I always like the interesting form of Vancouver.
What's blooming today? #9
Those are perfect! Not a bug or bite on them!
And I thought you were engraving 'Big City' into the plants!
Pretty sneaky you are. I like them both anyway. Orange overload alert!
That's a thought Victor.
*sigh*
Simply glorious everyone. I am past the jealousy stage and well into the planning stage!!
Can I say 'Tithonia' and still sound macho??
Sound macho?? Why would you want to do that, Victor? Sensitive, Intelligent, Gardener Men are IN this season....haven't you heard??
Al and Anita - Those orange beauties are super!
Candyce - I'm sighing right along with you..........I'm also wishing I had planted zinnias this year......I blew it.......they are so cheerful and colorful. But there's next year...that's what I find fun about seeing everyone's pics.........so many ideas!!
Louise, are you saying that one cannot be sensitive, intelligent AND macho??
Maybe.........Is macho "real" or wannabe? If it is the same thing as masculine, then yeah....you can be all three at once. My DH is all three, and I'm sure you are too! But "macho"......hmmmmm........that's a different image for me....I think of guys in movies trying to look tough..... sort of shallow....not witty and capable of taking great photographs of amazing flowers and being kind and helpful to DG friends.......But if you want to be macho, maybe you shouldn't say "tithonia" just in case..........:)
Masculine with a lisp?
I didn't care for the image presented when I checked the Google definition and then images. They sound like they're all show and no depth.
I like to present myself as slow and shallow. Keeps expectations low and then I can only impress.
Yeah, Pirl - slow, no depth, lots of heavy gold chains........??..See, gardeners can't do their thing with all those chains getting in the way in the dirt. Hence, Real Men aren't macho, are they? Not that there's anything wrong with gold chains........except on slow, shallow guys......but dirty hands are better.
oh boy...
Your Ed Murray is beautiful! No gold chains on him!
We were talking about macho men - Victor started it - what else is new? We can always count on Victor for fun.
I agree with DonnieBrook and will always prefer a man who can garden and get dirty over the gold-chained macho men. By the time most of those guys reach Senior Citizen years they look pathetic and so out of date.
I have to tell you....hubby rototilled me a new garden this year and there is nothing more macho than a man with no shirt (he does have a gold chain *lol*), workboots, and shorts rototilling horse manure in to the dirt for his wife *lol*
Hubby is not a gardener but he always does the "heavy" stuff for me and I always sit back and think...wow, I am a lucky woman :) I LOVE men in the garden....I think it's very masculine.
I'm with you girls - macho and gold chains are not for me. (I should have know it was Victor who started it) My DH will do some heavy work for me but usually not without complaint. He does it so I won't hurt myself anymore than I already am, but he hasn't got a clue to what I do when he's not around!! Eleanor
As long as they can do what we need done that's enough. They can wear whatever they please if the job gets done.
Like an umbrella hat?
Amazing photograph, Victor.
I'm less than that Victor - I don't even wear my ring.
Thanks Cat. Al, I hinted early on that I might not want to wear mine. After the resulting hospitalization, my mind had been changed.
Is that what caused your back problems?
I don't wear my rings either. Actually had them on last week while scrubbing the kitchen floor and the wedding ring broke in half.
Hee hee - no Pirl. Wow, the ring broke in half?! Tell Jack he should have skipped the gum ball machine and gone to a real jeweler!
Right!
Actually it was from a box of Cracker Jacks, of course.
Ha - well Jack got the prize!
Booby prize?
Floopy prize?
Very unique and beautiful picture Victor :)
(looking up Clethra now on google *lol*)
Thanks Kim. It has one of the best fragrances. I have about 6 or 7 mature ones and the scent fills the entire garden at times. Also, it grows from shade to full sun and can sit in wet areas. Very versatile.
wonderful shots victor.... ngam the after midnight is very nice
The Clethra is gorgeous - great photograph.
