Well .... I have fast-forwarded to October 6th, and it looks like it will be a sunny and very comfortable day. Now, we all need to keep our fingers crossed for that forecast!
Today's Weather in Your Garden 2
It poured here last night. Lightening lit up the entire town! We were coming back from A.N.P. and were about 15 miles from home. I could see the sky being lit up and knew it was over our house. As we got closer it started to rain, finally about 5 miles away from my driveway it opened up and just dumped it on us. The sky was just wild and I really didn't even need my headlights on when it flashed a bolt. Extremly fast and violent storm!!
60 degrees, muggy and a little hazy sunshine starting to show over the tall oaks. No breeze today like the last couple of days. Hoping for some rain too. Maybe late this afternoon and tonight through fri morning. Need a good all day steady rain to do much good, its so dry.
You've been lucky with rain recently Celeste. Wish I could say the same.
Still no rain here.
We just had another thunder shower, seems there are a band of them coming thru Maine from New Hampsire. Looks like it's mostly the coastal area....im about 35 miles from the ocean.
Out at 8:30 AM and in by 6 PM. Mostly overcast, good breeze all day and since I was under the big old pines I was protected for the few times the sun made a showing. Fantastic day in the garden. The rain started at around 4 and was over by 4:15 - more sprinkles than rain.
68 and foggy with highs in the 70's and a 40% chance of rain this afternoon. I'll be under the pines again today.
We got some rain late last night, or I should say, very early this morning. It's overcast now and 64 degrees. Humidity is at 94% - sticky again.
I had mentioned that we had a violent storm here Wed. night and I was driving through it. Well I guess I was pretty lucky and didn't even know it! This was in the paper this morning:
Dispatchers from the Kennebec County Sheriff's Office said they responded to only one accident Wednesday: A tree fell on a man's car while he was driving on Wing Road in South China; he did not suffer any injuries.
In China, trees fell, blocking streets and bringing down power and telephone lines, Town Manager Daniel L'Heureux said.
"There were maybe 30 or 35 trees down," L'Heureux said. "Luckily, there was no damage to the streets and no one was hurt."
After Wednesday night's storm pummeled some of Augusta's surrounding communities, work crews worked well into Thursday afternoon repairing poles and restoring power to the 5,800 customers who lost electricity in the squall. "
Me, who is afraid of Thunder & Lightening storms was driving through that!!! We have been having showers off and on since then.
Somebody up there loves you and many down here love you, too.
Awe, thank you Pirl!! I knew it was bad, I was sacred to death driving but I also knew we were w/in 5 minutes of the house so I kept going. Could barely see the road it was raining so hard and the wind was really whipping it around making it even harder to see. I'm so thankful I got the kids home safe and no one hurt during it.
That's scary. Overcast here and windy at 7:55, but so far NO rain again!
Weather report on radio says it's raining in southwest CT - it's just missing you, Victor.
Low 60s this am., partly cloudy, usual breeze. Rain overnight about one quarter inch, better than nothing but not enough to really help. Still muggy now but front on the way, hoping for more rain when it passes through.
How scary for you, Celeste!
I am thankful that you are OK.
Candyce - when you wrote and asked if we had any rain, the answer was no, but overnight, we did have just a bit....enough to sound nice to sleep by! This morning we had a teeny bit more. It's 70 degrees now and sunny. The yellow maple leaves are falling at a fast clip and my back yard is covered with leaves in some areas. My BIL and SIL are arriving this afternoon from Long Island for the weekend, so it looks like it will be a pretty one. I was in Conn. all day yesterday, so I missed a whole day's worth of threading. LOL Hope everyone has a wonderful fall weekend!!
Gorgeous day now. 72, sunny and breezy. Got a decent amount done, even with the five year old.
