Great shot Pirl. Nice F!
What's Blooming Today? #11
ooooooooh, Pirl.........gorgeous! What is an Fstop??? Love your grape fence too!!
Just a question . . . what does one do with a lantana . . . can I keep it as a houseplant?
Louise:
"Monk" is adorable! Did you promise him something nice for posing for you so prettily? Great shot!!
Pirl:
That's a great butterfly shot. I haven't been able to catch any of those guys yet, unless they are still groggy from coming out of their crysalis.
Never tried but I don't see why not.
Okay - I will keep it outside until it gets too cool at night, then repot it and bring the lantana inside.
Yes, Seandor, in a cool bright room.
Next year, in mid-May, put it outside and you'll have a much bigger plant than if you started with a typical new lantana.

Went to my brothers yesterday, he needed a hand putting together a 8X10 metal shed. He had the 'Soma' I bought him out on the porch, it's 3 ft. tall....wish I had taken a picture of the entire plant. I was facinated by the different shadings on each cluster of flowers. The thing is gorgeous and I just kept shooting the flowers and forgot about the rest of thr plant.
Very nice Celeste. We're almost to 370 posts. Time for 12 yet??
Beautiful pixie, but sorry to display my ignorance what is meant by "SOMA"
I guess we could manage that, new thread made meet ya over here:

Maria
That is what the tags said on it when i bought it. I have had a hard time to find anything with that name, brother does have a book with it but otherwise it seems to be an unknown hybrid.
Celeste,
I think It's a Thai Hybrid Crown Of Thorns named Soma....she's VERY pretty!
With a name like that she better be.
Victor, you do make me chuckle a lot, thanks
You're welcome!
pretty columbine victor
candyce love the gloriosia & the mums
pirl.... nice shots! the butterfly is breath taking
Thanks. I wish I could keep up with the butterflies as they go from one flower to the next.
Thanks for all the nice comments about Shasta everyone! She is as goofy and sweet as she is pretty too.
Actually, Maria, she is a chocolate lab, but you aren't the first to mistake her for a
Weimareiner (prob. because of the eyes). Your pink Coreopsis is really beautiful!
That Gloriosa Lily has caught my eye in catalogs many times before, Candyce. It is so unique! Is the larger one, that looks kind of dark pink, behind it the same thing?
Pirl that's too funny about the flower blooming facing the fence! Good for you for cutting it off, that'll teach it! Pretty flower too, I think it's an echinacea but not sure which one?
Seandor, you most likely know this already, but just in case... If I were bringing any outside plants inside for the winter I would first give them a couple rounds of insecticidal soap to make sure all the bad guys are gone. I brought a geranium indoors last year, and didn't treat it first, and ended up bringing mealy bugs with it.
sorry pixie, meant to thank you for the info and the name of the coreopsis, and some of you like it, never had it before, I think this is why I bought it, now I will save the seeds
Maria - it's a dahlias - Alpen Splendor.
Thanks Pir, :-)l
Even sprinkled with fairy dew! How nice!
Aspen:
I'll answer here and then join you over on the new thread.

Yes, the brighter red bloom is the same plant. The flower just keeps getting more and more red as the days go by. It starts out looking very thin and pale.
