my 100 + lb weight loss = my new toy
2 weeks? By then we will all be slim and trim! You won't recognize any of us! LOL!
Well, it's confession time. After losing 14 pounds in 2 months, I have had an attack of the "candy demons" the last few days. See, I buy reward candy for my students, and I've started eating a few myself. I DID walk for an hour on Monday, but it's been raining since then, so no more exercise other than my fingers on these keys!!!! I'll weigh in tomorrow and report like a good gal.
Connie
susan - I JUIST KNOW yhou will be thinking about me all the tme and won't be able to sleep till i'm home again WITH A MUG.

My clothes don't fit anymore!
Sounds like a really good excuse to go shopping to me!!
I just wish I wasn't one of those people that HATES shopping!
I'm not real fond of it myself, but if I lost enough to need a new wardrobe, I don't think I'd have too much problem! LOL!
beth - good for you. in the past i used to keep my old clothes JUST IN CASE i put back the weight. now i through them out the day i buy new smaller clothes. it gives me incentive. LOL
remember, i'll be gone starting tomorrow for 2 weeks so stay away from anything that will put weight on you lovely svelt bodies. LOL
good luck to all of us.
Cat, do you have any idea about the name of the book about emotional eating? I'm sitting here at 3am reading this 'cause I can't sleep and just ate 4 Hershey's Nuggets. I've never come across this thread before and I think you all are just what I need....I've got a good 60lbs to take off to put me back on the road to good health.....Thanks to all of you for being out there.....Deb
depsi - welcome to our club. we will give you all the encouragement you need to drop those pounds. thanks for the picture. it nice to have a face with a name and a pretty face at that.
good luck/
You are a WONDERFUL inspiration!!!!!!!! Thank you and here's to a new day of healthy choices....think I'll try to sleep again....Deb
I feel real fat and haven't done as good so I need to buckle down. Welcome Cat
Hello again everyone. Ok I weighed in this morning and today officially starts my "program" or whatever I decide to call it! Diet is a dirty word for most of us, it makes you feel deprived just be saying the word! LOL!
Thanks Hellnzn11. If I have this figured out, you are Dawn, right?
Deb, I don't know the name of the book but will see what I can find out. I just got back last night from being gone 2 days. Have a new grand daughter. Kailey Dawn.
Only "4" Hersheys Nyggets?! I probably would've eaten half the bag! Want to be my start buddy Deb? We can both start today!
Cat, you got a deal....I'll have to study this to see how it's formatted but, yes, I would like to be your buddy....Congratulations on the new little girl...lucky you...I have two boys....Deb
Formulated? You mean on here? I don't think there is any particular way. It seems like it's just a large support group, all helping each other out. I plan on weighing in every Sun morning, and will report what I've lost (or gained if it applies LOL) on here. If I understand it right, I think everyone is choosing whatever works for them and sharing it with everyone else.
I've never had a problem loosing weight, mine is like Herbie said, when you go "off the diet" it all comes back!
Have you lost weight before? What works best for you?
Morning all..well have lost 2 lbs. not great but it's a start..purchased some pkgs. to add to my water in hopes with the new taste of fruit it will help me drink more...
Craving for turkey, so here I am all by myself yesterday and I cook a big turkey and trimmings..had a few slices of white meat and turnip..not dieting, just cutting back..instead of 3 or 4 coke..down to 1, no sugar in coffee..salads for lunch..to treats...you are all doing fantastic..keep it up..
That's the way I'm going to try to look at it this time. Not dieting, just healthier choices. Maybe it will help if I don't completely cut out certain foods, just eat them less often? I'm bad to grab something if I get bored. I think I'm going to go thru the kitchen today and get rid of most of the junk food in there. I love fruits so am going to keep more of them on hand. Maybe if I don't make too many drastic changes, I can adopt the ones I do make for the long haul!
OK, I gotcha!!! I will weigh in on Sunday am and post it....I am going to exercis e....that my downfall...no exercise on a consistent basis...Cat, I will be watching for you and cheering you on.....we have to set a goal or maybe a competition????? nothing real detailed, just a reward???? we have visitors coming from CA tomorrow & staying until Thursday + I have 6 dozen snickerdoodles to do for the Humane Society booth at the Fair this weekend but after it settles down I'll sit down and read each post word for word and get a better overview......Good Luck & let's do it!!!!!!!!!!!!! Deb
Snickerdoodles? Yummy! Better watch it! You'll be having to try a bunch of them to make sure they taste ok! LOL!
I don't think you have to post what you weigh, just what you loose or gain and how you did it. Seems like we are making up our own rules as we go along!
I'm game for a little competition. Weight fluctuates so much though. Lets do this. We will go to 4 weeks from today and whoever has lost the most, the other has to send them a pkg of their favorites seeds? Gotta be careful we don't loose it too fast though. That kind of loss never seems to stay off!
We're on.....Deb
Well you probably already have me beat for today! I'm fixing chicken and noodles for supper! I'll try to not eat so much though. Gotta start somewhere!
Hi everyone!
Weighed today...lost one pound......YIPEE!!! I am actually really happy about that because it seems the last few weeks I have been gaining.
Just came back from the grocery store and they had those Birds Eye Frozen Veggie Steamers on Sale so I loaded up. I love those things! They are really great, low cal, no fat...and really good. Lots of different veggie combinations.
I am going to make more of an effort to get my cardio in. I have a feeling that when I do the weight will start to come off. My trouble is figuring out the best time for me to exercise. If I do it first thing in the morning, before work, well that would have to be around 5 am to allow enough time to workout, get ready for work, and take care of all the fur children......YUCK!!!!
Or, do it when I get home from work....that is usually somewhere between 6:00-08:00 pm. Usually I run home, make dinner, feed the fur kids and tidy up the house and and tend to all the other stuff that comes along with life :-) ....DOUBLE YUCK!!! I end up feeling pretty tired. It just never seems like a good time but I just have to figure out when to fit it in.
When do you all exercise? Does anyone else have a hard time squeezing it in?
Hope everyone has a great week!
-Tia
Hi Tia. I think that's a problem with alot of us. We'd have to get up in the middle of the night to have any more time in our days!!! My kids are grown and gone now, but I'm normally so beat after I get home from work, exercise is the last thing I want to do. And it doesn't help that I sit at a desk most of the day. I thought of starting to walk at lunchtime, but haven't had the get up and go to do it yet!
Congradulations on your lb!!!
Good morning everyone. Hope you all have a wonderful day.
I have made some "not so good food choices" over the week. Between being out of town and STRESS, I have done some emotional eating. Lucky me, I still managed to loss one pound. I will make BETTER choices this week, the kind of choices that lead to positive expectations at the scales instead of "luck".
Pat
We have GOT to figure out this emotional or stress eating! It seems to be a problem for alot of us!
That is the ticket...figuring out how to overcome the stress eating...I'm a living example of the Relacore advertisement...."Do You Have Belly Fat?" etc....hate those commercials but do make me wonder why I'm so fat around the middle....it just hits there and stays....Deb
I do think stress has alot to do with it. I did a search on emotional eating and came up with a few ideas, but got interrupted. Sounds like we need to figure out WHY we do it to start with, before we can get a handle on it. Something in our lives isn't quite right apparently. And boy could THAT open a can of worms! LOL!
There was a time when I honestly thought I had conquered the stress eating. I was no longer turning to food to soothe the discomfort. In the beginning it was hard, I would have to argue with myself "Ice cream WILL not make fix the problem, you still have to face the test!" The problem with stress eating is that is does TEMPORARILY alleviate the stressful emotions. However, the guilt, the beating myself up over the "weakness", AND the weight gain (or lack of loss), does not outweigh (excuse the pun) the benefits to the stress eating!!! I need to go back to reminding myself and work harder at talking to myself about it while I'm in the emotional turmoil.
There will always be stress in life. I've made a lot of process at facing and fixing stressful things in my life that used to contribute to emotional eating. I just need to implement what I KNOW and stop taking the easy way out with food. The "easy way" is actually the least productive way in the long run.
Pat
You know, I've never really been a "joiner". By nature I'm a very private person and don't share much of the real inside person, with very many people. Didn't want anyone knowing much about how I really feel or think. But I'm wondering now, if a group like this might be one of the best things that could happen. Sometimes just talking to people who go thru some of the same things, can help.
Stress?? My whole "life" is one big bundle of stress! LOL!
And especially when everyone wants to be supportive, has no history with you so can't say "Oh, you've tried this before & you know it doesn't work" or any of the other "encouraging" things family & friends can say, and does not preach or judge...Look at Herbie....he starts this 'cause he wants to share what worked for him and I'm proud of him tho I've never met him and never will...I still feel I know abit about what has brought him happiness so I want to cheer him on!!!. Stay Strong....Deb
Morning All!
Did two miles on my treadmill last night! Woke up with sore muscles and can't get back to sleep!!! Feels good to know I am getting my body moving again. Need to keep it going though. off to prepare my meals for today...
everyone have a healthy happy day! :-)
-Tia
Good morning all. It's a beautiful morning here. One of those cool crisp mornings that tells me fall is on the way.
Ah yes Deb, the "encouragement" we get from our loved ones! All they "I don't know why you do this you know you won't be able to stick with it's" and the "It might last a week"s, etc etc. I don't know if they think they are doing reverse psychology or what.
So how did you do yesterday? I tried to watch it a little but didn't go crazy. I'm trying to pace myself this time. Make a few changes at a time so maybe they will last! LOL!
Tia, being sore is a good thing! Keep it up!
With our guests here we went for a large breakfast this morning but only had shrimp salad for dinner tonight....Boy, if it just was as easy to take it off as it is to put it on....we took pics today and it just shocks me when I see how fat I am....I'm the lighter brown haired one with a striped shirt on...
Nice picture! I try to stay away from cameras! Don't want to break the lens. LOL!
I couldn't resist, I got on the scales this morning. I know they say not to weigh yourself often or you'll get discouraged. But can you believe I'd actually lost a lb even after pigging out on chicken and noodles? Twice!! I'm also cutting down on Pepsi. That's the only soft drink I like, but I'm limiting it to no more than 1 a day now. I'd kind of like to stop drinking it completely; I know it's not good for you, but it just tastes so good!!!
Have a good day everyone
Cat, I'm assuming the Pepsi is not sugar-free? Over the years the pop manufacturers have come up with several pops that are sugar-free that are MUCH improved over the stuff they used to offer. My favorite is A&W Sugar-free Root beer. Of course, Pepsi has also come out with new varieties of their own sugar-free. If you have not tried all the new stuff, it might be worth giving it a try. Just a thought...
Have a healthy and "mindful" day! Pat
Hi Pat. Yes, I have tried the sugar free. The only sugar free soda I can stomach is the Sunkist lemonade and orange. And I can't drink them very often. I don't drink tea, coffee, or alcohol.
I think if I can keep it to one every day or every other day, I'll do okay. I drink super cold bottled water the rest of the day.
Lost another 1.5 lbs last week. Still losing!
