Fall Color!!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I like the dark color...are they invasive?

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Pixie - that is the perfect fall shot I am on the hunt for - fallen leaves on a freshly mowed lawn, preferably green.

Virginia Creeper is quite the spreader.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Sumac anyone?

No hunting needed Al....this is my back forty.

I don't see the tee or the green there - what have you been doing :)

this pic loosely fits into the fall catergory

Nice shot Al!!! Love how you captured the light.

Turkeys' dinner's(?)

I fooled my 10 year old daught with that pic - yes I'm so proud - it's a streetlight not the sun.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Then thats even better, cause you fooled me too!
There were more turkey's than that...most had already enterd the woodline when I came up over the knoll and spotted them.

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Pixie, my son also enjoed your turkeys. He said "you're going to have some Thanksgiving!"

Al, Great picture & it fooled me too.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Dave, glad little dave enjoyed them....I do as long as they stay out of the pumpkin patch. Had a few pumpkins w/peck marks in them this year!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Very tricky Al! Cool shot.

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

Celeste, have you eaten wild turykey? Any good or are they too gamey?

Anita:

I have eaten wild turkey before. It's not too gamey. But there's a lot less meat on them bones!!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Anita, I have had wild turkey a few times. I think it all depends on how you cook it and what they were fed....i've had it taste great and taste gamey.

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks, I've always wondered.

I always think of grasses in bloom for this time of the year...

Al:

That's awesome!! Can you relate the details on how you took that photo? I'd love to try something like that as well.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Thanks Candyce. That photo caught my eye as I walked under a tree blocking a streetlight. The light is one of the 'new' old styled gas ones and is fairly short(12' or so) and had a street tree low enough by it.

This is the B shot of it - the light is more visible in this one.

It's so peaceful. Did you use a timed shutter speed? A more open F-Stop? A tripod? Or, did you just stand really, really still?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I'm guessing a tripod.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Scout around - you might be able to find something similar in your town.
I didn't use a tripod, I am fairly steady. I almost frame all my shots how I want them and don't crop them, that was one that was hard to tell if it was good until I uploaded it. Shutter speed was 1/30 or set to ISO100.

I took this pic shortly before - my camera pixilates these a bit.

That's pretty hard to get w/o a tripod. Did you brace against something? So was it still on auto or manual exposure?

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

I can change the ISO speeds on my camera and that's about it. I did brace that one - although it looks similar to the ones I didn't. The colors just don't blend as well as film does.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

A dslr takes much better night shots - just one more reason (as if I needed one) I want one!!

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Preaching to the choir dude.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

On your wish list too?? I want the Nikon D200 but need the scratch first!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Al - I am very impressed with your beautiful photographs.....they are contest entry worthy!! I'm also not surprised to hear that you are a steady guy! LOL

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I am.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Thanks Donnie. Far away shots are a lot easier than flower closeups.

Victor - it's not in my immediate plans so I won't tease myself by looking.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

In that case it's a good thing you're steady.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

I can blame most of it on the subject moving though can't I?

Yes, Al.....you can! Your percentages are pretty good!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I have one of those close up too Al......what is it?

That mushroom is way too cute! I can just see the fairies dancing around it.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Good sign of fall too.....to many tomatoes!

I like this one too...look on the leave beside it. The mushroom is dripping black on the foliage below it.

Candyce....will be in New Hampshire in about 5 hours. Have to take my son's GF to Manchester airport. How's the weather?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I like the dripping mushroom Celeste.
