What's blooming today? #9

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Lovely photos, Kim.

I'm very sorry about your beautiful Kazzpurr. It must be a heartbreaker for Jess.

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

Thank you SO MUCH Pirl. It has been extremely hard on Jess. She is a BIG TIME animal (and baby) lover and would watch Animal Planet all day long if I let her. She wants to go to college to become an animal cop and rescue animals that are not being cared for properly. She wants to adopt everyone's animals even if the owner doesn't want her to *lol*

I LOVE this forum, you are all so caring and it really touches the soul. Gardeners are such a SPECIAL class of people!!

We rescued a cat from the street in Queens when I was still at home and I named him Casper. Kazz is a cute play on that.

Some night shots of my own. Here's Caladium.

Luv your DL cross Kim.

Victor very cool pics, specially the clem seed head and monarda. My RW is new and no flowers yet. I hope it sets a couple blooms just so I can see the color in the garden. Still cool and wet here too.

Looks like you had a little rain Victor. How did you get the drops so nicely arraigned and stuck to the tomato like that?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

It took some doing David!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

That seed head is very nice, Victor. We had guests last weekend and the one woman loved the heads so much I told her to cut off all she wanted and she did.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

very pretty cosmo kassia..... hey free dead heading pirl... got to love that

Upper Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 5a)

Nice pics everyone. Victor - love the color of the Raspberry Wine monarda. Gotta have that next year - mine is pink. Eleanor

Kim - love your DL cross, and your other pics are also very nice. Victor - you really made up for lost time while you were away. All of your pics are great! Nice going!!

Eleanor - I'm with you....I want that Raspberry Wine also, as well as a bright red. Mine are a pinkish lavender, and I'd like some contrast mixed in with them. I'm looking around everywhere I go for some red ones to "help" deadhead. :)

Gorgeous day for gardening, everyone!! AND it's a Saturday to boot! I'm heading outside to soak it all in, and to get my hands really dirty. Enjoy!!

Kim - I like those dl's.

Victor - the begonia and belamcanda are nice night shots.

Kass - I've had seashells and double click cosmos and am convinced double click is a sport of seashells - which is sort of what you have. I like that form, but the flowers don't last very long on them.

Hi Donnie - I got my work done already - too hot.

Big 'ole standard hydrangea - Limelight

Thanks Al. How old is your Limelight? Been considering it. How tall is yours now? Did it already have the green tint or does that come later?

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Wowzer, Alzer....the blooms on that Limelight look like puffy clouds from heaven!! Do the blooms turn pink at some point? That's gorgeous!

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

That shrub I bought as a gallon pot for $5, 5 years ago. I will call it 99% white 1% green. Donnie - those stay white until they are frozen. Tardiva that is opening now will blush up.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Wow, so it never gets 'lime' for you?

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

No, almost an ivory. I think other reviews are similar. I don't mind, it is really nice.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Then it would be nice to mix with the ones that turn pink. How much sun does it receive?

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

I think so, I have Quickfire in front of it. I will call it full sun, probably could take part shade. Not exactly the same light requirements as macrophyll's.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Someone is sending me a 'Limelight' this week and said it's a lovely light green for her in shade. Here it will be in shade so when it blooms I can let y'all know the color.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

It's a Proven Winners plant and they say full sun to part shade. They also say it holds the rich lime green color into Fall when it turns pink! Guess Al's never read its description.

Al - your dahlia hasn't open all the way yet, but I thought I'd give you a taste of it..

That blue background is lovely.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Al - maybe your Limelight stays white because it is in full sun instead of part shade? What an interesting plant either way. I agree with Victor that it would be really pretty mixed with the pinks.

Pirl - I'll be interested to know the color of your Limelight blooms too.

Anita - I love that pic with the orange against the blue sky. Wow!

Today was just a splendid day, wasn't it??? I did hand-to-hand combat with the gallant soldiers for more than an hour (with Molly supervising over my shoulder, just in case I got close enough to the green beans for her to grab one) and then discovered some softball sized honeydews hiding among the last cucumber stragglers. I pinched off some of the honeydew flowers and some of the pumpkin flowers to try to get a few with some size. They are getting such a late start this year. Now the green beans, on the other hand, are still going gangbusters.....even the first row I planted is still giving some really nice beans. I did more veggies than flowers today, so no pics to share. Another nice day here tomorrow. Hope you all have a nice one too.

Upper Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 5a)

Just quickly browsed through all of the pics. They are all wonderful!! Eleanor

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Well hi Ms. Bryk2, I had to go through my little black book and see what I sent you - I know what it is. I do like your last photo - Tithonia?

Maybe my eyes are going then Victor - I did go out to study Limelight further, the newest flowers have a green tint, the older are cream and the oldest pure white. I think I'll rip it out tomorrow then.LOL
