Wonderful shots, Victor! The one near your pond is truly a study in contrasting textures!! So interesting!
Fall Color 3
Love all of the pics Victor. Are you the last one in the Northeast to still have fall color?? We just have neighbor's leaves blowing into our yard!! Eleanor
Thanks Eleanor. No - LI is surely behind me, as are parts of NJ.
Victor, your house and garden must be spectacular. Too bad we are seeing it in pieces.
That's how it often is!! Thanks.
That's Miscanthus grass fallen over.
Great stuff, Victor. You are truly a trooper to get out in the chill for these photos.
Thanks Candyce. Not too cold yet.
Thanks Maria. That sunset is gorgeous!!
Beautiful sunset! Thank you for sharing that, they are one of my favorite things to look at.
What gorgeous photos, Maria! Are you feeling better?
Thanks for the compliments, as I entered my living room the whole room seemed pink from the sunset through the slider looked out grabed my camera and caught it just in time.
I do feel much better thank you for asking Donnie, but had quite a time of it.
So glad to hear it, Maria! This is a tough time of year for getting sick. Stay healthy an keep showing us those lovely photos!
great shot Maria!
Maria - beautiful pics. That is one gorgeous sunset and they are not easy to capture with a camera!!!!! Sorry to hear that you have not been feeling well and I'm glad that you are better. Take care of yourself. Eleanor
Maria, Great news and great photos!
Nice Victor!
Nice, Victor! What an unusual fall color for a JM! Like it!
Thanks.
Love the color in that last shot! We have gone past colors, we are now in one color scheme....Brown.
Victor - those are all very lovely! You must be up pretty high to get that nice view out of your kids' window??? You have so many pretty fall colors in your leaves still, one would think you buy your plants with an eye to their fall color potential. Good photography as well!! Thanks for taking so many pretty fall pics with us.
Thank you Celeste and Louise. Louise, as I do look for multi-season interest, which of course includes Fall color, when selecting shrubs and trees. One-shot deals, like Forsythia and others, just don't make the cut with me. I love the flowers on them, but the other 355 days are worth something to me. If I had acres and acres, I could afford to use plants that are spectacular for only a few days.
I think you have a good strategy, Victor, and I can relate to your need to be choosy. Here in Fla. we have to be careful to limit the plantings because of the months we aren't here to maintain everything. That being said, I prefer choosing native plants & trees that flower or fruit while we are here, and that bring the birds and butterflies to our yard. If I have a choice between a nice plant that provides greenery or one that flowers, I'll select the bloomer every time.
This morning on our walk we bumped into a huge Great Blue Heron. I wish I had had my camera (again)!
I always assumed Al was pretty high, but now Victor too. (And he really must be to have let that slip past him)
No I did see that one. If the 'up' was not included, I would have responded to it. I also wanted to address the actual gardening question / comment!
That's allowed.
But not overly encouraged!
Beautiful view and picsVictor! Eleanor
