my 100 + lb weight loss = my new toy

lewiston, ID(Zone 6a)

Last year I had a bout of colitis and lost 33lbs....as soon as I stabilized most of it came back on....I was in heaven with wearing things I hadn't worn in a probably 10yrs....I guess I should be glad I held on to the fat stuff 'cause I'm wearin' it again.....Deb

What a rough way to loose a few pounds though! Seriously, we need to change our eating habits or we'll battle this all our lives. Stop thinking of this as "dieting", as that's a temporary thing. And figure a way to eat we can live with

Okay, I'm not sure I'm brave enough to post this....but here I am before and 60 lbs lighter. I know I still have some weight to lose, but it is getting better. One good thing about pets....they give you unconditional love no matter what you weigh!

YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!! You must be so proud of yourself!!!! Your puppy is a cutie, too.....Deb

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Oh Beth!!! Thank you for posting your picture! You must be so proud of yourself, you go girl!! And what is that beautiful plant behind you, the bushy one with dark pink blooms?

scio, oregon, OR(Zone 8a)

I think the plant behind me is the zinnia bushes or the morning glories vining throughout them. This is my garden at work where we all have plots to garden if we want one. It makes for a nice break!

(Cathy), MO

You look great! I am so tickled for you. And would love to come take you shopping for that outfit!!! :-)

scio, oregon, OR(Zone 8a)

Cheer me on folks, I need to lose another 40 lbs before I'm through!

(Cathy), MO

You'll be nothing but a stick!

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

How fun is that? A place to garden AT WORK??? Where do you work!!!???

I'm so excited for you, I know you have been working at the weight loss and it's paying off for you, congrats!

scio, oregon, OR(Zone 8a)

I work at HP corvallis...I have ten acres and a garden at home, but having one here at work is a real stress buster!

Rutland , MA(Zone 5b)

hubba, hubba, hubba. you looked beautiful before the weight loss and now you look even more beautiful. glad you can garden while you work. LOL

while i was losing weight i didn't buy any new clothes. instead i just drilled more holes into my belt. lol finally, when i had to buy some clothes all the people at work told me that i looked so much thinner with them. i guess even if you lose weight if the clothes don't fit right you won't look thin.

if you lose the weight then go out and buy something that you like as a reward.

keep the good work up and the calories down.

have a great week.

(Cathy), MO

Good morning everyone. Hope you all have a super day

How's it going this morning Deb? I brought my banana for breakfast. Doing pretty good so far this week. Then again, the week is only 1 day long so far! LOL!
I'm trying to eat smaller and more often too. Like a banana for breakfast, then an oatmeal bar around 10 etc etc. We'll see how it works!

lewiston, ID(Zone 6a)

I'm eating as much fruit as possible....during the night when I'm most "eating active" I had a pear. I had cantaloupe for breakfast and will have blackberries for lunch...Supper will be a pretty regular meal, just much less than usual.....two walks per day and we'll see how this goes...I must say that I feel very positive and determined right now.....GO CAT!!!! smaller portions for all !!!! Deb

scio, oregon, OR(Zone 8a)

Pears are great! The fiber is really filling.

(Cathy), MO

And the fruits keep us so "regular" which is a good thing! :-)
And they are all so good for us.

Keep it up Deb.

Rutland , MA(Zone 5b)

depsi - some where in these posts i mentioned about a book i read that encourages you to eat all the fruit you want BUJT it has to be eaten before 12 noon. according to this author and fiteness expert his wieght loss program goes by the time of the day you eat and not specially what you eat. i have been doing it on and off for a while now and it does help you lose weight along with the rest of his stuff.

enjoy the day everyone

I see it, "Fit for Life".....I'll see if the library has it....thank you.....Deb

lewiston, ID(Zone 6a)

Yup, I just searched online and our library has a copy....Macrobiotic diet is what it says???? I will pick it up today....Thanks again, Herbie....

Rutland , MA(Zone 5b)

fit for life is the name of the book.

its totally different from other diet books.

This month is a little bit of a challenge, since the change of weather makes my rheumatoid arthritis kick in and it is harder to stay on my exercise schedule. I am supposed to walk 5 days a week and only got in 4 days this week. I was just too stiff monday morning to do the walk. I need to force myself no matter how much it hurts. All of those aleve and tylenol things just bother my stomach too much to take. I have come to far to slip up now, so I really have to force myself!

Beth, have you tried the liquid formulas of any of those drugs? My sister has better luck with those.
Pat

Rutland , MA(Zone 5b)

beth - you're looking real good and i am sorry about the pain yhou haeto endure. i have arthritis in both my knees and while i am not in pain i find it very difficult to walk up a flight of stairs unless i can grip both handrails at the same time to help me lift myself up the stairs.

tomorrow is weigh in day for me after my month of parties. will let you know the bad news sunday or monday morning.

Rutland , MA(Zone 5b)

wselllll, after two weddings, one bridaly shower bbq , one after wedding bbq and my vacation i am happy and surprised that i only gained 5 pounds (i guess it was more but i dieted for two weeks before i got on the scale) how did you all do??

lewiston, ID(Zone 6a)

Nothing gained but nothing lost....Deb

(Cathy), MO

Same with me Deb. I did really good thru Friday, but messed up the whole week Friday night and Sat!!! Oh well, today's a new day! Start of a new week! At least we didn't gain.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I was so busy yesterday I did not step on the scale, but I did today. NOT happy news but I'll survive to lose again! I gained one pound, too much stress eating.

It's raining out but I have to get some plants in the ground/mud! I prepared them last night for planting and so they must get in. I'll be soaking wet and muddy BUT!!! ... I expect a beautiful spring. I have hand dug another "few feet" of flower garden and have a good size lasagna bed cooking for spring.

(Cathy), MO

Ok, I know this is not the forum for this, but what is a lasagna bed??

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Lasagna bed is a special way of preparing a new flower bed. You cut the grass VERY short in the area you want a new flower bed. You spread out newspapers, SEVERAL deep and water it well. Then add grass clippings, manure, stredded leaves etc. The newspaper and the layers kill the grass and you get a WONDERFUL rich soil to plant in without the misery of hand digging out the grass. There are lots of great threads here that will give you more details and options.

I have NO skill at providing you some links so many others do so I'm sure someone will give you some easy links to follow. AND yes, it drove me crazy to see "lasagna bed" and know what it was for a while! I'm trying my FIRST one this year!

(Cathy), MO

Hmm, sounds interesting. I wonder how long you have to let it sit before it's ready? I may have to try it!
They have a little bit of everything in this site!!!

(Cathy), MO

How's it going Beth? You're being too quiet!!!

scio, oregon, OR(Zone 8a)

Sorry! I'm away from my computer on the weekends (need a break) because I don't have a computer out at the ranch. I don't even have a dishwasher (other than DH) lol.
I need to try the liquid NSAIDs, maybe they will work better for me. I think it is only this time of year when the stiffness gets really bad. I notice it after being in my car for a drive and getting out and walking. Ouch!

(Cathy), MO

In ways I think this time of year is hard on alot of people. I get hayfever of some kind in the fall. Alot of people with arthritis say it's worse in the fall. Ulcers are worse for some reason. And the weather is cooler so we don't get out as much and the lbs can tend to creep back on!
Last year, I decided I was NOT going to gain any weight over the holiday season. So I starved myself and lost 10 lbs before it ever got there, just in case! LOL! Of course most of it came back during the next few months!

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Cat, there are differing opinions about how soon you can plant in the lasagna beds. If you plant too soon you can "burn" the new plant because the soil is too rich. That said, many people plant so quickly they have to cut thru the newspaper and sod to get the plant in and they claim to have great success. I think alot depends on WHAT you are using on the layers. Hopefully someone will provide you with some links.
Pat

(Cathy), MO

Thanks Pat. I'll have to research it. Hope you're having a good day.

Rutland , MA(Zone 5b)

two of you did good and me and psychw2 gained a little but we will be back on the wagon starting now. RIGHT

have a great evening.

(Cathy), MO

Just like everything else in life! If you fall, get right back up and try again! :-)

lewiston, ID(Zone 6a)

OK, Cat, what seeds do you want???.....been a month...you could've lost 1/2lb and you'd be way ahead of me....my husband is going away hunting for a week so my pledge is to strip the house of the dangerous stuff and be prepared to start both of us on the "Fit for Life" plan when he gets back....have been walking which I am proud of....Herbie, I took the book out of the library and it's very unique....not sure I can follow it exactly but am planning on giving it my best shot...very unique idea...what surprised the heck out of me was that caffine stays in the body for 24hrs....I only have one kidney and my drs have said to limit caffine intake which I do but now it makes more sense to me.....anyway, Cat, let me know and Herbie, thanks for the information.....Deb

(Cathy), MO

Hi all. I didn't loose anything this week. But I didn't gain back! It's kind of been a rough week, but that's no excuse. I didn't really try to last few days! Why don't we call it a draw Deb & start fresh?

scio, oregon, OR(Zone 8a)

I've been at the same weight for aboout 3 weeks now, still have lost 60 lbs but am at a plateau. It's time for my next fill!
