How often do you have to moisten it during the storage, Al? Got your good side in that pic.
What's Blooming Today? #11
Purple Gem rings a bell.....will see if I can dig up my list.
You guys crack me up.....this is such a healthy and pretty thread. (no politics, thank heavens!!)Laughing feels so good and those gorgeous flower pics from Kim, Kassia, Celeste and Al just perked me up! All very lovely!
Al - no problem if you call me Donnie whenever you want. My name is Louise, but it's hard to keep all the dual names straight, so I can sympathize. You'd be amazed what all I answer to - especially with our grandsons! Thanks for the tip on your camera. I'm using my DH's camera now and would like to get one of my own. I'm not a very sophistocated photographer, so it has to be pretty pointy and clicky...and pretty "do it all for me". I have noticed that the pics of individual flowers that all of you post on this thread are so clear, and mine are not. I think I have to practice a lot more to begin with. My DH is the good photographer in the family, so I usually just let him take our photos. But not now on DG. I want to take some more up close and personal flower/bug photos to share with you all. I appreciate any info any of you can share. I've been reading the camera/photography thread too.
Just get one with a Macro setting Louise, or can I call you Donnie Brasco?? Keep taking photos and you will get much better, I promise. That's how I learned. Keep in mind that many photos you see are sharpened with software.
Ooooo, like that Karma Corona
Victor -Actually, I tried to fix the color on K. Corona, but failed. Speaking of your sharpened images - the mystery flower was a hollyhock. There is always bumbles in there doing their laps.
Thanks Harper. Once I get a true photo I'll post it again.
I like it the way it looks now. Can you fix the flower instead?!
Sure - what do you want?
Al - you have powdered sugar from the donuts on your nose!
Love that Karma!
I want the real flower to look like the photo!
Yeah, don't change a thing
I'm with Victor...........again.
Do Jack and Mrs. Victor approve?
Victor.......Donnie Brasco, huh.........yeah, I like it! It has a nice tough ring to it.....let's go with it from now on! You like it ok,, Al? I could use a tougher image all the way around.....especially here at the farm........and thanks for the tip on the macro....that helps too!
And I too like Karma Corona just the way it photographed.
Al - really nice horns!
DBrasco
boojum, those are so neat, are they hard to grow?
This clump of phlox I can't take credit for, it's Auntie's but she has no idea how it got there. It started growing under a tree 3 years ago in the field. This year it was huge, she gave 2 piece's of it away and has cut some to take inside and it's still this big. I getting a piece too as soon as I figure out where to put it. Anyways...it's very different, nothing i've seen before colorwise.
Al that pic of Beas Paradise is the bees knees as they used to say looong ago. Just a gorgeous photo. Wow!
Pixie - really love that hot pink phlox and the great blue morning glories!
Ngam - bees knees indeed! I love that expression......used frequently by my Mother!
Victor - pretty viburnum and autumn joy shot and I love your clematis....simakivi is now on my list for spring.
Victor really nice color echos you have there, particularly the clem and buddleia.
Thank you, thank you, thank you...
Victor - you should love Pamela Harper's book, "Color Echoes". Great work.
(Harper - I did notice!)
Danks.
Victor I like all the photos too, but I need to ask about 'Carol Mackie'. Is it a fussy plant? What type of soil does it require?
I have been eyeing it for over a year now and debating....not even sure what im debating about now that I see your picture!
I love tall phlox and tall asters. I'll hafta take some pics of my phlox but here's one. These bloomin my stair garden every year. I've never seen them sold anywhere.
Passionflowers are easy to grow but ya gotta bring em in for winter which can get tiring. But I love them when they bloom and drag every visitor to see them (a lifetime experience for most).
Al, only certain MG live through the winter here...most don't. If I pick the seeds off or take the vines down with a piece of plastic under it, I don't have a problem. Heavenly Blue does't usually come back on it's own...too bad as it's one of the prettiest ones if you ask me.
BTW, Bea Paradise is beautiful, the tipped ones(or are they considered 2 toned?) like that are my favorites.
