HELLO, HELLO ALL!!!! I"M BAAAAAAACCKKKKKKKKK!!! Didja "guys" miss me?!?!
Geez, I go on vacation for a week and look at all the postings!
AuntB/Bonnie: Our puter at home is "fixed" (new hard drive) now I have to get busy and post pics! My first brug is flushing---it's gone from a creamy white to a light creamy yellow. My tropical garden is also in the backyard (facing the alley) so when I "come" and "go" I always have to step out of the car to admire my beauties!!! I LOLed at the fake hydrangea blooms!!! Love that idea! DH and I just got a "Big Daddy" Hydrangea and now you're giving me ideas for a prank...hubby always notices when something looks "yucky" in the garden but when something is blooming (such as my brug) I HAVE to take his hand and walk him to show him the beauty! ARGH!!! Anyhoo, I'm gonna have to look for fake hydrangea bloom stalks now---and then see how long it takes him to notice...hee! hee!
ZZ: Wowsers---almost 90 (NINETY...whoa!!!) brugs...OMG, all they all diff cultivars or, multiples of several brugs? NOW, WE HAVE TO HAVE A VISUAL (pictures!!!) even if they're not all in bloom---that has to be a magnificent view and fragrance! Oops...don't wanna slurp/drool all over puter keyboard and short it out...LOL!
Amanda: Beautiful bloom color...so worth the wait, hey?!?!
As far as being a "garden(ing) addict: "...an addiction to gardening is not all bad when you consider all the other choices in life..."
Just "ME"...Jan
I think I'm going to lose my Brugs! What am I doing wrong?
Shoot yeah, Jan! This is incredible!!!!!!!!!
Don't kill those bugs! They will bite so be careful.. but they eat a huge variety of bad bugs... so even at the risk of being bitten, don't kill em just stay away from em!
No blooms to speak of here Jan.. the weather JUST took a turn for the better and it won't be long now.. I've got buds on several... I do need to take a pic of my jungle.. as small as it is.. it's tropical here to say the least!
JAN!! I've been wondering about you! We DID miss you! I almost d-mailed you yesterday. Glad you're back and hope you had a wonderful relaxing vaca! Great about the computer, too! Welcome back!
Diehrd, I like the pronunciation help... Calabogue Sound... cool! Sounds like a great time! 80 degrees in October???? Nnice. We've had ice storms in October, before. Well I just thought, maybe there is a plant called a dome plant.... It could be like a potted tree with a rounded (DOME-shaped) canopy......
understandable about the plant... maybe i could name one that?... but yeah no snow here, except one time you could see flakes in the sky, and a tiny few stuck to the dry sand on the dunes at the beach...but yeah... winter is SOOOOOOOO BORING here! only 1/2 the trees lose leaves, and those kepp 1/2 of theirs til spring and then drop em. cold days might get down to 45 as the high, so if it gets cold at night and we have freezing rain (rare), then it melts in the morning, so those cold nights are nothing to look foreward to, as they are only uncomfortable temps that burn all the tropicals that are marginal here. yeah the 70's are possible in january, but the 50s are what to expect. this past yer, almost all non-native palms got burned here, as well as all the beautiful old oleander bushes, philodendrons etc yall have beauty to look foreward to, while we have brown. today it was 95 @ 5:00, but i have no idea how hot it was as the hi, cuz i was in skool, and nvr notice the the heat or humidity anymore... its just routine... so yeah how have yall been?
oh yeah and JanLynn, its nice to meet you!
-DHS
WOW! DHS, I can't wait to see the flower on that puppy!
ERMINE!!! Did you get it from Karchesky? I HAVE to have that one!! It's BEAUTIFUL! How tall is it? I'm starting to love white blooms for some reason... they almost glow at night ......it's gorgeous..... Oh, ehem.... Your brug is doing great! I mean, it's been just a few days since you last posted their "portrait". They've DOUBLED in size! Look at all of them!!! You're a good brug daddy, DH. Be sure to leave the "time-released" camera on that cluster of BEAUTY! How exciting!! Oh, what else do you have blooming down there???? :)
Can anyone tell me what DH means?
HG=diehrd - - DHS diehrdsouthrnr :)
Ah Oh typo Aunt B! LOL
Should I trim back the lower leaves for better viewing of the blooms and for promoting more tree-like growth?
Amanda, trimming of leaves is a personal preference.... it won't hurt the plant any, if they are lower and you are going for the "tree" look, I'd trim them off, but if they are higher up I'd let em be. I would "re-locate" the big bloom in front on the left.... thay way you can see it better, just carefully move it between the leaves or stems until you can see it better......
WELL, DUH! Typo and dislexia, ZZ (I'm at work and I think they actually think I should work before playing in DG)!! Just took my vitamins, I'll get better as the afternoon progresses..lol DH normally means Dear Hubby.... Here, D H means diehrd.... DM- dear mother, DS dear sister----etc. We just call our southerner DH cause we don't know is real name.. ;)
LOL Far be it for me to type perfect! LOL I can relate! I steal a moment to come and see what's goin on and usually in such a rush I miss 1/2 of it.
That one's gonna explode Amanda!
See! What is the deal with me today?? "cause we don't know IS (his) real name"... sheesh, I should leave early, go home and plant something. That would get me back on an even keel...... lol Amanda's "used-to-be little" brug, is thriving! And she thought she was going to lose it! She could be at 90 brugs, too, by end of season next year!
Ha ha, right! I keep giving away my cuttings. Don't have room for 90 Brugs!! :)
Thanks you guys, I'm soooo into this!! Gonna wrap mine with Christmas lights too, once December hits (that's when it can possibly get cold here, although the freezes, if they happen, happen in late January).
Yep! She's hooked. Already has a cold weather plan! (And new cuttings to play with in a few weeks!)
Ha ha, you know it!!
just got back fom church! actually, i got it from lowes, and had someone identify it for me. nothing new is blooming today. lord and lady baltimore hibs blooming, confederate rose growing lots, as well as buttonbush and bottlebrush. curcumas are nice, but are leaning because of the rain the caught in inflo's. canna wyoming is blooming and so is clerodendrum ugandense. beautiful oleanders everywhere except in my yard. mandevilla lantana, the usual stuff. magnolia had beautiful flower today. my name is trent miller so you can call me that if yall want. yall can call me trenton lee, tl, w/e! i have @ least 30 nick names, no exaggerating from 7 grade til now... lol (ex trentius, sextus (latin), tomato, harold, harold the 4th tomato, l-town, rollypoly, barnacle boy.....) so yeah thanks for the brug dad comments, i never really noticed they grew that fast! it seems the 2nd set of buds are developing quicker inside than the first... is that normal? my cold weather plan is similar... christmas lights, blanket... maybe a heater
PS in the winter i could divide rhizomes for postage or trade...
curcumas
i wanna have faces for yall! i remember people by faces, not names, so it wud help me to no yall if i cud see yall
Your beach picture is VERY cool!
Cool pics DHS..
Amanda, having room for 80 brugs is not even a consideration.... it doesn't matter if you have room or not... TRUST ME. LOL
So Go Fish... you'll have to think of some other excuse... not having room just won't cut it for long. Ask anyone here... LOL
AMANDA! You're beautiful! You could have posted one when you're working outside in the dirt.... may have made my ol lady pic look better! LOL Just breath-taking and the happiness shows! How old is that cute wittle girl? We need a pic of her, too! (I think we all just got WAYYYY off topic, but I don't care) ... Oh, TL the buds can form at different speeds, don't know why. Ugandens Clerodendrom, huh? I'm wanting the Incisum- white bloom, look like a musical note.... but I love the blue on Ugandens.... hmmmm, maybe both?
OOOH!!!!...TL, if only I were 40 years younger...nice beach pic!!!!
Amanda....you are absolutely beautiful!!!!
HEE! HEE! "AuntB"...already saw your pic...
so nice to put a face to the names tho, everyone!!!
Following is NOT a good picture of me---I had surgery the day before (hence the crutches in the background) and the blank stare on my face is enhanced by wonderful pain-killing drugs :)
The young lady on the left is my daughter's best friend; my daughter (Rochelle) in the middle sporting her lack of hair (thank goodness she didn't stay in that phase long!!!) and, ME!!! with the cap on (I DO have hair tho...LOLOL!)...
thanks for the compliment!
