Thanks, Hart. It was probably on your java or puppy thread, so I'll find it. I think that there were a number of links in that thread (?) that I wanted to check out.
Time for a pup-date
Hart, the hide-a-bee type toys ... are the bees/squirrels attached or are they separate pieces? I'm wondering how small they are and if they would be a choking hazard for a very large dog. I haven't been able to get my paws on one in person at the local stores.
Oh, he is gorgeous! I love his facial markings. Please tell us more about him.
I'm exhausted following our long trip and am climbing into bed, but wanted to give a quick look at him. He's only six weeks old. We'll bring him Home in about three weeks. I'll post more photos, etc. at that time. I'm very happy!

you look so happy in the picture!! Congrats! He's darling!
Wrightie--he's adorable!! Black and white, huh? I hadn't seen one like that before. Kinda big for 6 weeks, if you ask me!! He's going to be a whopper!! Congratulations!! Your long wait is over.....
Sallyg--wanted to tell you that your Addy is also a great-looking dog and while I have been sort of reading this thread off and on, didn't get around to chiming in. But she looks like a great dog and I am sure she will turn out to be one of the best.
.
Awwwwwwwww!!! He's so adorable! Wrightie, I don't know when I've seen a cuter puppy. Look at those paws. Give him a big smooch for me.
Thanks, KidZ! We're on Cloud 9 and can hardly wait to get him home. He's just precious.
Foxy, that coloring is called mantle in the Dane world and you see it in harlequin breedings. Mantle was accepted into the AKC standards only within the past 10 yrs or so. Speaking of which, we're going to try our hand at conformation & obedience showing.
He is indeed handsome, debonair, and with a certain esprit de corp. But I see him thinking -- "She'll love me if I act a little docile and sweet right now -- don't want to show her my naughty side just yet. And why are they flashing bright lights at me?"
OMG Wrightie - I'm in puppy heaven...LOOK at him!!!! Does that color favor blue a bit? hard to tell w/the pic...esp when you can't pull your eyes away from that face...mercy!!!
Everyone else already said every thing that I was going to say. Yes, you do look very happy in that picture and yes he does have some gigantic paws. He is a doll!!!
Ruby
What a handsome Dane! Uh-hum, taking notice of the mass quantities of paper towels behind you. Hmmm, thinking about investing in Bounty stocks :-)
LOL, very observant. You're a good Noticer, MG.
12 puppies = 12 poopies after each meal ... and then some!!!
He is adorable!!!!! Good job picking him - or did he pick you? LOL
Of course he is docile - he is showing his good side - Thor did exactly the same on the way home - she writes as he is flying across the office aiming for the birdcage!
Geez, he's as big as Hutch. Hutch is 25 lbs, and you call him a "baby??" Oh, my!!
I really dig his coloring--black and white is so pretty and the "Mantle" is awesome. When you were talking about a Great Dane, I was just thinking "Marmaduke" chestnut brown.
heh heh ... he will likely be 25lbs in three weeks, when we bring him home. Fawn is the coloring that most people associate with Danes, but they do come in six different recognized flavors, actually.
Chantell - he is definitely black, so the blue is probably an optical illusion.
Bec - I think that the choice was a mutual one. DH & I really loved the way he would come over to be held. He goes flopsy-wopsy in our arms and laps, yet he's still got lots of spunk & personality. I think that he is going to be a talker ... some Danes are Chatty Cathy's and it sort of seems like he might be one of them.
Ruby - those paws are going to get Much Much bigger still! LOL
Hart - I will give him lots of smoochies for you, I promise!
Oh, what a love! He's fabulous. I love your description of his personality, too... LOL @ the notion of a Chatty Cathy GD... :-)
Awwww man, every time I start reading about puppies, I get a hankering to have one of my very own. Then, the next second I remember that I already have a house full of dogs. This is all very exciting wrightie.
Just think, Ruby, it will be even more exciting the day that he decides to eat our COUCH! Now would be a good time to sit back and remember all of the annoying things about puppies. :)
Oh yeah, I remember them well. Lucky went through three pair of Rockports of my husbands. He is over ten years old and still has a tendency to chew if not watched carefully. Almost every pillow and pillow case that I own has chew marks from him. There is no material thing that comes any where near being as valuable as the good moments with the dogs though. My three bring me much happiness and joy.
Ruby
I know what you mean - Lucky you!
Wrightie: I know you've told us before but when do you get to bring your GD home with you? And have you named him?
Should be about 3 more weeks, and yes, we're calling him Zebedee (sounds like zeb burr dee), Zeb.
Zebedee is the father of two of the apostles; means "God's Gift" (pups were born on DH's birthday); and is also the name of a character from BBC's "The Magic Roundabout" ... a wonderful children's show.
I'm almost as excited as if Zeb were coming home to me! Except I mentioned this in passing to our 2 cats and 2 dogs, and they developed an instant dislike to Zeb. Don't know why.
You are cute happy. Wrightie, my first dog after leaving home was also named Zebulon and was called Zeb. How about that. Never did I think that I would ever meet or know someone with a dog named Zeb. Very interesting.
Our Zeb was a cocker spaniel. He was such a pretty dog, but we could never break him of chasing and niping at care tires. He left us too early due to nippmg at one tire too many. Poor little guy.
I personaally love the name.
Ruby
Wrightie,
Did you say you will be at Timmonium for the BIG Home and garden show att he Great Danes Booth?
I will be there on Friday, March 7th. Love to wander around and chat with people, ask questions...learn....Will look you up if you are there.
I thought I had a link saved for home-made dog treats. Could'nt find it.....Was going to send it to you, but--you said you already got a cookbook.
Baby Zeb is adorable!
Gita
Thanks, Gita. Actually, I was at Timonium several weeks ago for the Pet Expo. Is the H&G expo this coming weekend?
No! It starts on the 7th and goes through the 16th--as far as I know.
I like to get there on a weekday and also in the beginning, when everything, and everybody is "fresh". So, I am going on the 7th.
Admission is $10--if anyone is interested....maybe a buck off for Seniors?
You can buy all kinds of plants there, as many Nurseries have booths. Also, home made jellies, soaps, crafts, dried flowers, etc. I just love to wander at my own pace, but having company would be nice.....Anyone planning to go?
Gita
Here's a form for a $1 off coupon for anyone, plus links to a lot of info on the show.

This says the show starts Feb. 29, Gita, so maybe it's not the same show. 2/29-3/2 and 3/7-9
Ruby, I can only hope that our Zeb will do wRight by that name!
Hart!
OMG!!! I am living in a different time frame! --this happens way too often......
I don't know WHY I thought it only started on March 7th???????
YES! This usually lasts for a whole week (plus the 2 weekends)--SO--your dates are correct!
SO! If I go there march 7th--everything will be a week old and so-so......
Well--maybe I will go twice! This weekend AND the next! Hmmmmmmmmmm?????
Thanks for the heads up!
Gita
He looks as if he is thinking, "Awww ma, is this really necessary in front of new folks?" ha-ha You know how embarrassed kids often are by their parents.
LOLOLOL!
*grin* I just had to do it, that's all I could think of when I saw the pic of you and Zeb :)
ruby and rcn- too cute!
Gita, don't forget to go to that link and print you a $1 off coupon for entrance to the show.
