Morning, hated to come into work today but here I am..we're both moving slowly but no need to run is there..enjoying the quiet here, feel cold so have my micro furnace on...drizzling outside..calling for a storm to arrive later tonight/tomorrow morning, will transfer the phones to my home tonight in hopes we might get a 'snow day'...

Have classes tonight, everyone is doing the lg. primitive Santa's, snowmen and candle holders so will not cancel out..might sit a bit more than usual...

what you can also do is put weed barrier material in the box, put your 2 pieces of wet oasis (which of course you've soaked) make the arrangement and from time to time keep it watered and the arrangement should last for a few months...

This is how I used the dap and leftover sparkles on some pine cones..then added them to the fresh spruce garland.

Looks great...Must get out and get some pine cones to add to my arrangements..thanks goodness I hit the fields on Sunday for all my greenery..I put arrangements in every room...sometimes 2 or 3.. Christmas fanatic I would say...lol...yes it's been a quiet day here, everyone gone to meetings...I spent a good amount of time looking up ebgames and Best Buy stores to try and find 2 Guitar Hero 3 - 360..only found 1 at this time in Vaughan Milles, so we'll drop in at lunch and get it..think you can purchase a 2nd guitar as well..then it will be a few more gifts for them and they are done...sure hope I can find another package before Christmas...

Sorry that I have been off thread for a few days. Been busy getting ready for a craft bazaar this weekend.

Betty so glad to hear that you and Suzane are o.k. Had the same thing happen to my folks and I about a year ago, scary stuff, my dad was driving and the big rig just came right over, the lug nuts on the wheel tore the metal all the way down my folks volvo wagon. Fortunately there was room to the right for dad to move over on the shoulder.

Quite the night..left work, drove parts of it in rain/sleet/freezing rain, snow/winds..not great after just having the accident..could feel myself tense up so I'm extremely sore tonight..only thing that is making me feel better is a 9pm call from Paul telling me to call the girls to let them know we work from home tomorrow..wow..what a relief..they are calling for bad weather again tomorrow..working 10 miles from home would be ok but travelling the 100 miles to work, nerves would be shattered..

Just finished class..everyone went home early with finished projects..excited of course so feel as though I've accomplished something..thinking of all I can do tomorrow..have a class on Sat. and I've not even done homework..Diane is picking up my piece but I think I'll pass on Sat. class and just relax...enough's enough right?? too hard on this old body..you'd almost think I was 90 the way I talk rather than 59..still a young chick..lol

know you are all busy with your families, preparing foods so I'll sign off for tonight..

betty, what is stippling? i like the texture of the one you were holding up maby we call it something else? one side of the geese is done now i'll turn them over and do the other side thank you for the dmail, and posting the photo again it helps to see the finished product.
hope you have a great class this evening, boy im telling you my sinus has been killing me so i have been taking tylenol sinus for about a week today my ear starts to hurt again so on my way home i stop by the doctor..
well here we go again sinus infection again and some fluid in the ear, gave me a prescription for some amoxicillian.
he then told me that when i saw him in september my blood pressure was perfect well now its 148/92 he is hoping it was from the tylenol sinus pill told me to keep a eye on it and watch the salt good greif whats next lol
so now that the lemmon merainge pie is made sugar cookie made, deviled eggs are done carpets are steam cleanned im going to bed lol 4 am will come soon enough

OMG, Liz...I'm coming to your house. If you are going elsewhere, leave the door open, and the lemon merangue pie out.....I'll take care of it for you. My favorite, and no one else around here even likes it.

Morning, how wonderful this morning waking up, hearing the newscast for our area and not rushing to the window to see if we've a blizzard or not, just turn around and get a few more hours sleep..but,I am really sore and aching, going to take a few painkillers, roam around the house doing little chores..and yes, by the way when I did look outside, it's storming..thank the Lord for my 'work at home' day...hoping to accomplish a few more pieces for Sunday Craft show my girlfriends and I are doing here..means cleaning as well..lol..

Liz I take a brush (prefer round one) basecoat the body with color of choice and then while wet I take the brush and lightly put in other colors...

Liz, yes a sponge would probably work..trick is not to press to hard where you blend color into color and they become one..lightly to get somewhat a mottled look..remember, want to impress son Greg with a real lemon pie...when you get a chance please post recipe..tks

ok betty, i'll do it now still have time to early to start the bird now you can make a real pie crust i use to but now adays i cheat i use betty crockers one in the box and i use the whole thing so follow that or just make your own,

1cup sugar
11/4cups water
1 tablespoon lightly salted butter
1/2 cup plus2tabelspoons lemmon juice
(about three large lemmons)
2 tablespoons freshly grated lemmon peel
(about 1 large lemmon)
scant 1/4 cup cornstarch
4tablespons cold water
3eggs,at room temperature,seperated
2tablespoons milk
meringue(recipe follows)
1.pre- heat oven to 425 F.
2.prepare dough for crust and bake for 20 minutes or until the crust is golden,set aside and dont turn off the oven.
3.place the sugar and water in the top of a double boiler set over boiling water and stir until the sugar disolves.add butter,and stir until it has melted.
4. add the lemmon juice and peel and blend well. dissolve the cornstarch in the cold water and add this to the lemmon juice mixture. stir to blend. continue cooking,until mixture is thick enough to coat a spoon.(if you are not sure about the thickness, taste the mixture. it should taste like lemmon, not like starch.)
5. in a small bowl, beat the egg yolks wirh the milk.(reserve the egg whites for the meringue.)add a small amount of the hot mixture to the egg yolks and blend. add the yolks to to the sauce pan and continue to cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture is once again thick enough to coat a spoon, 8-10 minutes. remove it from the heat and allow it to cool slightly. pour filling the filling into the crust. spread the meringue over the cooled filling so that none shows though, being careful to seal the edges.
6. bake for 20 minutes, or until the meringue is lightly browned. allow pie to stand at room temperature until the filling is set, then refrigerate.
MERINGUE
3 egg whites, at room temperature
6 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemmon juice
1.in a medium-sized bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff but not dry. continue beatingand add the sugar, i tablespoon at a time. beatuntil the mixture is a thick, glossy, and stands in stiff peaks.
2. add the lemmon juice and beat well.

betty, i have found through trial and error to get all the ingrediants in bowls and cups and what ever is around the kitchen pre ready its just so much eaiser to grab it when your ready than to have to stop and mix good luck well lets see its 6.50 here so it should be 9.50 there bet if you hurry you can get one done today lol

I'm heading up to give Mr. Murphy a bath. he must have had a "pee" dream while laying on the floor last night cause when I went to get him up to go to bed, he was wet and there was a small puddle under him. I put him out and he still peed for 2 mins so he must have been really full!! LOL He will smell like lavender when I'm done with him!!!

So glad to be back on. First DH came home 2 days early. Then half the time I couldn't get on DG. Then I had to work.

the turkey is in the oven. Did some of my prep yesterday after my nap. So today should be a breeze. Son has to work today . Might be here tonight but tomorrow for sure. He is not happy.

Betty so glad you have a day at home. It must of been hard driving yesterday. I remember how tense I use to get when I first started driving. I was a late driver. Hope the craft sale goes good for you.

Mind has gone blank but will pop in later and try to keep up with everyone.

I have been making fleece blankets and throw pillows, small decorative holiday pillows, door stops (rooster, loon, goose,) cat toys "Molly Mouse," homeade dog biscuits, teacup pincushions and fleece pillowcases. The bazaar is on Saturday. I will take pics and post them when we get home from my folks house on Saturday evening. Well better get the car packed to head over to Mom and Dad's. It is 24 (F) degrees, brrrrr! It is clear and the sun is shining, I love how it makes the trees almost glow! Love and hugs, Rachel

Jeannnine I just got your ornament yesterday. It was at the post office for a couple of days and I never checked the mail because I was painting but "Thank you" so very much, I love it and it so special that you went to all that trouble and expense. I love victorian type ornaments and angels. My family has a history of angel encounters that saved our lives and they have a special meaning to us.(Not just the crystal angel saving us from the sand storm.)

Shar sorry I missed your birthday, Happy Birthday Girl. I pray it was a good one. It must have been so hard to have your first TG and BD without Bob. I pray that you are having a great celebration full of love and family.

Betty I am so glad you didn't go into work in that weather. I am absolutely going to freak in bad weather now if I have to drive and though I am sure you are somewhat used to it, It is SO dangerous. White nuckling your whole way is so exhausting, no wonder your whole body hurts.

As it was a snow day for schools as well, Kyle came over to keep me company..never stops gabbing, always interesting ..infact gave me an excellent idea for a christmas present for very dear friends...he called me from home and wanted to know other than taking calls all day for work what was on my agenda..seems he wanted to do a crafts so he could give them as christmas gifts..so, gave him 4 ornaments, taught him how to pen and ink..worked on them quietly all day..another 1/2 day and he'll be finished...

Then about 3pm I got a call asking me what time I would be over to show them how to lay floating floor..had completely forgotten..so, arrived at their house at 5pm..she had cooked a wonderful dinner, ate and worked until 10:00..I took my saw over which did 99% of it, but they needed band saw to cute a few cuts so finally I convinced them to let me bring the 3 boards home to cut, after work tomorrow I'd drop in and we'd finish the job..probably about another hours work and it's done..looks nice..they were so appreciative..

SO...I'm tired, craft room is at it's worse..my hand is aching from working it too much, shoulders are killing me..complain/complain right..don't usually do so but getting hit by an 18 wheeler does that to a person..lol...

It's like a winter wonderland here..sure wish we didn't have to drive to the city for 4 hrs. of work..but know we must..I did not get my homework done for Sat. class..think I'll skip it..get the instructions and do it myself...that way, I'll get a little rest over the weekend...

As always, you are getting to know my habits...when I type and type..rambling on and on..means I'm exhausted, so off to bed I go...let's hope tomorrow brings good weather so we can enjoy experiencing the joys of travelling HWY 400...

well we survived they were on such good behaivor we didnt know what to do absolutly enjoyed ourselves, when a debate came up on various daily issues dh ran to the kitchen and started to wash dishes(brat) left me out there..lol
they asked is anyone else comming guess there was to much food but thats ok no cooking for the weekend!

we took pictures of the roof to show granny it is serious there are holes in the tar so now she told dh to get three estimates here's a pic of the side look at the hole in the tar paper :(

Morning everyone.

The countdown has begun......32 shopping days left! Yesterday was great day here. Had my SIL/BIL and neice over for turkey. My other SIL/BIL weren't able to make it. Had way too much food. Since there only 7 of us, it was a laid back, casual day. This was the year Thxgvg w/ my DH's family; next year mine. It makes it much easier vs. traveling all around. For Christmas we do the same each year: Xmas Eve at my parents; spend the night there and then head to one of DH's family's house. This year we'll head from Williamsburg, Va down to Raleigh, NC. Then we've rented a cabin up in the mountains for 3 days after that.

Today is 'black friday' which doesn't mean anything to me cause I refuse to get up at 3am to go and buy anything! Since I worked in retail for 12 yrs, you will not catch me dead in a mall today. I also know that no matter what the price is today, that same price or better will be offered again before Xmas. My neighbor said she rode by Comp USA last night and over 200 people were lined up for a 9pm-12am sale. Kohl's opened at 4am this morning! I will venture out and try to get my nails done and drop by the craft store to see if they have anything good but that's it!

DH starts putting the lights up outside today and we will probably go out today or tomorrow and get a Xmas tree so we can get it in water.

Well, I hope my USA friends had a wonderful holiday yesterday and Betty & Carol, keep warm up there and let's see some pics of the snow!!!

Good morning everyone. Hope everyone had a wonderful day yesterday. Mine was relatively quiet. I found a small turkey, cooked it and some taters and gravy, and stuffing. Add green beans and that was it. DH was feeling a little better last night. Whatever this bug is, it seems to be hard to get rid of!
Betty hope you got some rest last night.
Jeannine I don't blame you a bit! My daughter loves to get out there. I've gone with her the last 2 years, but I think it's a bit dumb! She lives almost 2 hrs away, so by the time I get over to her place on Black Friday, she has already been up and made a run to Walmarts! I'm kind of glad I worked today. Gives me an excuse to not have to do it! LOL!

Morning all..saw few posts so guess everyone was busy/busy...having fun of course!!!
Left work at 1 and stopped by to finish to flooring..took 1hr. wasn't bad..came home thinking I'd get so much done..mistake #1 - put my jammies on..mistake #2 set up painting right next to the couch versus my craft room, put on all the snowflake lights in the window and outside trees and deck, look so pretty that I thought I'd enjoy...so nothing done..woke up early but body said to stay in bed..but I've accomplished some things this morning..2 more Santa's with the wooden teddys', I'm getting a perm at 11am so that will screw up part of my day for sure...

But what is a must is putting up plastic to shelter the back deck so I'll not have to shovel it all winter...that will be as soon as I come home this aft. - then this evening must finish doing greenery arrangements in the geese planters...then of course clean up because Ann and Diane will be here so we can arrange a craft show..I have little hope that we'll get many, putting out posters just days before but I'll have a lovely visit witht he girls AND got all those wood pieces dragging around put into form...

Liz, I purchased plaster of paris yesterday..going to do some faces for VS....lol

glad to hear from you betty, if i lived closer i'd give yoy the perm wouldnt take more than 1 hour going to start decorating today how fun plastering ,
i bet the floor you did looks just lovely.

Morning all,

I did a bit more decorating yesterday and then went to look after my two youngest grandaughters for the evening.
I took some photos fo the girls..they want to give their Mum a framed photo of themselves for Christmas. I'm going to make them black and white or sepia.

My sister and her hubby spend the winter at their condo in Myrtle Beach. They went out and did some Black Friday shopping for electronics. They bought a couple of those digital picture frames as Christmas gifts...and a couple of GPS systems..they come back home for a couple of weeks at Christmas.

Jeannine asked to see a pic of the snow. This is a bit of my deck.

off the shelly beach today for a relaxing day and a picnic with the fam... have a good one and i am soooo glad to be back.

it's break time..figure by 1am should be finished the majority of my projects...was outside..have the unit with Christmas music going..lights which go in sequence to music..took a photo but because it goes with music you'll not get all the lights..would have to disconnect the unit..but thought I'd share some winter wonderland...
