I agree with rcn48 and DiggerDee.
Will you let us know what you find out from Tower Hill, DP?
Fall Color!!
Pixie, love those group shots of New England. I have to get up there someday. My DD's hubby is a officer in the Air Force. His next base may be near Boston. It would be wonderful to come and photograph in the fall!

Teresa, the month of Oct. is the month to come to the New Elngland States.....words can not describe the beauty or the multitude of colors!!!!!
(My passion is showing, isn't it?)

You caught it pretty good pirl! Lovely photo!!
Acadia is one of my favorite places. I love the reflection, you caught that perfectly!
Those are beautiful shots pirl. Acadia Park has been on my must-see list for too long, now. I just gotta go!
Thanks. We planned to visit for two days but returned for four more. The beauty is mesmerizing. Our national parks are national treasures.
Wow, lovely shots, Pirl. My sister is always trying for reflection shots. She is the camera buff and does very well. I am more of a point and shoot person, but I enjoy it.
It has been so dry here, I am afraid we will not have brilliant fall color.
Incredible shots Pirl. When exactly were you there? When is the color max?
From the 6th of October to the 17th, 2006.
Many people prefer earlier colors but we like it better later in the season and feel we had really good timing last year.
Awesome photos, pirl. When my kiddos were younger and asked for an explanation why there were so many different colors in the fall, I simply said that it was 'God's quilt'. Thankfully, I never had to explain why the leaves all fell to the ground, turned brown, and got mushy!!
I just love the colors of autumn in New England. We usually get peak (peeking) colors around Columbus Day, too. Then, we natives stay off the roadways!!
Thanks. We natives try not to leave the house for any reason Thursday through Sunday all summer long, so I know how you feel.
A bit depressing?
Well at least the trees are still green, some parts of my yard look more like mid Oct. than mid Sept. You know it's getting close when they start to put the toys away. Pretty scenes still.
I refuse to get depressed about summer being over. Nope, not me.
Actually I love Fall. Winter bites though.
I'm with Harper and Victor.
A developmentaly delayed rainbow?
Yes....perfect for me!! LOL
The field looks Monet-ish.
rcn48....I'm certain you were correct on the Helenium being "Canary". Stopped by Van Wilgen's in Branford Tuesday, saw a dozen and bought one. Identical to what was at Tower Hill.
Lovely pics everyone, especially the ones of the coming fall season. I actually love all of the seasons. I don't care for the cold weather and tend to stay home a lot but without winter we wouldn't have spring. Spring is so exciting watching for things to come back alive - trees, flowers, greening up of lawns, return of birds, and warmer weather!! So I put up with winter and love the anticipation of spring!! Here I am talking about spring when fall hasn't officially arrived. Eleanor
Eleanor:
I've been thinking about Spring since summer began. So feel free to talk about it all you want!!
Early Fall and early Spring are my very favorite times of the year. Well, unless you count the first day of school!
I love all the seasons. Even winter gives me some catch up time and time for online ordering. Winter naps are the best!
I thought we had a concensus that winter was a month or two too long! I already submitted the paperwork to have it changed.
Well thank goodness we have you working on it. Thanks! Let us know, please, when it's official.
It always surprises me, Pirl to see that you are in a warmer zone than I am. We have such a temp range here. 100s in the summer and occasionally below zero in winter!
A short winter would be great. I am always planning on the next growing season.
Teresa
It's most likely due to the way Long Island sticks out into the water. We get winds from the Long Island Sound to the north and the bays to the south. We have had a few 100 degree days but probably only once every few years. It very seldom gets to below zero though often below 32 in winter. It's the ice and the cold winter winds that we don't like.
We broke a record of 104 this year. It was in the 100s over a week in August! Thankfully, cooler temps this week. I am home today and plan on digging orders.
Teresa
I once had a temperature of 104. But it was internal.
BTW, Welcome Teresa!
Teresa - we don't have those high temperatures, thankfully, but we do have more humidity than we'd like. Today will be in the mid 70's, sunny and filled with dahlias.
Today is beautiful here, isn't it? My dahlias are enjoying it, too. Pirl, the daylilies you gave me are all looking very good. I hope they get enough energy to bloom next year. The sedum is covered with bees, I can hardly see the flowers. Okay, that's an exaggeration, but the bees are loving it!
Pixie, I love your two photos. I wish I had a meadow. It's beautiful.
Harper
Pix love the colors in your field.
Victor that is really nice, the light coming through is magical.
