I saw that Games beat us by Five!!! Made me think that if hadn't gone to bed so soon .... oh well. Next week!! Game on!!! (No pun intended!!!)
Today's Weather in Your Garden 3
I suggest a new 'offset policy' for those who also post on Games. For every post on Games, you should do an extra, unplanned post on NE to nullify it. Sort of like planting a tree for every one cut down.
very 'green' of you Victor
It ain't easy being green.
Hey! It's still raining here. We have a nice, honest to goodness, light steady rain that is going to do so much good!!!
Green is nice. Green is more than a color.
(Oops! Wrong thread!!)
Check with Kermit.
Kermit's picking up the check? How wonderful!!!
We had five minutes of the lightest rain ever. I worked right through it and never got wet.
That's their personal business!
We're supposed to get real rain on Wed. I just don't believe it anymore.
I just checked and we have a whopping 50% chance of rain. That equates to a 50% chance of no rain.
Lately it equals about 90% chance of no rain.
Into every life a little rain must fall ....
Yes - and I'm waiting patiently.
It's 60 degrees and damp here now. Woke up to rain and had more during lunch. Just overcast and damp now, but tomorrow is supposed to be our only dry day this week. Time to clean out the garden and rototill it for spring. We harvested our Concord grapes this morning for jelly-making in the next day or so. We lost a lot of grapes on the lower vines to some critters by waiting another week to pick them. I hope we end up with enough to make the process worthwhile!! But it's a good rainy day task!
Jezz! I'm so jealous of you guys with rain, we got nothing!, Nada!, Zilch! Just more of this beautiful, sunny, DRY weather! ...Gonna go look at my fish tank... :-(
You mean you missed the five minute shower this morning?
Darn, missed it again ... going to take a picture of it next time, it'll last longer! SCWA must be Blue Chip by now...
It was such a light rain you couldn't see it falling. Bummer!
we just got back a bit ago from a long w/e away and had an inch of rain in the gauge - not sure when it rained - although we drove thru some heavy downpours this evening
Welcome bacj, Debilu, and happy belated birthday ... in case you didn't see the thread honoring you.
Ugh!
Sorry for the typo!!
This morning:
53 degrees
dark and cloudy
80% humidity
winds are at 8 mph and out of the north
It's not going to get much warmer all day.
Anita, and anyone else interested - here's a link. I used to work with this guy at the local radio station - he was the Sales Manager but a true weather geek and has his own site http://www.midatlanticwx.com/hw3/hw3.php?config=&forecast=zandh&place=ronkonkoma&state=ny&zipcode=11779&country=us&maxdays=7&daysonly=2. Just type in your location at the top for "Instant WX" :)
I'm envying all of you, I'm fed up with this heat - 93 here yesterday and still have serious drought conditions. A month ago we were 9" below normal rainfall for the year and I think we're up to 12" now with no rain in sight for at least the next 10 days! Gardens have suffered and all plans for fall plantings have been put on hold - it's just too darned hot to dig in the gardens, plus the clay soil is like concrete :(
Debbie
Still to dark to know what's going on outside in the garden in reference to the weather. It is supposed to be showery most of the week and cooler according to the weather report. Eleanor
46 here this morning, humidity @ 76%.....high of 61 predicted for today.
Watching the weather last night and heard the words "Nor'Easter" and I stopped dead in my tracks! It seems that there is a chance of a storm turning into a Nor 'Easter at the end of the week!
I guess I will be scrambling all week to finish up any chores that need to be done before it snows.
Was it last year Buffalo got 30 inches of snow on Columbus Day? Or am I remembering wrong?
Yes it was last year and several of our DG'ers were w/out power for several days. It was an aweful mess, took down some lovely tree's and made for a very long winter for those who lived in that area.
We heard about that possible Nor'Easter as well. The last time that happened around here, half a town got washed away. Not our town. So now, almost every time it begins to rain hard in October, I look out for the flooding!!
The temperature had gone DOWN 4 degrees since I last posted. Brrrrr ... damp and chilly.
72 and muggy here. Showers later and into tomorrow (allegedly) and then cooler (yeah!) weather.
Thanks for the link Debbie.
The skies are gray with no hint of sun. I just checked the forecast and sun should appear next Monday with all clouds and "chances" of showers but no word of a Nor'easter...yet.
Pixie is right - time to finish up planting for this week.
Today's a big planting day for me. I welcome the cool overcast. My son's bus driver just mentioned a Noreaster but I haven't heard anything.
I'm headed out now since the forecast is dicey. Of course we should get a storm or two now that the dahlias are in such beautiful bloom!
Nice and cool (68) and completely overcast. Was perfect for planting. Got most done. Will try for more after lunch.
What weather????? I'm stuck inside grading papers before classes start up again tomorrow . . . . sigh.
It's 61 degrees and brilliantly sunny outside, after a rainy Sunday and a very blowy Sunday night that got rid of the clouds for today. Supposed to rain on and off over the next few days on Cape Cod--I'm with pirl; this is very good news. So why aren't I outside making hay (or at least, raking leaves?) Good question.
And yes, the dahlias are putting on a very brave show.
It's an almost perfect fall day right now. The sun is shining brightly between white, thin, wispy clouds. A slight breeze is blowing. The humidity is a little high, but not too uncomfortable, and when you are in the sun for more than 15 minutes, it feels much warmer than the 62 degrees that my weather monitor on the computer is showing!
ah, my garden misses me... I went home for lunch and ended up taking pictures... had to bring food to eat here!!!
Yayeeee!!! - It's going to rain!... It's going to rain! ... I knew all those dance classes at the reservation would pay off!!! :-)
