Lucky Ducky is such a pretty yellow dahlia and I haven't taken a good photo of it yet.
What's Blooming Today? #11
Very pretty, Kim.
Pirl,
I split the Aster into 2 sections....would you like 1 section? I would be happy to share it with you :)
Thanks, Kim, but I have an over abundance of asters.
Nice pics Kim. Like the curly lily.
I love the curly lily!
Meant to ask you is that a Stokes Aster? Very pretty color.
It looks like it is to me.
Sorry Donnybrook! I didn't mean to attribute your tree rats to Ngam. LOL. It seems we all have the little devils stealing from us! Einstein..lol! I have names for mine too, but I cannot post them here. ;-)
Yes, Kim's flower is Stokesia Laevis. Honeysong purple is my favorite, so bright!
Pretty pics Kassia. I think I want DD. Is yours grafted? Where did you get it, locally or mail order? Black Cherry is another one I'm thinking of getting. I will have a few months to decide before the winter ordering madness sets in. :)
Absolutely gorgeous Kass!!
Yes, as Aspen noted above, I do believe it is a Stoke's Aster in my picture above. A LONG time ago I think I had a Stokesia but it didn't winter over well here. I'm hoping that my gardening skills have somewhat improved over the years and that this one returns next year but for $5.00 I couldn't leave it at the grocery store. It was one of the only plants not almost dead. In fact, it was loaded with buds and there were 2 separate plants in the pot when I went to plant it.
I have no idea where the bulb for the lily came from or even what it's name is but I go out and admire it every single day. I have tried getting night shots of it but the coloring is SO loud that my night pictures come out blinding and don't capture the true coloring of it. Very difficult to photograph.
Been SO cool here in the morning and at night. I have found that I am starting to do "Fall Cleanup" around the gardens already.
Threw some hollyhock seeds down about 3 days ago and they are already up :)
very pretty kassia & kim.... hopefully i can get some shots after everything drys out a bit.... soggy city
Kim - mulch it well to give it a better shot at making it over winter.
Kassia - DD is Divine!
Between Kassia & Gram.....I ended up buying the Double Delight Rose. It captures my attention with it's beauty every time I see it.......so I bought it!
Kim, your lily looks like Star Gazer or Kiss Proof.....I almost want to say Kiss Proof because S.G. opened for me in Late July first of Aug. and K.P. just opened last week. But my K.P. has more of a white edge.
Very nice ladies! Is DD a Tea? Celeste, did you mean something else instead of Vinca??
Thanks everyone.... DD was slow to bloom for me but it was worth the wait!!! and our great cool weather was a blessing for her...
I got mine from Merrygro last year... it's fairly common ... don't get from them... they have a fortuniana rootstock which is good for the south of the US... I am getting another one next year from Pickering Nurseries... I just love their roses... so worth getting it!!!!

Celeste. I looooove that dahlia.... what 's the name????
Anything called Double D immediately gets my attention........and obsession.
What is Al's Dahlia tuber storing method?
I think i'll let Al explain it as I blotched it to begin with! LOL
Kassia....no names on any of my dahlia's, they were written on the tuber but not anymore. How dumb could I have been???
Victor, Dave & Al....PLEASE don't answer that!!
lol!!!! no problem celeste... I believe the Tuber Keeper can id that for us!!!! that's what he was called last year right???
Tuberman to the rescue! Maybe everyone can shine a light that looks like a Dahlia in the sky, and Al will come to the rescue.
Nice ones Kass
Tuberman is back from his mild mannered day in the green industry!
Celeste - I don't have a good guess. Orfeo or Purple Gem come to mind.
Aspen - I store mine in peat moss, lightly dampened, with none in the top or bottom 1/4 of the container - although I am going to try vermiculite this year to help with the dusty mess. It is important to check them a couple times during the winter to see if they are too dry or too wet. I do lose some.
Here's me at lunch time.
