Whats blooming today #10

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Thank you for the compliments aspen, I do try to post pleasant photos. My camera is an older Sony Cybershot DSC-S75. I retake a lot of photos if they don't look good the first time. The neg. art feature was more interesting to walk around looking at things in, I can recreate that in PhotoShop easliy if I want too also. I can save the convolulus for you and sea holly if you are still looking. I have no problem saving seeds for people if I know they want them. Your gaillardia and lavender should be a nice cultural pairing. The agastache looks good. Is that a larger spreading type?

Kassia....I was going to put those tall white cosmos with Purple Prince Zinnias too. Had abysmal germination on them so the Zinnias are out alone. Both were discount seeds I bought on a whim.

Nice to see what I had in mind would have looked good though!

Thistle...this crap grows everywhere! Very hard on the bare feet when it pops up in the lawn.

Can someone tell me what they think this is?? it came out of the blue seed packet I bought and it looks like a delphinium to me.

Such great photos by everyone.

I'd vote for Delphinium, too, pixie.

Thank you pirl! Amazing as it came from a packet of seeds I picked up at WalMart one day. I was walking by and saw a packet of seeds and it simply said "Blue Flower Seed Mix". I can't tell you how impressed I am by what has come out of that packet.
here's the variety that has bloomed so far.

I'll have to go to a Wal Mart next spring and see if they carry that packet here. You've had some gorgeous results from it.

Whitehall, PA(Zone 6a)

Pixie- I agree your blue flower mix is a winner! That Nigella is gorgeous in bloom, and I've heard the seed heads are supposed to be very interesting as well (maybe you could post a pic if you have?).

Kassia- I love your zinnia & cosmos combo. Also that sunflower is really different, have not seen that one before.. neat!

Al- If you would be willing to save seeds for me that would be GREAT! I am still looking for the Sea Holly too. I know my 'have' list is rather short, but if you want anything in trade let me know. I am doing a trade with someone from Gardenweb that is sending me a bunch of extra seeds she has, so those will be going on my list as soon as I receive them.
The Agastache rupestris (rupestrises? lol) I have are first year plants, so not to full size yet. It's a smaller species though, mature size 36-42” tall x 18” wide, with a nice compact & upright form.
Below is my Agastache cana 'Heather queen' which I planted last autumn and has come back this year with a vengeance. I love it! It's has a very nice upright form, and is about 36" tall by about 24" wide. I have not seen any hummingbirds near the Agastaches yet, but lots of bees and, to my great dismay, they have been attracted some kind of biting fly (the cana moreso than the rupestris).

I wish I could somehow post the scent of this plant's foliage so you could all enjoy it as much as I do. mmmmmmmm

Walmart gets their seeds from China where the plants work cheaper.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

I'll save you those 2 then aspen. I don't have a want list - just a 'don't have room' for list.

Nice blue flowers Pix.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Hooray! I have seedlings (wintersown juveniles) of that Agastache rupe-whatever.

I love Kassia's posts! Most of us say 'shot of my xyz dahlia' or 'finally got my stupid zyrantheum 'Made Up' to open' or even 'Pretty blue flowers' or 'nice pink daises'. Kassia says "I adore these gorgeous roses." Or "these dahlias are fantastic! I LOVE them!!" She is charmingly extremely lavish with words, especially emotional words. Most of us don't say we love our flowers, or do we? We're too uptight to admit those types of feelings, esp. for plants...

At least I am.

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

oh Carrie, I am a bit pathetic... but the truth is that I really LOVE these plants... can't live without them anymore...

David, I am not very good planting seeds... they are so close to each other... but I love the big cosmos and zinnias together... oh they are gorgeous to look at it and next year I am going to do that again!!!

I learned some things this year about seeds... less seeds in one area is best!!!!

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Oh my goodness! I can't keep up with all of you. What great pics. I can contribute a few too. Hope you like as much as I do. :)

Caryopteris, a golden one ,not sure which one it is.
