Sharper??
It's Harper's Birthday!!
Harper is sharper, you're right, Victor.
Harper:
Great job on the room. And thanks for posting the photo. I have one window facing easterly and on that faces southerly, so I think that for my room, I will get the paint a few shades lighter. AND, I will hang some plants - yours look awesome.
Of course, this bedroom project might take a month or so to complete!!!!
Candyce - I always think of gardening and painting a room in similar terms. The preparation and decisions are the most work and the actual jobs of either painting or planting is easy compared to the start of the project. It's a good winter job.
I agree with you, pirl. I have been planning this project for two years, at least!! I keep changing my mind about the 'tone and atmosphere' of the room. You'd think I'd know myself well enough to decide on what I like. After all, it's my room, no one else's!!
But I have settled on a creamy yellow with sage-green accents. Kinda 'forest-y'.
oh, pirl! That's such a beautiful and restful place you have created!! It's just perfect!!!
It must be the gardening influence.
You have inspired me! Thank you so much for sharing that photo of such a gorgeous room.
Thanks. It was the yellow color I was trying to show. The carpet looks as though it has too much blue in the photo since it's really more green.
Still gorgeous!!
Great light!
Yes, and it feels like too much on a sunny, cold winter morning - 17' of windows.
I can never have too much sun in the Winter.
Great room Pirl... really wonderful window... love your colors...you are very talented... gardening and decoration... I think it goes together...
well, my sisters actually would make good wifes...
No husbands and or man for me... well, unless is the right one... do I dare to say what he needs to be in order for me to take one???
Thanks, Kassia.
Yes, Kassia, do tell us so we can help you perfect the list!
Pirl - beautiful room. It is just missing a couple of cats to make it purrfect!
Actually I really don;t think he exists...
He needs to be really nice... must be a honored man... someone with character... doesn't need me to make him happy... cause I don't need a man to make me happy... I am already happy...
Accept me for who I really AM!!!! high maintanance, bubblyyyyy and ready to laugh!
Never complain about how much money I spend gardening... NEVER tells me what I can't plant...
always be nice to my mom (she is so sweet anyway!)
needs to love dogs, cats and turtles...
Never ask me "what's for dinner?" I really don't know...
Never tell me not to go to school...
Never create a scene when I go out with my friends or when I travel to CA or any place else to meet my DG friends...
Never be jeaulous of DG! or gardening!
He must be RED SOX FAN... can't forget that!
He must take me to the movies... tell me silly jokes...
Never come with me when I go clothes shopping...
He will do the bills... I will do the spending! so he needs to have his own money... I will spend mine on roses...
Never tells me not to eat ICE CREAM...
See I told you... he does not exist... ~~~
I bet there are a lot out there that would come close!
oh brother... I am in trouble then!
Worst requirement is the Red Sox one. Cruel and unusual punishment.
Oh, Kassia.......you just described my DH!!! LOL And I met him when I was 40, so you'll meet his double when you are least expecting it!! He'll be very lucky!! We all know what a catch you are!!
Harper - I love your chair and would love to see it in your sunny room when it moves back in!
Arlene - Your bedroom is really lovely! And so is your dog....love his little teeth!! LOL
I agree that a love of gardening and decorating just go hand in hand. I'm in my sage green/watermelon/buttercream period of life, and it sounds like I'm not alone here! I'm not surprised that you like those creamy/sage shades too, Candyce!! Go for it in decorating your bedroom......what a great way to enjoy the winter!
Kassia - maybe you could station yourself outside of the Red Sox home field, selling plants while eating ice cream and have your pets nearby. That would be a start!
Maybe not selling plants but rearranging the Fenway landscape!
lol!!!!! Victor!!!!!! I would not take any other baseball team.... I fell in love with Fenway Park first time I went there... so it's hopeless.!!!!!
But Victor, I said he was a dream....
Pirl, it seems too much work... I am not really looking... I really don't have the time... and if I go to Fenway I want to eat a hot dog, a box of cracker jacks and drink real coke... yeah its just a dream....
Donnie, thanks... nobody has ever called me a good catch... I was under the impression that all the good ones were already taken.... oh well...
Harper, love that chair... it's a very happy looking one... and the most important looks very comfy!!!!
Kassia:
From what I hear, Mr. Right always appears when we are least prepared, or not expecting him to appear. So, I've quit looking. If it's to be, we'll find each other.
Candyce, I am at that point in my life that I am so enjoyiiiiiinnng what I have! And yesterday I had an opportunity to reflect on this again... my uncle died a horrible death and when I got the news all I could think was "Thank God he is free of pain now!" so I looked at my mom and my sister and told them: life is too short NOT to enjoy it right now!
I renewed my commitment to myself to enjoyTHE moment! and not give up trying to be a better person... I have a lot of good people in my life!!! so I am really thankful!!!!
well, work is calling me!!!!! ok I have to go and enjoy fixing a database problem!
Nice Thanksgiving thoughts a few weeks early, Kass!
Victor, if only I could remember that every day... my life would be better!
Kassia:
You and I are a lot alike in that 'living life' respect. Each day I try to write down a beautiful memory. There's always something to write, too, oddly enough.
I learned early on to appreciate every day, lost my mom when I was just 22, and my dad when I was 32. Lost a niece and nephew. That's one reason I only work part time, I'd rather be poor and have time to enjoy, than have money and no time to spend it. Sitting outside in the garden, with all the colors and beauty, listening to and watching the birds, feeling the sun on my face - one of the greatest joys in the world!
Sorry to hear about your parents and family Deb. Nice sentiments.
It's always so sad to lose parents too soon but there's really no good time to lose them. Just appreciate every moment we get to spend with those we love.
Deb - so sorry for your losses.
Thank you all, I didn't mean for anyone to feel bad, just saying I appreciate family and the little things. I do have some of the same flowers that my mom had in her garden, so she is always with me. And sorry Harper for this ending up on your birthday thread.
It's always a good reminder, Deb, to love those near and dear.
As for Harper, she only has 48 weeks and 6 days to wait for her birthday.
Debi, Good for you! I think the only positive we get from death is to realise how precious life is, ours and those we care about.
Nice bedrooms Pirl & Harper
To back track a bit, I brought up the risk of posting kids pictures, listing adresses along time ago on a different forum and I was amazed how defensive or naive people were. I was more attuned to it because having foster children, I knew there were people out there who would've liked to get my kids. But people were saying "No one on a gardening forum would be like that".
Don't forget, you don't even have to be one of the 330,000 DG members to look on DG see the kids, the town they live in, etc., etc.
Dave - I think your reminder is a very good one. We all get lulled into thinking all eyes here are those of our regular friends we feel close to and trust, but that is sadly not the case. Anyone can peak in and my professional experience tells me that there are real risks at issue here. I appreciate your reminder!
Kassia and Candyce - I'm convinced that your genuine qualities and your appreciation for your blessings will bring both of you some surprises! And yes, Kassia, I'll repeat it: YOU ARE BOTH A GREAT CATCH FOR SOME SMART GUYS!!!! LOL
Debilu - I love your approach to life and admire you for having your head on straight! It is sad that you have lost so many dear to you, but you have obviously grown from your losses. I'm trying to appreciate being poor in retirement, but when I'm standing in those plant stores, it's HARD!! LOL I'm working on it! Kassia's BES seeds are going in tomorrow. I feel wealthy to have such kind gardening friends who share their seeds and their friendship and their humor and caring! We are all quite fortunate, huh?
Yes, we are.
Wait! Do Kassia & Candyce come as a set???
Dave - very good point and I really should take that advice. Eleanor
