It's Harper's Birthday!!

Thanks guys for all of your advice!! I really appreciate it!! Eleanor

one good thing about this camera is that you can take a picture less than an inch from you object... and its clear... and it also has a macro function... so in a way I guess it's good... like I said I am no expert... and I got carried away when I choose the 18X over the 12X.... oh well,,, live and learn!

I have a Kodak DX6490 - It has the little flower for Macro. It has Zoom but to what. I have no idea! I know I hit zoom and it will hit what I am trying to take a picture of. The lense that is.

This is actually the statement I read that made me decide for the 18X optical zoom....

"Macro Lenses and Modes
Another thing you may want to look for is macro / close-up capabilities. In the point-and-shoot range, this is usually determined by having a macro mode that allows you to bring the camera closer to your subject.

Without such a macro feature, you must usually stay about 1.5 to 2 feet (or more) from your subject. The ability of some cameras to get within one centimeter can make for some extremely fun imaging... you can make huge close up images of everything from postage stamps, beetles and other bugs, kitchen utensils, flowers (and weeds for that matter), coins, and much more. "

so I can really take fun pics...

anyway, I completely forgot to comment on the 2nd picture.... even if you have a good camera I can still take bad pics!!!! the 2nd one is pretty blurry... and not as sharp as the first one... so the human behind the camera counts... if you a dummy like me ... well ....

Gotta be able to get good shots of kitchen utensils!

Victor, somehow I missed the kitchen utensil part of Kassia's post and thought you just went over the edge.

Been over the edge for years.

DH takes photos of his clean dishes rack. Whenever he thinks one is a masterpiece, he'll take a photo of it. This one's "Candy Colored Clown".

I'm glad I have flowers, trees, a river, and kids to take pics of!! Don't think I could stand taking pics of kitchen utensils - probably because I don't like being in the kitchen!! LOL Now, I wouldn't mind taking a pic of my computer!! Eleanor

That darn garlic press just never photographs well!

Neither does my strawberry huller or my mushroom cleaning brush!

Eleanor - could we please have a part 2 to Harper's birthday thread?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

How many days left until her next birthday? Like the shopping days until Christmas.

For the first time in years, I made home-made brownies yesterday. Now, THAT would have been a picture worth taking!! Especially if I had taken it before all the brownies are gone!!

One thing I can say about a large family ~ all the 'not on my diet' stuff disappears quickly!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yummy - I love brownies!

Mmmmm! Make more! I'm on my way. Be there in 3 hours.
