! LOL unless you give her one of those 'matchbox' cars, too. If the rest of you haven't read Sienna's letter to Santa on the other forum, you need to read it so you will know what we are talking about. LOL
Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)
Oh B, I would LOVE to find some of those crackers! Then I could tell all 3 of them that Mommy DID buy them their first cars! HA HA HA
Boy, I am feeling like an evil Mommy right now! LOL
Norfolk, VA
check your local wal-mart,target places like that. i can't remember now where i got them from. you are not an evil mommy!!! you have to add spice and a little humor to the holidays. one day your kids will appreciate it. when they are grown and starting families of thier own, they will remember all the little things you did to make it special for them. even the silly things. i still do alot of things my parents did when we were growing up. there is nothing like passing on traditions and seeing them repeated year after year.
Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)
Well, we don't have any stores bigger than Wal-Mart or K Mart around here, so I will definitely be checking them for the cookies! And I really think I am gonna do the note and the car in the driveway! HA HA HA I think it will be so cool if I can pass down traditions to my children! Maybe I ought to learn how to make Pumpkin Pie for him just so he will have a little something to smile about after I do this to him! LOL
Norfolk, VA
yea, you might want to do that!! LOL
Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)
Better be finding me a recipe, QUICK! LOL
Norfolk, VA
the recipe is on the back of the can of pumpkin pie filling! been good chatting with you, gotta run for a few. hugs and prayers for you and your family,misty. i'll try to check in later,i don't get up here on the weekends and tomorrow is hubby's b-day.i should probably make him a cake.....if i run across those cookies while i'm out, i'll let you know and get them to you before the 24th!!!!!!
Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)
Nice chatting with you too, B! Tell Hubby Happy B-Day from Missouri!
That would be awesome if you could find the cookies, especially since we live in such a Podunk Town! LOL Have a great weekend! :)
Tolleson, AZ(Zone 9a)
Misty glad to hear your MIl is doing better. We will continue to pray for her.
I loved your daughter's Santa list. Made me smile.
I also love the idea of the matchbox car. My son has been bugging me for one too. although since he is grounded for life and does not have a license it is the closet he will get to a vehicle for a long time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)
Grounded for life, what on earth did he do??? LOL
Glad it made you smile as well!
Tolleson, AZ(Zone 9a)
Hmmm took my brand new truck down the road for a spin with no thought that his grandma next door would see him!!! (Did I say he is not the most brilliant star in the sky??)
Though I would share this:
Holiday Eating Tips:
1. Avoid carrot sticks. Anyone who puts carrots on a holiday buffet table knows nothing of the Christmas spirit. In fact, if you see carrots, leave immediately. Go next door, where they're serving rum balls.
2. Drink as much eggnog as you can. And quickly. Like fine single-malt scotch, it's rare. In fact, it's even rarer than single-malt scotch. You can't find it any other time of year but now. So drink up! Who cares that it has 10,000 calories in every sip? It's not as if you're going to turn into an eggnog-aholic or something. It's a trea t. Enjoy it. Have one for me. Have two. It's later than you think. It's Christmas!
3. If something comes with gravy, use it. That's the whole point of gravy. Gravy does not stand al one. Pour it on.. Make a volcano out of your mashed potatoes. Fill it with gravy. Eat the volcano. Repeat.
4. As for mashed potatoes, always ask if they're made with skim milk or whole milk. If it's skim, pass. Why bother? It's like buying a sports car with an automatic
transmission.
5. Do not have a snack before going to a party in an effort to control your eating. The whole point of going to a Christmas party is to eat other people's food for free. Lots of it. Hello?
6. Under no circumstances should you exercise between now and New Year's. You can do that in January when you have nothing else to do. This is the time for long naps, which you'll need after circling the buffet table while carrying a 10-pound plate of food and that vat of eggnog.
7. If you come across something really good at a buffet table, like frosted Christmas cookies in the shape and size of Santa, position yourself near them and don't budge. Have as many as you can before bec oming the center of attention. They're like a beautiful pair of shoes. If you leave them behind, you're never going to see them again.
8. Same for pies. Apple. Pumpkin. Mincemeat. Have a slice of each. Or, if you don't like mincemeat, have two apples and one pumpkin. Always have three. When else do you get to have more than one dessert? Labor Day?
9. Did someone mention fruitcake? Granted, it's loaded with the mandatory celebratory calories, but avoid it at all cost. I mean, have SOME standards.
10. One final tip: If you don't feel terrible when you leave the party or get up fr om the table, you haven't been paying attention. Reread tips; start over, but hurry, January is just around the corner.
Remember this motto to live by:
"Life sho uld NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in
one hand, martini in the other, totally worn out and screaming,
"WOO HOO what a ride!"
Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)
OMG! I loved that story! May I share it with others, please?! LOL
Oh no, your son must be a very unhappy camper about now!
Tolleson, AZ(Zone 9a)
Yes please share it. I thought it was great.
No he is not the happiest camper. :o)
