Snow Photos!!

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

There is a "charity" cat that comes to my house for meals that looks really a lot like Shadow. The cat has a home somewhere - he just likes to eat two free meals at my house and drive my Holly and Wallingford wild! Someone else worked on his matts this summer and now except for the matts on his chest (he bites!) he is huge and fluffy! Is Shadow a special breed or just special because he is yours?

Shadow is beautiful

Grand-Falls, NB(Zone 4a)

Just special because he's mine.
Thanks Candyce

You should put that in the photo contest next year!

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

That is a good pic Bebop.

Here is the winter version of this pic.

Beautiful, bebop!!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Bebop, that photo is a definite photo contest candidate!

Al - you have an exceptionally good eye for interesting pictures!

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Thanks. I have been retaking some summer pics for before and after projects.

Bebop - I played with your pic a bit. Hope you don't mind.

Al, I don't mind a bit. How did you get rid of the graininess? PhotoShop? Maybe I should just go ahead and get the current version for the Mac.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

That is in Elements. I never used that filter before - Diffuse/Anisotropic. I will have to try it on some other grainy photos.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Sounds like a cool drink, Al!

Love the icicles!! Did I spell that right? Eleanor

Great fun for Feb / early March - when the sap is running in the Maples. If it's warm during the day but the forecast calls for freezing overnight temps, cut a twig or two and let the sap drip. In the morning you will have a maple popsicle!

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Oh Victor! What a memory you have brought back for me! My brothers and sisters and I used to do that a lot when we we little kids! Creating, and then eating, the maple icicles was about the only outdoor activity I did! I hated the cold then, and I hate it now.

Thanks Victor, never heard of that!

Maine, United States(Zone 5b)

Gorgeous pics. I really love the icicles one! The cats are very cute, too.

I know ice storms are bad news, but they certainly do make for nice pics sometimes. Here are some ice glazed Willows I took pics of a few years ago here in Maine

I don't have a lot of snow pics, because typically if it's snowy outside, I'm inside ;)

Very nice pics Noreaster. I don't mind going outside, but I'd rather not have any damage with that here. Did you have some?

Maine, United States(Zone 5b)

Actually, no...not that time...it was just a light morning iceing, I guess. Maine got hit several years ago with a really destructive ice storm, but we even missed the brunt of that one, being on the southern coast.

Great pics everyone. Some beautiful trees too. Love the birdies, kitties and doggie pics. The snow looks so pretty at first, so fresh and sparkling. If you never had to go out in it and see that yucky dingy look at the side of the roads it would almost be a good thing to get a foot of the stuff. That is as long as I didn't have to shovel it. :)

Great shots, Maria.

you guys are making me cold! I agree that it's pretty, especially if you don't have to go anywhere.

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

not going nowhere today, suppose to get 8 inches, no new pictures yet

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Our weatherman just updated our snow amounts - 10 inches to a foot - and it should fall at a rate of 1 to 3 inches an hour!

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Sounds beautiful - I'm happy for you guys ;)

Here's a shot taken directly out of my kitchen door about 10 minutes ago. I will take a comparison photo tomorrow when the storm is over. I thought it might be fun to see the difference.

I've done that so many times!! But hey! It counts as two posts!

Still snowing, only gone out to shovel so far, wanted to go to the museum tonight, but might not in this weather.

Snow museum?

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

That I get to see from my window!
The museum has an exhibit called The Human Body:The Universe Within. Free admission tonight for nurses, police, and firefighters. Real human bodies. Heard it is very good. Might have to go another time.
