Not fair!
My granddaughter makes mine!
Today's Weather in Your Garden 3
Agree. We always put two names when celebrating two birthdays.
Is it your dad and your wife who share a birthday?
Not the same date but 6 days apart. And my older son and brother in law are five days apart.
Tarsha's B-day is July 1st, Tiff is July 2nd and Justin is July 31st.
They have their own cakes.
Candyce - I wish I were going to the RU also, but there will be others and I will look forward to one I can attend. I will also enjoy the posts and photos from those of you who do go, so that those of us who can't make it this time can vicariously enjoy it through you.
Right now it is 79 degrees and seems to be getting a bit less humid. No a/c on, just a ceiling fan is fine. We lost power this afternoon, so I realized just how terribly dependent I am on power........No DG, no coffee break, no cordless phone.....whine, whine.......too hot and humid outside.......so I did some sewing I needed to do and quit whining to myself! LOL
For quite awhile it was way too humid but digging a hydrangea and replanting it didn't help keep me cool. Now it's much nicer - 69 degrees, 74% humidity, barely a breeze but comfortable. High for the day was 78.
86 was the high here. Now it's 77.
Gosh the weather here has been so beautiful that everything is growing again! I am a bit worried. I moved stuff around and cut some stuff down a while ago and now everything is growing again...my moonbeam coreopsis is starting to bloom again, so is my yellow daylily, my pink phlox still have some blooms and get this - I have 3 huge flowers on my Nelly Moser clematis!!! Will any of this new growth hurt my plants for next spring? Seems weird to see things growing now.
Dawn! It's so good to hear from you again. So it's not true that you were herding a team of sled dogs, I guess.
If it cools off gradually the plants will go back to sleep. I have coreopsis, phlox and one daylily (Sabine Baur - a newbie for me) blooming along with Immortality (reblooming iris), roses and clematis Henryii is making his annual late showing. Sometimes he blooms in December with no harm to him.
Wow, Arlene, a clematis that blooms in December is very cool!! I had a Henryii but it didn't make it through a tough winter a few years ago.
Happy long weekend and Columbus Day everyone!!
It was beautiful here today. I didn't do much outside but water everything. There is a threat of some sprinkles on Sunday but not a very big chance. I had to get a shot (orthovisc) in my arthritic knee and had to ice the knee and take at easy - in other words I couldn't play in my garden. I can go back to normal activities after 48 hours. Orthovisc is a lubricating substance and I get a series of three shots and this was my first - one a week for three weeks. I hope it helps cause the next step is a knee replacement. Eleanor
I think there is a bud on my Henri also. I just planted it this year and the earlier blossoms were small but this one looks to be larger. Me again
Talking about dogs and the dogsleds - I checked the shop and they should be reading to come out anytime for practice runs LOL LOL
Once the snow comes I will be busy building my igloo spa area LOL
Great, Dawn. Remember to send us postcards as the icebergs advance toward Long Island.
hahaha ok deal!
There are far too many people who believe that even zone 7 is an iceberg all winter long. Hopeless!
Happy Thanksgiving, Dawn and Michaela!
67 already and the sun isn't even out!
57 here, with a lot of fog this morning
65 and 53% humidity here.
A/C may be needed today. NYC expecting record high temp's - around 86 degrees or more.
At 6:15 this morning it was 61 degrees and foggy when I took Molly outside. I had some company come and it got pretty warm but was still comfortable. It is now 80 degrees at 4:20, but it doesn't feel humid, so it's comfy. I'm hoping the RU weather is nice for all of those who went.
the weather forecasts here have only been right about 2 days in the last 3 weeks. I wouldn't care, except we kept the pool open and it takes 2 days to heat it. so I turned it on Thurs so we could swim this weekend, which was supposed to be 80's and sunny all the way thru. I got up this a.m. to rain. and it is supposed to t-storm off and on all weekend. I know I shouldn't complain about rain when everybody is so dry, but the $300 gas bills when we can't even swim have got to stop. well, the pool closes next weekend, so you won't have to hear me whine about it any more ;0)
Well, I'd be disappointed too, Jan! Yowser, that's expensive! I'd be filling the bathtub and pretending with a little umbrella drink in hand!
Well, so much for Autumn - we're back into summer. Indian summer I guess. I wonder if we are going to repeat last year. It stayed so warm, that I had Iris blooms in November!
Indian Summer follows a frost so we'll have it eventually. Last year it was magnificent until January 13th when people were flocking to the beaches.
Yes, we have yet to have a frost here too. Closest was about 38. I think it would be Native American Summer these days. And the Yankees are getting whipped by the Cleveland Native Americans too.
That's what we like to hear, Victor!!
Don't get too cocky yet! Heard Bill Buckner's coming out of retirement. He's known as Big Droppy.
When you are a Red Sox fan, you never get cocky!!!! Too many Heartbreak Hotels!!
It's still raining here and getting cooler.....nice!! It's gone down 10 degrees in the last 10 minutes......not kidding!
Lucky you! 75 degrees here.
Getting cooler there, Schick???
Schick - how far away from Keene are you? And in what direction?
It's still August in NJ. 3xH and I'm getting really sick of it. I'm sure my next water bill will top 500. OOOf.
