That was a great Christmas funny! LOL
Sure hope our friend can fix the other puter, this is awful!
Stop and visit, talk all you want Pt 4
Sorry I was gone for few. Had to clean up cat barf. Eew!
Yes, the jokes are fun. Wish I could find the ones from last year. All I could find was Calvin and the Snowmen. I have to put them in my picture file and then send them. Too funny.
Lynda, I have RLS too. Feel for you girl. Between RLS, acid reflux and insomnia, it's hard sometimes to get good nights sleep! LOL
Can you all explain exactly what symtoms you have with the RLS?
I was gonna post a pic of my very first Amaryllis bloom for all of you, then realized I CAN'T on this puter.
Hope everyone feels better and has a wonderful day! :)
Oh, Misty! Sorry! We want to see it. You tell your friend to hurry up, please.
We are going to dinner there tonight, so I hope to have the other one back by tomorrow at least! It is just so pretty with four blooms opening on one stalk! I told DH last night that I MUST have more when they go on clearance! LOL This one is the Red Lion. :)
Those are pretty. I had one a few years ago but (gulp) I killed it. I picked up some paperwhite bulbs the other day.
Cute!
Oh how cute, B!
Kwan, do you know how you killed it? that stinks! I would send you some seeds that I have, but I hear they take FOREVER to do anything. That is why they are still in the package! LOL
I dropped it out of box while moving. Shattered the pot and cut the bulb to shreds! I felt aweful!
Well that really does stink! It went to Amaryllis heaven then!
Yup.
Where is everyone today? It's still awefully quiet.
This is in another thread and was told it was ok to share it. :)
Dear Santa,
I've been a good mom all year. I've fed, cleaned and cuddled my children on demand, visited the doctor's office more than my doctor and sold sixty-two cases of candy bars to raise money to plant a shade tree on the school play ground. I was hoping you could spread my list out over several Christmases, since I had to write this letter with my son's red crayon, on the back of a receipt in the laundry room between cycles, and who knows when I'll find anymore free time in the next 18 years. Here are my Christmas wishes:
I'd like a pair of legs that don't ache (in any color, except purple, which I already have) and arms that don't hurt or flap in the breeze, but are strong enough to pull my screaming child out of the candy aisle in the grocery store. I'd also like a waist, since I lost mine somewhere in the seventh month of my last pregnancy.
If you're hauling big ticket items this year I'd like fingerprint resistant windows and a radio that only plays adult music, a television that doesn't broadcast any programs containing talking animals, and a refrigerator with a secret compartment behind the crisper where I can hide to talk on the phone. On the practical side, I could use a talking doll that says, "Yes, Mommy" to boost my parental confidence, along with two kids who don't fight and three pairs of jeans that will zip all the way up without the use of power tools. I could also use a recording of Tibetan monks chanting "Don't eat in the living room" and "Take your hands off your brother," because my voice seems to be just out of my children's hearing range and can only be heard by the dog.
If it's too late to find any of these products, I'd settle for enough time to brush my teeth and comb my hair in the same morning, or the luxury of eating food warmer than room temperature without it being served in a Styrofoam container. If you don't mind, I could also use a few Christmas miracles to brighten the holiday season. Would it be too much trouble to declare ketchup a vegetable? It will clear my conscience immensely. It would be helpful if you could coerce my children to help around the house without demanding payment as if they were the bosses of an organized crime family.
Well, Santa, the buzzer on the dryer is calling and my son saw my feet under the laundry room door. I think he wants his crayon back. Have a safe trip and remember to leave your wet boots by the door and come in and dry off so you don't catch cold. Help yourself to cookies on the table but don't eat too many or leave crumbs on the carpet.
Yours Always, MOM
P.S. One more thing...you can cancel all my requests if you can keep my children young enough to believe in Santa.
That's too cute! I still believe. Does that count?
yesum, it sure do! LOL
I was looking at your Q about the honeysuckle. Do you know what kind you have? There are a few.
Hi girls! How cute that Santa tale was!
Marie....my RLS does the same as Kwan's. It actually will wake me out of sleep, with my legs flailing everywhere (ask my DH!) Getting up and walking and doing leg exercises is the only thing that helps me...sometimes up half the night. I can remember when I was a little girl, having it, and the only thing that helped was to have the cat beside me purring! It seemed to calm me down.
Now I have to be drugged to calm them down...lol! It seems to be mostly an inherited thing too. Plus...Kwan...don't know about you, but I think that humidity has a role in it too. At least it's not life threatening!!
It's really dry here, so I can't make a statement about that. Yeah, it is genetic. My DM DD both have it, too. I have a book about it and it says that caffeine and chocolate are triggers. I have cut down on my coffee (gotta have it in the morning) and cut the chocolate almost completely out. It has helped a lot.
Kwan, I'm not sure which one it is, but I assume it is fairly common? It has the yellow/white flowers on it...Not much help, huh?!
Are they the kind with the little flaring lip?
Thanks for the info. I was curious about it. I have issues with a shooting pain in my knees and leg and I move my legs around a lot too. But it is not what you all have. I do not drink coffee but oh my if I had to give up my chocolate!!! I think I would need to be put in a padded room and the door locke dwhile my body went through with drawls!!
I had to go through rehab. It was not a fun time. DH was very supportive and came to see me everyday. Brought me little things to keep me occupied and read to me.
This is the one I 'think' it is:
http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/1640/
To give up chocolate?! God forbid!
If it is, the file says it won't be worthwhile. But I say, give it shot. What's to lose?
ecrane recommended trying the seed germination forum, so I will see if they have some info, too. :)
I'm getting more plants! LOL AND they are FREE!!!!
Gonna get Elephant Ears, Yucca Palm, a Boston Fern, and I forget what all she said she had! All I gotta do is share some of mine with her! :)
Hey all, I went back to bed this morning, and slept til 12:30!! Guess I needed it. Now I've got that too much sleep headache, but I can live with that :))
Haven't heard anything from child support, so I'm slowly relaxing on that front. Now if my mouth would heal up I'd be pretty good!
I think I'm gonna pick the kids up at the bus stop and take them to get hair cuts. Tori and Sarah both have their bangs hanging in their eyes. Mine needs cut too, but I'll do that another day, when I don't have all the kids with me. Tomorrow I have to take my oldest to the eye dr, and then an hour away to his other grandparents, where he'll be until after Christmas. He and his grandparents are flying to NM for Christmas, the family is gathering at his uncles house, so he'll get so see his dad too.
Still not sure if we are going to Disney World for Christmas, I figure it's gonna be a last minute thing. Mike asked me how much notice I needed, and I told him I didn't really need that much, just long enough to make sure I had enough clean clothes to pack for the kids. Has anyone flown with little ones? What kind of ID do they need??
time to go get the kiddo's bbl
hugs!!
Janis
Go girl! LOL
I'll be back on tomorrow sometime. Have to work a late shift tonight and an early one tomorrow. Yuck!
Bye!
Have fun! LOL
Bye for now, and I hope to have other puter back by then!
Okay. I can't answer J's question but I can ask at work tonight. I'll post what I find out before bed.
And I REALLY have to go now.
Later!
Well, I know that there is probably nobody here right now but I have been out this morning and then taking care of paperwork and paying bills till now. I just turned on the computer and found that you all have been discussing a myriad of subjects from amaryllis to paper-whites to honeysuckle to RLS, etc. I turned off my computer early last night so I wouldn't be tempted to stay up too late. I was tired yesterday after planting bulbs and making a run to the airport, etc.
I don't have anything wrong with me except high blood pressure and I do have a pacemaker to keep the "ticker" beating properly(oh, yes, a repaired heart valve which is working fine now). Thank goodness I don't have RLS--if I had to give up chocolate, well, I don't even want to contemplate that ever happening! LOL
gray.
Bhaugh-loved the smile story!
Loved the Santa story, too, Misty. I heard a good one on the radio today and I am going to go find it on the website they mentioned. BRB
Here it is--to all you moms who still have children at home:
TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS FOR MOMS
'Twas the night before Christmas, when all thru the abode,
Only one creature was stirring and she was cleaning the commode.
The children were finally sleeping, all snug in their beds,
While visions of Hot Wheels & Barbie, flipped through their heads.
The dad was snoring in front of the TV,
With a half-constructed bicycle propped on his knee.
So only the mom heard the reindeer hooves clatter,
Which made her sigh, "Now what is the matter?!"
With toilet bowl brush still clutched in her hand,
She descended the stairs and saw the old man.
He was covered with ashes and soot, which fell with a shrug,
"Oh great," muttered the mom, "Now I have to clean the rug."
"Ho Ho Ho!" cried Santa, "I'm glad you're awake."
"Your gift was especially difficult to make."
"Thanks, Santa, but all I want is time alone."
"Exactly!" he chuckled, "So, I've made you a clone."
"A clone?" she muttered, "What good is that?"
"Run along, Santa, I've no time for chit chat."
Then out walked the clone - the mother's twin,
Same hair, same eyes, same double chin.
"She'll cook, she'll dust, she'll mop every mess.
You'll relax, take it easy, watch The Young & The Restless."
"Fantastic!" the mom cheered. "My dream has come true!"
"I'll shop, I'll read, I'll sleep a night through!"
From the room above, the youngest did fret,
"Mommy?! Come quickly, I'm scared and I'm wet."
The clone replied, "I'm coming, sweetheart."
"Hey," the mom smiled, "She sure knows her part."
The clone changed the small one and hummed her tune,
As she bundled the child in a blanket cocoon.
"You're the best mommy ever. I really love you."
The clone smiled and sighed, "And I love you, too."
The mom frowned and said, "Sorry, Santa, no deal."
That's MY child's LOVE she is trying to steal."
Smiling wisely Santa said, "To me it is clear,
Only one loving mother is needed here."
The mom kissed her child and tucked her in bed.
"Thank You, Santa, for clearing my head.
I sometimes forget, it won't be very long,
When they'll be too old for my cradle and song."
The clock on the mantle began to chime.
Santa whispered to the clone, "It works every time."
With the clone by his side Santa said, "Goodnight.
Merry Christmas, dear Mom, You will be all right."
Hang in there, girls!!--from one who has been there.
Huge gripe coming-----
Got a phone call today from my 17 YO's instructor at his "online school" We enrolled him in an online school thinking (with his promise) he would actually do the work. We had tried a traditional HS, and he refused to go, and refused to do the work when he did go. He hasn't turned in any assignments since Nov 9th. He should be almost done with the semesters work, and hasn't done any of it. :(( I'm so tired of fighting with him. So now we are actively researching "boot camp" type boarding schools. When he comes back from NM after Christmas, he is going someplace. Now its a question of where, and how much its gonna cost us. :(( Why are kids today so out of control??? When I was his age, I was afraid to bring home a C, let alone not do the work at all. I was in bed by 9 PM on weeknights, 10 on weekends, and in school every day unless I was really sick. I've had him on probation for being an "unruly child" and nothing changed. I'm so fed up and disgusted. I thought raising a disabled child was hard, its nothing compared to a teenager!!
Well, on a better note, got the girls hair cut, it looks much better now. And we had a decent outing, no huge fights or temper tantrums.
Marsue, thanks for the Christmas post, it did make me smile :))
sigh, time for bed for the kiddo's I'll be back later on, if I don't just crawl into a corner and cry LOL
Hugs,
Janis
Hi all! Got the puter back up and running, but still not quite up to par I don't think. BUT, it is better than the old Dell! :) I loved the Christmas Story! Thanks for that! Hope are are well and happy! :)
(((((((((HUGS)))))))))))
Had to check in for a moment before bed.
Marsue, that is wonderful. This is my favorite part...
"Thank You, Santa, for clearing my head.
I sometimes forget, it won't be very long,
When they'll be too old for my cradle and song."
Got my kinda sad for the old days. (She's 29) But I loved it all.
Glad to hear the computer is back.
Sort of bad news but not really when I really think about it. I will not be offered the managers position I was applying for. On the down side of not getting it, it's a better position, more money and I get to be the boss. On the up side, no driving for an hour in the snow, no uncompensated long hours, no whiny employees. (I get to be the whiner! LOL)
Anyway, I'm not sad about it.
Good night, everyone. I'll be back on in the afternoon tomorrow.
Love to all of you!
marsue, that was great!! can i borrow it from you??
(((((((woofens))))))) hang in there
misty, glad you got a working computer now!!
kwan, sorry bout the promotion....but if your happy thats all that matters!!
sure, bhaugh, go ahead. It's not "my" poem, anyway. I got it here:
www.jjjasper.com
Sorry about the promotion, kwan, but glad you are not going to have to make that longer drive. There's a better position for you somewhere closer to home--I'm sure of it!
Hold on, Janis. We're with you here, girl!
thankyou marsue!! i know of a few that will appreciate it
kwanjin sorry about the promotion but I am glad you will not have so much of a headache.
Janis hang in there. I he capable of taking his GED? I have a friend who has 9 kids. Her 17 year old is one of the smartest kids I know. He is an ADHD kid and he did not make it in school either. High school just was not his thing. He has been working for the past year and now is taking some college classes at the community college.
I think school is very different from when we were his age. It seems to me that to most teachers it is just a job. Very few have that desire to help the tough kids. I can understand why to because all of their authority has been taken away. Hang in there and I will keep you all in my prayers.

Hi everyone. Marilyn...that santa story was great. I loved it!
Hey Janis, hang in there girl. We are here for you.
Kwan....sorry about the promotion, but like Marilyn says, there will be something better down the road for you. I'm glad you don't have to drive all that way though.
Misty...yayyy on getting the puter fixed!!
Nothing much going on here at all right now. Just trying to get ready for Christmas...and trying to figure out when I can have my gkids over to make cookies. They love to do the cutouts. I was thinking this Saturday, but it's supposed to snow...maybe a good bit. So we will see!!!
