It's 59 here, dark, dreary but not raining at the moment. It rained off and on all day yesterday. Calling for showers today and a high of 59, guess we are not getting any warmer than this!
Today's Weather in Your Garden 2
It is raining!
Very light rain here. The weather matches the mood for this day: gray.
Yes . . . somber weather for a somber day. It must be particularly difficult for those in the North East, many of whom will have known victims of 911.
Yes, it is.
Yes - the mood of the day matches my mood today. Still happy to get rain.
Only 58 here now. It does not feel that chilly however because the air is very heavy almost misty at times. A very light sprinkle only dampened to surface last night or very early this am. No measurable amount, still waiting for the real deal to show. Today is the best chance for SE Ma to get some rain, fingers, toes and anything else crossed for a good soaking.
Getting a soaking finally!
Yippee!!! Grade A regulation rain at last! Now if it just keeps up for a few hours it would be wonderful. You can almost here all the trees saying ahhhhh. :)
One of our trees lost a limb. There was some rain but not much and winds seem to vary in strength. The sun is in hiding, then shining brightly.
WOW we have had rain. A good hour of , not rough nor disruptive, just steady soaking. I walked out in it a bit and caught a few drops with my tongue. Taste was cool and memoryfull. The rain has stopped but the sky is "promising", and the wind is the opposite of usual Usually NE. Hope we all get more rain. And I mean that in the nicest way. :)
It's a beautiful, glorious rain!! Two fantastic days of it so far, and, even though we are now under a flood watch, I am thankful. We used to shrug off the flood watches, but that was before the floods of 2005 which pretty much wiped out a town near here.
I spent a perfectly beautiful morning sitting on a fellow DGer's screened-in porch talking away about everything. Isn't it funny how those you meet in person from this list are just like family? DonnyBrook and I had the best time! And, she makes fantastic blueberry muffins with the blueberries right on her farm.
Despite a few good downpours, the two day total is only slightly above one inch. Disappointing.
Been raining for 3 days here and everything is well soaked. Very thankful here in Maine!
It is only a light drizzle now. Went out to check rain gauge. We got just over 2" of rain in six hours, I feel like I hit the lottery. I did notice one thing when I was out there that even with all that rain there are not any puddles, the ground was so dry it has sucked up every drop. The trees look like they are smiling. I hope you get some more rain over night Victor, they say another shot of rain maybe by the weekend.
Over the past few days we finally measure about and inch of rain. That's better than what we had and haven't had to water for several days yeaaaaa!! Eleanor
I know the gardens have had enough rain when there are puddles in my cellar. Guess what? There are puddles in my cellar.
(No - I don't water the gardens enough to create puddles in the cellar.)
It's a chilly 54 degrees and partly cloudy skies here this morning.
There's is a cool, damp breeze blowing out there, too.
Time for the woodstove again.
65, sunny and VERY windy here this morning with highs in the mid 70's and that's what's in store for the next three days. Time to dig and divide!
60 with crystal clear skies. Beautiful!
No winds?
Breezy.
I just checked and Weatherbug has the winds as 6 to 16 MPH but those readings are taken 7 miles from us. Here they're more like hurricane winds. I'd guess 25 MPH and more.
Cool crisp air, bright blue skies and 66 degrees. Very windy here too. They are saying gusts to 35 or 40mph.
Stunning sunshine, lovely breeze, 64 degrees, incredible day. After yesterdays rains everything is growing and glowing. Think I'll give the weeds a one day reprieve and start again to refinish the lawn furniture - sand, prime & paint. I've been at this project for 3 yrs now. There are about 16 large pieces and unending attachments. Can only do it when the garden doesn't need me and the weather is right, at least that's my approach. :)
67 and much windier now. Gusts about 27 mph. Real nice.
Wonderful day here, so wonderful I ditched work 4 hours early to come home and play in the yard.
Good for you! Love those Mental Health days. (Or afternoons).
Beautiful weather for working in the garden.....a bit windy but still got alot done.
I had the day off so I dug up and divided/moved/replanted 10 DL's and mailed 3 boxes =approx. 12-15 daylilies, out. Planted 4 new DL's, 1 iris, and one new coneflower 'Harvest Moon'. Removed some of the corn stalks from the garden, need to keep a few for fall decorating. Removed the rest of the cauliflower & broccoli plants too. Cut back the DL leaves on some, and cleaned the iris bed out.
Now im tired.
I like being tired from garden work much more than I did when I was employed. Sounds like you had a very productive day, Pixie. I planted some Japanese iris - including two of the three some sweet person sent complete with metal stakes and labels! I had them potted up for a few weeks and couldn't believe the amount of growth on the roots!
This week is a whole different story - much cooler. Fall jacket sweather and closed toe shoes here brrrrrr!!! Cool, damp and rainy....ugh!!!
It's a rewarding tired, I feel like I got something done and enjoyed doing it. What more can you ask for?
A good night of sleep.
Yes, then another day like it tomorrow.
Hurray! Love your attitude! I feel the same way - another chance to enjoy the garden.
It's a crisp 47 degrees outside - I actually looked to see what the temp. was!! supposed to be a nice autumn day and maybe reach 70. Great day for working in the garden. Come on guys it's time to get up!!! I get bored talking to myself this time of the morning. Eleanor
OK, OK I'm up and the coffee is on! Only 54 here so I'll wait before heading outside.
Good morning ladies. It's nice to hear from someone this a.m. Just looked outside and it is a little foggy - see pic. Fog is over the river and drifted up toward the house. I have to go to the chiropractor for routine maintenance on my back and neck and by the time iget back I hope it's warmer and the fog has lifted. Stay warm. Eleanor
