Snow Photos!!

Oh yeah!

Upper Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 5a)

I agree - there's nothing like staying home when there is a snow storm going on outside (DH does the snow blowing and shoveling so he desn't agree with me)!! When I worked we also looked forward to snow days. When February comes I'm very sick of snow but I like the Northeast so I guess I have to put up with it. Pixie - I knew you were aware of the fact we were going to get more snow. I just couldn't help posting the comment! LOL Eleanor

Eleanor, are you tipping the salt shaker as you type? LOL

Some snow-covered weeds from today. No, these are not in the garden, but on the back hill ~ LOL

Who said there were only a few inches on the ground? There are only a few inches left on the places where we already shoveled two or three times this morning, everywhere else has feet not inches. Our town has a relatively new email and telephone alert system that works - sometimes accurately - to tell us when school lets out early or something like that. Today we got a recorded phone message and email letting us know that bus students were being released at 1:15 pm at both the middle school and the high school, but that they didn't anticipate any changes for the elementary school students! All after school activities were canceled - of course - but it didn't say anything about the walkers, you know, kids who walk to or from school or whose parents pick them up. So I called, and they said "who said the bus students get dismissed early? I'm phoning the Superintendent's Office immediately!" x, Carrie

I do love looking at the photos from the warmth of my home!

I actually ventured out to take a few pics today.

Pixie, you really captured the feeling of snowy winter.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Very nice Celeste. How cold was it when you were out?

Upper Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 5a)

That evil white stuff certainly does make beautiful pics. All of the photos are wonderful. I didn't venture out very far to take my pics and get close ups - boots aren't tall enough!! Eleanor

Eleanor and Celeste, can I come over to play?
I actually did go skiing today for the first time this season, and am now exhausted. That first day is always a little tough, and it was snowing and the top third of the mountain was covered in fog. but it cleared up by noon, and we had fun regardless.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Victor, I like your sparkling snow, and nice pond tracks bebop.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Thanks Bebop, I didn't have to try! LOL

It was 22° Victor, but the wind chill made it 8°..I didn't stay out long!

Eleanor, I stepped off the 'beaten path' and sank past my knee's and still hadn't hit solid ground before I removed my foot.

Deb, you can come over to play anytime!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

BTW Victor, I don't particular LIKE dirty snow pictures, and thanks very much, but i think I have enough!

xx, C

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Nice pics, I am going to vote for Victor's 'Time stopped' rain barrel and Bebops pond tracks.

I took a similar photo to this with sky as a background and I took one with snow today and the autofocus on my eyes has a problem staring at it.LOL

Deb, you can come and play anytime! Where do you ski in the Fingerlakes region? Pixie, I didn't have a beaten path to step off of - unless my drive way is the beaten path. No one has walked out onto the yard since it has snowed so I had to make my own path. I just walked a short distance cause the snow was over the top of my boots. I don't like the feel of snow inside my boots. You have a lot more snow than we do and I heard on the weather report that you were still getting the storm in Maine that we had last night!! Eleanor

Bristol Mountain, more of a hill than a mountain!! Actually quite a few ski slopes in the area, but that one is closest.

Upper Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 5a)

Pixie - "I'm still looking for my lost shaker of salt"! I'm not as quick witted as Victor so it took me a long time to think up a good response!! Had a little help from Jimmy!!! Eleanor

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Eleanor, help from Jimmy is always good! Speaking of Jimmy, my DH loves him and "Cheeseburger in Paradise". DD lives in Florida and Jimmy Buffet was playing at some boat show/race there. She had a pass from her company to go see him for free. She & her BF went to Goodwill and bought 80's beach clothes and beads so they would be in the theme of things! Then she called her Dad who had just had surgery so he could listen to Jimmy too and she snappred pictures for him also. Well DH was on pain meds then and if you ask him about it now...you would swear he was there with her not in bed messed up!!

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Great story, pixie. I, too, like Jimmy Buffet. Such an easy way of living! *sigh*

Here's one from yesterday

Nice shot, Candyce!

Van Etten, NY(Zone 5a)

Candyce, you really got those grosbeaks in action. Such beautiful birds.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Oh Candyce, they are beautiful! My bird fedder is messed up , need a new one so i'm not getting the usual traffic. Either that or they are smart birds and went south this year!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Even in the city, or at least just outside it, everything is pretty if you start looking about 15 ft off the ground, All the trees are white and pretty. The school has this semi-new emergency notification system to let everyone know if they're going to have early dismissal or late start or staggered dismissal - they do that a lot, so the kids who take the bus don't get run down by the mommies coming to pick up their kids. It's been really screwed up recently! A good idea but it needs a little work... x, C

Eleanor

p.s. - I hope it takes you there but I won't know until I check it out!! I've never been very good at links!

Upper Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 5a)

It worked so come on over to more pics of snow - after all there's nothing else to take photos of!! Eleanor

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Before I head to the new thread, I have to tell you all what gorgeous photos you had waiting for me on my return after our trip up to see some snow for ourselves. Too many nice shots to do justice to, since I have so much to catch up on, but I especially enjoyed the bird photos in the snow...really LOVE the cardinal and the hawk and the grosbeaks! Actually, all of the others were just gorgeous too! So nice to be back and to see so many lovely shots!
