Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Part 13

Okay I can't keep up! y'all are killing me! I just wanted to add my best/worst!
I just finished some typing that will generate some extra money ... so that's a goood thing :)
worst thing ... I've had a disagreement with the DH and honestly ... sometimes I don't understand the male hormone!
Best thing ... My friends here on DG!

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

I PASSSSSSEEEEDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yep your god wishes, prayers and thoughts worked... why should i be surprised. nearly choked thinking about the testers pole dancing but it helped. lol
that hurdle is over now.

my manager pulled me into her office to tell me she will fight me all the way if i think i am going out in a car without a seat belt even if i do have an exemption. and she said she would fight head office if they say yes as no one in HER office will do it.
shei s furious obviously that i passed as she tried her hardest to make it difficult for me and was so happy when i didnt pass yesterday. i may still not be allowed to go out but we will see. i showed her that i am every bit as capable....
i burst into tears when they told me i had passed.... sobbed like a baby but not in front of her!

thankyou for caring and loving me......
its so refreshing and such a change from the life i knew some years back...

Morning Everyone!

Congrats Wonder! Way to go.

I decided to work from home this morning. 3 of my 4 mgrs won't be in so one of them said "don't come in - just work from home". So here I sit watching the Discovery Health channel (love a Baby Story!), while i have a yummy coffee cake baking (boxed mix - I'm not a Becky Home-ecky!). After that, maybe a nap - check email - another nap - water the garden - check email and then log off!

We're heading down to Buggs Island tomorrow to meet friends and play on the lake. Since thy have an RV, we're planning on staying overnight. Thank God for AC!

So I've got one more week in my dept. I am looking forward to a week or so off. I've posted for a couple of jobs - one w/ a mgr I've worked with before so hopefully something will come from one of those. In the meantime, I'm chillin'!

I will check back later today - after my naps! :)

Cheers!!

Good morning...guess who slept in till 8:00 - wow, can't believe it...was awake at 6:10 and thought, this is ridiculous, turn over and sleep and sleep I did...

Laura, knew you could do it..one less things that lady can use against you..if you are patient, go through the correct steps, not loose your cool...YOU will win! prayers do indeed work..and lordy you had many

all my work is done..called the man re top-soil last night and no return call...no offence you men who read it, but hate it when you have to depend on men to do something..lots/lots of times it just doesn't get done...so, that will not stop me..I'm off into town and I'll purchase 10-15 bags of top soil..worse comes to worse I'll make a 2nd trip..the bed gets done today...

Do you remember my telling you the had white oak door frames, I might have said windows, anyway I came up with a wonderful thought..I'm going to call this morning and have the glass company cut me a glass insert..cheap quality, then I'm going left over glass from various projects and glue them to the pane of glass, then I'll use grout to fill in spaces...the piece already has 3 hindges - I'll get chain, hang it on back deck sideways and have a nice colorful hanging..what do you all think...

News brief came on...manhunt is still on so are advising everyone to be extra cautious..he has family here so he may attempt to get here...

So I'm still in my p.j.'s...must get dressed..make a 'shopping' list and head into town while still on the cool side..they are calling once again for extreme heat/humidity...shut AC off last night, but it's back on this a.m.

So am off on another mission..boss just called me to ask how my vacation is going? Said it is wonderful that I'll have work to return to for a rest...he just laughs...

So be back shortly...

Gardengirl...wow...nice working from home isn't it..get to see the beauty others see each day...calms you down...weekend on the water..how nice...something will come about shortly re job search but until then enjoy your time with family!!!

Just thought I'd share a painting photo of Riley from last night...

Thanks so much for the birthday wishes y'all! Had my first beer the boyfriend made for me, the KaraMack Triple XXX Stout...lol

and tangie..and someone else I can't recall, the former deadheads, my 18th birthday was the day Jerry Garcia passed, I often wonder how life may have been different...lol

Got a new ipod...yay...7500 songs...no more near death CD changing crashes.

The highlight was that a BAT flew into the house last night right as I sat down for my beer. It looked like this---the cats are trying to get it.... the old man grabbing a broom and flailing....occasionally cursing and saying, "Alright, Kara, tell me, how do you get a bat out of the house!"....since I know all with my omniscient wisdom....I laughed so hard my ribs hurt today. Took us about an hour to get that thing out.

But the real party starts tonight, we have friends coming in from out of town and I'm really looking forward to it. Thanks y'all!

Glenview, IL

I am doing a WONDER Dance! Yayay way to go Laura.
...I am not even going to tell ya my thoughts on that...uh lady, So on the nicer friendly word of advise-stay yourself, strong major sweetheart and never stoop to her level. I'ld have cried tears of JOY too.

Keep on smiling!

Big heavy sigh here!! Siiigh-just made a huge post and Poof.

So again Good Morning!

Hope you all are having a great day.
Yesterday afternoon was just exhausting! 5 hours at the HS Booksale!
So didn't get to fabric store, but will be stopping on way home tonight.
Plan on working the blanket all weekend so hopefully will have pics on Monday.

Tropi-Have just a joyous celebration!

Shar- sure like your painting, looks like a brocolli to me, will there be other veggies?

Betty- sure look forward to seeing what you do with the window. Have fun shopping again today. Riley looks so comfy on the art table, guess he found a nice little nest there. Your friends chair is wonderful.

Gardengirl -I so want to work from home too.Your Homework sounds right up my alley..LOL, Oh and a great time on th lake. heheh - don't fall in.

Tangi-I can't agree more on the weed pulling while drenched, sure makes the job so much easier and faster...not to mention in the families eyes, amazing! LOL-They keep me hydrated by re-filling my water. Wow, I love your drive, maybe I missed something but are you going to be putting in Beds along there? should make a grad enterance!

So this weekend is going to be very busy, baby blanket, painting the b-house and hopefully adding stone work to mini house along with guess what? Yep more of the W word.

Well,I am off to lunch in a few. A friend coming to say farewell-She is moving to TX!

hope you all are haing a grand day!

First tried weeding with a pair of scissors yesterday, worked out much better than expected that was a good thing. Did not take very long and with the heat index that was a very good thing.

Wife has decided I need to be indoors - not a good thing, thankfully she has to be at work early in the morning hours & this this will provide some "claustrophobic" relief.

Did not learn anything other than - I really need to be "out in the world" more than I have been lately. And, can only appreciate the outdoor time alloted as applies.

Take care all.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Dyson, looking at my crystal ball..looks to me like the DW has your best interest at heart..yep..probably there is a medical reason that you should be indoors and taking it easy...have I read the ball correctly? lol

I should have DH to keep me under control as well...no sooner was I ready to leave for town did the topsoil arrived..said he had forgotten all about it until my call last night...mega sales on plants so I bought about 25..few shrubs etc. so now I've been out making a bed near the frame art...took out about 15 loads of sod, now I'm on my 11th wheelbarrel of top soil..probably another 10 will do it, then I can plant these beauties...
Know if anyone came around they'd put a stop to me working as I am in this heat..but, want to get everything planted, watered so I can enjoy their beauty...so, hopefully by supper my 'today' project will be completed..

did pick up 2 cans of black spray paint and have the bakers rack which was green now a nice black to match the back deck decor...

forgot to purchase grass seed while in town so just might take a run in...as long as I circle away from the 'nursery section' lol...

Hope you are all having a wonderful 'sunny' day! same old/same old...need rain...

Glenview, IL

Well my day is done...
You all have a wonderful weekend, sure will miss you.

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

hey judy, i catch you all as your going to bed!
judy. what does the wonder dance look like??? lol..
thanks for the support......

keep the photos of the projects going!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Will be checking in early tonight...won't complain about how I'm feeling because it's my fault..lol..but early to bed...

Best thing..got back garden filled with topsoil..had worked a 2' x 4' area enough to put plants I had been purchasing for this project until my topsoil would be delivered...now about 6' x 20' so I'm sure you all know the amount of work it takes to remove old sod and fill with topsoil..enough said...but worth it..a few more purchases and then the wait for it to mature...

Worse thing..not really a worse just a really silly thing...out of the blue I was working away and for a second a thought came..'all this work and you won't be around to enjoy it next year' NOW where in the world did that come from...silly/silly....

What did I learn...that one person can accomplish much when they put their mind to it...

so dear friends...please have an enjoyable evening..Trop..no hangovers tomorrow....all of you are very dear and near to my heart...always include your best interests in my prayers...be good/be kind and enjoy the day!!!

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

Betty!! think i know where that came from!! dont listen!!

so cute and homey B. Do you have to be in a special zoned area to have the B&B? Will your neighbors care? I bet you`l want to fence your yard if you have the B&B so people don`t wander out of bounds.

I went to Santa Barbara with an old patient of mine that always said we were going to get together and never did till this morning. It was a spontaneous trip headed to one place and we ended up winging it in Santa Barbara, hoping to run into Oprah. just kidding but it was real cool temp wise and we had a blast. Didn`t come home till late.

Best was that. No worst, except ate fried seafood, not on my good eating menu but it was worth it, can not go to maryland and not eat Lump Crab cakes and can`t go to the beach here and not eat fried seafood. I`ll be sniveling tomorrow.

can you show mw a closer pic of the frame? i cat really see it and i think i like the idea!!!

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Betty Betty Betty..you take my breath away! You are a whirlwind of activity.
Your home and gardens are lovely. So fresh and inviting.
Your fall pots make me think.."where has the summer gone? "

Digging up sod is such hard work..but I know you are a determined lady. I hope you aren't feeling too sore this morning.

Yesterday I picked up my two youngest grandaughters and we went to the pet store to buy another fancy goldfish to keep my Red Cap Oranda "Hunter" company. I received the fish and aquarium from my eldest son and his family for my birthday a couple of weeks ago.
This one is a Ryunkin and the girls named him "Tigger".

Morning all, up early - getting ready to head into town, my neighbor who has very country/victorian type articles is having a 'sale' at an antique dealers so must go and see what they have...

Get in town early and back before 10:00 so I have the day to myself...

Starzz - those girls are absolutely beautiful, lucky lucky you, I so do wish I had grandaughters..love the 4 boys but to have a grandaughter to share with...Tiger looks like he's posing..lol...blueberries - did you mortgage your home in order to buy a quart..was at the market and they wanted $18.00 wow you have to like blueberries to buy them...

Laura how are you this evening..yes, I will take closer photo when I get back from town for you..

Dawn, oh to be in California..ever mind 'Oprah' you were there and that's enough of a celebrity...sounds like the day was 'special' for you..did Greg go as well or did he fend for himself...

Well, off I go..

Ijamsville, MD(Zone 6b)

Best yesterday: the broccoli painting from Sharran - I LOVE IT! It will say broccoli underneath - hear me out. It is for the market stand and we are dealing with the general public here. I will laminate it (them) and use a wax pencil to write the current price at the bottom. Sharon agreed to help make my idea reality. That was before she saw the list of veggies - LOL.

Worst: wasting the evening, not being productive and beating myself up over it.

Learned: There is only one attendee at a pity party.

Today is a new day! Going on a chef/market/cooking outing on the Eastern Shore! Should be lots of fun - a tiny challenge wine is served but that is a non-option. I haven't been in that situation lately; I have my friend Hazel and a positive attitude - not a problem!

Starzz - those are happy girls with their ice cream, the perfect summer outing.

Betty - I forgot to tell you I was in Barrie last year - I was a year too early for your B&B!

Dyson - weeding with scissors? I must have missed something - hope it was a small area, LOL.

Pacifica, CA

morning all,
starzz how nice to have them they look happy to have those treats

betty, your place is so nice i could sit there and look at it all day, i hope you didnt wear your self out to much betty, your going to be around for a long long time silly thought brought tears to my eyes now are you going to get to rest a little this weekend?
bluekat, have a great day

best:none
learned:nothing
worst: yesterday was a huge blowout in the family
my 90 year old granny has a house on the coast my uncle (her son) rents a room for his barber shop downstairs and theres a mother in law house that this nice man rents so we all have keys to get into grannys my sister went to visit her a few weeks back and i guess she sailed in on my sis well she left slammed the frount door and was swearing what a mean b---- she is.
well yesterday my sis came to visit granny and as she came in the house she closed the door and it was hard and shook the barber shop my uncle came unglued came upstairs and put his finger in her face and said dont you ever slam that door again and you will never swear at my mother again, he was reflecting on the issue a few weeks back granny was cluless and said stop this now my sis left crying
i got the news from dh who got the news from my cousin so i called my mom to find out what this was all about omg she preceeded to say her brother is no good her mother is no good she hopes they both die and wont go to their funeral's that his family is all two faces and that my cousin jim who i've been close with my whole life is back stabbing me to get info on what my family does she hates all of them...
im am just beside myself i am in the middle of both and i just dont know what to say or do i refuse to take sides i know my mom was headed there to tell me not to talk to them but i stopped her and told her im not playing that card the sad part of all of this is if they stick to their statements there going to be full of remorse and guilt and my dear cousin jim was going to have a reunion on the 17th he thought since everyone is getting along lets have a bbq. so my wonderful friends i need advice on how i should handle this one.

off to the wine country to see the inlaws talk to you all later have a great weekend liz

Victoria Harbour, ON

Wow Liz..have to think about that one today before I reply...nothing worse than a family fued..had a few in mine as well, so, just apologized for ANYTHING I may have done (although can't quite think what) but it was easier than having it ongoing.life's too short..but not necessarily is that the route to go..will do some thinking on your behalf today! Very hard when it's dealing with older people, sometimes they can get cranky lol...

Bluekat..Shar is such a lovely lady...her paintings are wonderful .. will make your set-up more enticing than the others for sure..wonderful idea about the laminate..don't you find, all these lovely people on these threads are always willing to help each other..in earnest..not just 'words'...amazes me sometimes...very caring loving bunch wouldn't you say!

Just came back from town, didn't want to spend my morning just drifting from place to place..went to the 'antique' market that Michelle was going to be at, but no one was there..came home only to find out it starts at 11:00 so not for me...

She did bring over the 2 pieces that I bought from her..I picked up 5 cans of white spray..am hoping it will do..changing them to white for back bedroom...then I can put the wicker rocker on back deck...so many plans for the next 2 days...wonder how many I'll accomplish..when I'm on a mission - watch out...lol...

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

Laura, here's a close-up of the frame..keep in mind that something else has to be done to it..much too stark white but I'm waiting until next season once it's aged and also once the garden bed is at it's peak to enhance it...I'm going to leave it hung all winter as I'll hang a winter pine arrangement and put lights in the hanging basket..then it will be multi-usefull...

While shopping I was able to purchase these christmas balls..thought they were small enough to bring to work this week and start on them..will be needing addresses .. lol...

ETA: *Liz, crossposted as I took so long to complete this post, due to length, certainly, but mostly to leaving it to drift around the house and yard, enjoying a lazy weekend morning.....will think on your dilemma...B...too bad about the sale, but lovely wrought iron set...love the pattern...it will look right at home at your place* End of edit

Good morning! How are all of my favorite DG friends today? I didn’t post last night because I didn’t want to fuss at Betty and knew if I started, I wouldn’t stop. SO very glad you don’t seem to have done yourself permanent damage, my dear. I do so worry over you when I know you have set yourself a goal that I (presumptuous of me, but what can I say?) think is too much for ANY one person to accomplish in a day. The sale sounds wonderful….hope you find exactly what you are looking for, even though, if you’re like me, you won’t know what that is until you see it. Loved the pics you posted of the yard and front porch entryway to your lovely, lovely home. I am deliberately skipping over the “Fall” part of these posts as I refuse to think that summer will be coming to a close soon. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO…….I do not want to contemplate another winter yet….I am not ready, I will not acknowledge that this summer is not endless. Leave it to you to have a crafty cat. Is Riley the teacher or the pupil?

Trop…lift a glass for me….and I am SO looking forward to those blackmail worthy pics. Bats are good and interesting creatures, as long as they stay out of the house. Nice of him (her?) to arrive before the rest of the out of town guests….can you imagine that scene with a houseful of happy, well lubricated, partygoers?

WOOHOO, wonder! Way to go, babe! Knew you could do it.

Kim, isn’t that just like our Shar? Always doing for others, be it organizing a one-woman show for a young and deserving artist, or creating veggie signs for an equally deserving DG friend. Glad you are not still beating yourself up over your lost evening. We all have them…some of us more often than others. For instance, I have my share and Betty’s too, since she is not using them herself.

Carol, you are indeed making memories for your girls. When we first moved to Pennsylvania, we lived near a “pick your own” blueberry farm and many of DH’s family would gather at our house and then caravan over to pick our fill each summer. Then we would come home and spend the rest of the day in the kitchen making freezer jelly and many pies and cobblers. Many of those we gathered with are no longer here on earth, but they are in our hearts and our memories. Good times. Love the fishies…when I was younger and had more time and energy, I had an entire wall in the living room filled with Betta tanks on open shelves lit from beneath each shelf. As a group, they were more colorful than a kaleidoscope and the ever-changing shadows they cast were mesmerizing and often more interesting than whatever show was on the television screen, which sat between the wall of bettas and the fireplace. I don’t remember much of what was on TV in those years, but clearly hold the vibrant colors of the fishies accompanied by the cozy sound of the crackling fire in my mind’s eye, yet today.

Dawn, sounds like you had wonderful day. Well worth a little sniveling payback time. You must have sent that cool weather my way as it was 63 degrees here when I got up this morning. AC off for the first time this week and should not have to put it back on til tomorrow afternoon, when we are supposed to be back in the nineties.

Ah, Shar, would that I could send you some rain. I would do so in a heartbeat. My fall peas have already poked their little heads up out of the soil. Soon they will be climbing their fence. My biggest chore with them now will be trying to beat back the cuke vines and keep them from swallowing the peas and their fence in one gulp. Your broccoli looks good enough to eat.

Jeannine, your at home work days sound like mine! Aren’t they wonderful? I brought work home Thursday to be done on Friday, but never even took the zip drive out of my briefcase….oh well, it’ll get done before Monday, or not…. Enjoy your overnight play date…..Is it a boating kind of lake, swimming kind, or both?

Liz, so the ants have returned? Shoot. Wish I had a magic fix for you, but I don’t. The picture is a small portion of my driveway…just outside the fenced in part of the front yard. There was a bed there at one time. Mostly spring bulbs and sunflowers. Always intended to make long beds all along the drive (over half a mile long) but because we currently lease the fields to a farmer, who uses some large equipment to plant and harvest, it’s really not practical, so it is now just spring bulbs, mostly daffs, snowdrops and large swathes of grape hyacinths. Plus, hubby thinks he has enough stuff to mow around and rather enjoys the straight shot down the sides of the drive, not having to dodge plantings. Further down around the bend there are wildflowers, mostly Queen Anne’s lace, New England Asters, Milkweed, Daylilies (common orange Ditch Lilies) and a few small mimosa trees we’ve allowed to grow beyond seedling size. I do know the mimosas are invasive but they smell so sweet and this time of year, the ground beneath them is a fragrant pink carpet made up of hundreds of powder puff like blooms that have drifted down to where they will spend the remainder of their summer. It’s groundhog and bunny heaven out there and helps keep most of the critters out of my tended gardens.

The third hibiscus opened last night. I ended up with two of the dark rose color I posted earlier and the third “Southern Belle” turned out to be a palette of beautiful soft pinks and whites…..

Everyone, enjoy your Saturday….will check back in later…Laura, hope you are having a perfect day today and are enjoying your victories of the past week, and most of all, are able to leave the fretting over what challenges the next workweek will bring until Monday.

Your Hibiscus is like one I have..although I think mine is called Disco belle..it will pop open any day now..and I also have two of the dark burgundy ones that are called Luna.
Your blueberry memories are such a treasure.

Betty..the girls picked a couple of small baskets..just for them to snack on..they are quite pricey if you are going to make pies and jam. It is more for an outing with Nana. I picked six doallrs worth another day and put some in baggies in the freezer to put in yogurt. I think the price there is $2.20 a pound. Thanks for showing the close-up of your picture frame..I use old window frames in my garden..and now my mind is wandering about some old wooden picture frames I have..you give me ideas..
I love your new wicker pieces..happy painting.

Lizrainey..what an upset..sorry I dont have nay answers for you..just my hope that things will calm down.
This is the basket Hayley picked..

Starzz..that's a great price..hot as the dickens here today..I'll take 2 of those girls...ship c.o.d.

quiet sort of day..a kind of day that you just meander and can accomplish much without effort...my index finger needs a break..sprayed the wicker white..should be able to find a home for it shortly..almost dry...

Dawn, you were saying about fencing..I do have fencing - chain link..however, not sure what you call this growth that hides the fencing, but it's about 6 ' to 10' tall and shortly will bloom in yellow flowers...so, yard is very secluded on all sides...which makes me feel as though I'm in the country...

Going to have lunch and then see what kind of damage I can do with the glass...no foiling, no soldering..going to set glass on glass and grout..not pattern...just randomly placed...2hr. project at the most...hmmm

Well lunch is calling...maybe I'll sit in the backyard and pretend I'm a tourist..lol

Hi, I am Jazz, you can see my picture below. My person is Sharon, aka Shar, and she was out watering flowers this morning, came in, (I was watching out the window for her), sat down at this wonderful little screen that has pictures and words and moving arrows that I like to look at too......so I hopped up in her lap just as I always do. Tapped her on her nose, on her cheek, looked at her with my very sweetest I love you face, and she said, Off, Jazz....I'm too hot to play!!! Now isn't that the pits??? But soon as she got up to leave, i read all your posts and thought I would answer for her.
Tangie, I can't decide if I want to come live with you or with Betty. You are both such sweet ladies, i am sure you would let me play with you all day. On the other hand, you have dogs, Tangie...and I am not sure about BIG dogs, and Betty you have a water garden, and though I like to drink it, not sure I want to swim in it. I tend to be a little clumsy....my mother was reading your posts after she made me get down from her lap, and I was bored so I decided to hop upon the kitchen table to see what was there. Accidentally landed on a little thing of bugle beads....she uses them for pendants, you see......and the whole thing flipped over, landed everywhere. She came running, and I ran in the other direction. Boy was she yelling.
she has calmed down now, I think, but the air turned a bit blue when she yelled.
so OK, now I am back to deciding if I am going to run away from home or not, trouble is, I don't want to go outside, too hot, too dry, too many dogs and tooo many other cats. Inside I just have Daisy, my big friend....who is in the picture with me. Daisy never goes outside, so I think i won't either. But your yards are lovely, and your flowers are much like those I see out my window here. so maybe I will just stay where I am for awhile.
My mother told you earlier that I hitched a ride underneath an SUV and survived a 20 mile ride on the interstate just to get to her, so she probably would be unhappy if I left. I only weighed 1 pound when i got her, but i am quickly catching up with Daisy. If I could only stay out of trouble.
Now here is a picture of Daisy and me. Daisy is 3 years old, and I am only 4 months........btw, Daisy is the tuxedo cat, and I am the ginger one with the fluffy tail. My mom says I have a squirrel tail......not funny! I don't like squirrels.
so....as my mom says, Betty don't overdo, please....
Love the hibiscus photo, love the blueberries, do not love Tangie's dog, but do like your long winding driveway.........and I love all your wonderful words. Have a wonderful day...all of you.
my mom will be back later after we have resolved all our differences....
Love, Jazz

sorry I don't write much, have had a bit of a rough week, just trying to stay busy.....it is over 100 again today, and everything is browning, I think the heat has zapped my energy.......it has been going on for a week, with no rain in sight.
anyway, will try to do better. I love all the things you bought, can't wait to see the stained glass, how fun. Will you use the headboard in your garden?

Later.....I need to run out in this heat and pick up cat food....they are eating me out of house and home.

Looks Great Betty..you will have to show us when it is in place.
I got a couple of hostas planted that have been sitting on the deck for a week or so.
Sat in the lounge chair and read some of a new book I got from the library.
Going to the store now.

Waving at Jazz..now you stay out of mischief. LOL
Cheers,
