Hmmm...
Dave, this is for you...
Elphie, now that you and I are friends, I've decided to make you, my new project.
---You really don't have to do that.
I know, that's what makes me so nice....
Paul and I have seen a show or 20.
LOL
Scattelogical ramblings and desultory humor XVII
My PC at home died. I'm still here - even if don't get to write - except when I am at work, of course.
Bummer Cat. I've had problems with my notebook for the past few months. Battery is shot.
Oh Cat! That's horrid!! I hope you'll be able to get a replacement soon.
Might just be the power supply. I'm thinking about tinkering with it myself - how hard can changing the power supply be? I neeeeeeeeed my computer at home. I was so bored last night without it that I cleaned house and that is very wrong.
Oh yes!
Cleaning house is NOT on my spring, summer, fall, early winter agenda. Perhaps late winter, but only for a couple of days!!
I have been watching this very weird show, "How Clean is Your House, on BBC America. MG! after seeing some of these homes, I feel like a clean freak! Honestly, if you need a motivator to clean your house, this is the show that will reveal just how bad years of neglect can be lol
Cat, now I really feel your pain. Shortly after my last post, my notebook crapped out again. Waiting for my computer expert friend to call me. Probably time for a new one. On my desktop in my basement now. Hate using it. Got used to the notebook keyboard and I have all old stuff on this one.
New habits die hard, don't they, Victor?
Sure do. Can't seem to be able to send out email from here either - very aggravating!
I stopped and bought a new power supply in the pouring rain on the way into class. I printed instructions out on how to install a new power supply. I'm letting my class go home early tonight because of the rain - so if I can get up the nerve - I'm going to put in the new power supply tonight. If not - I will have to give it to one of the guys at work to take home and do - then I won't have a computer all weekend!
Where's the statue of the greatest Norwegian-American Thoralf Pantz, and the Swedish-American Erik Coatz ?, and the Danish-American Einal Hatz ?
Gotta guess North or West of here. Lot of Germans here - including myself.
I was really surprized to find out that more Americans can claim descent from German stock than from English. who knew????
39 oz. olive oil
24 oz. coconut oil
18 oz. palm oil
26-30 oz. cold water (lower for essential oils, higher for troublesome fragrance oils)
12 oz. lye crystals
can't be the greatest if your name doesn't end in z
I'm WAY more Scottish/English/Wesh than GERMAN! German? Near Boston, everybody is Irish, including DH, XDH, DDIL, etc.
XXDH?LOL
Very XXXXXXDH. As many Xs as possible. In fact leave out the D altogether, please.
I'm at the library using the computer. I got the power supply changed OK - but now the monitor is black and the thing turns on by itself! I put it in the shop this morning and told them not to lose my data - pictures, spreadsheets, etc. Wish me luck.
You have my sympathy, Cat. You're a prof, right? Doesn't the college/university provide you with a computer?
Schools providing computers - now that brings back nightmares!! When the elementary school where I taught started doing everything by computer and e-mail, I still didn't have a computer. I was the only one in the whole building that didn't have a computer and it was not a poor school. They could well afford one more computer on top of the hundreds they already had!! Since there were no hard copies of memos or bulletins anymore I became quite uninformed. I refused to go home and log onto the school's web site to find out what was going on at school. Since I was retiring soon I didn't care and was over-joyed that I didn't have to know what the administration wanted from me. I enjoyed saying to an administrator that I was clueless about meetings, etc. because I didn't get the e-mail on the computer I didn't have!! Just want to mention that I used my home computer for important stuff like lesson plans and projects that involved the students. I always produced 110% for them!! Eleanor
Good one Grammy!!
Thanks Thom!
I picked up a few 50% off plants today.
Callicarpa Early Amethyst (When I saw those berries I had to get it)
Gentian Royal Blue
Hellebore Hupehensis
Persicaria amplexicalis
My daughter opened Thurs. and closed last night in her first acting role since 3rd grade. She did well.
AYankeeCat; you may consider an external backup drive and/ or an external hard drive which uses a USB or Firewire connection. You can use the backup software which comes with the drive or just copy important files/directories to an outside drive. That way if your computer dies you can always resurrect your important stuff!
Newegg and ZipZoomFly has them, (just to name a few).
Congrats on a successful show for your daughter, Dave.
Thanks Candyce!
I think I was more nervous than her.
That's the way it is with us parent-types!!
Now that your heart is out of your throat, you can regale us with your wit once again.
Congrats on the show Dave. 'Early Amethyst' is gorgeous. I have a few.
more of a late amethyst myself...
Posting from the other side???
well, it is almost halloween.
i am definitely not a "morning glory," more of a moonflower - or a four o'clock - my favourite time is "always afternoon."
Dave, congratulations on your daughter's performance. Was she acting, dancing, singing, playing an instrunment???
They did a series of student-directed one act plays. She was a main charecter in 1 of them.
anyone else grow gentian or persicaria?
Victor , I put in several shrubs this year. Its a direction.
Oh, which way do they point Dave??
Great Dave!
