What is growing nicely for you right now? page 2

The Allium 'Hair' would look cool near some Clematis seed heads. Personally I'd like to see one named Allium 'Don King'.

That's many women who forget the hair conditioner in the shower.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

al i am soooo jealous over your orange & lemon... i have been keeping watch on where i can grab one.... love them

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Oh yeah - thanks Al! Actually I like that one. It's more reds and certain deeper oranges I'm not crazy about. You're starting to sell me on Gaillardia.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Are you saying I'm on the payroll of the big gaillardia lobbyists?

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

I'm playing with my new computer.
Here are 2 of my 7 or 8 bonica roses by the curb

These orange roses have a little point in the middle of each petal (I shouldn't have taken these pics at noon)

Some hostas. The one on the right is kossa regal. They are pretty big.

But not as big as this one.

love the orange rose dave... i see your hosta are like mine... we are going to split some of ours this fall

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Nice roses and hostas Dave. How old are the hostas?

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Very nice Dave!! Your Hosta's are huge!! Whats the name of the orange rose??

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Nice Dave. Love those Roses. Is that full-size? I have Krossa Regal - I like it a lot.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Great photos, Dave. Love the orange one!

Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Pirl,
An umbrella hat!! I haven't seen one of those in a long time. You're too funny.

My New Dawn rose is floopy. It's leaning on a hydrangea.

Dave,
Enjoy your new computer. Wireless is great.

Floppy but still beautiful.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Floppy or floopy it's still a lovely rose. Mine was floppy and faced the earth for too many years so it was deleted. I wish you better luck than I had.

Yes, the umbrella hat, when worn to nurseries should get me immediate attention. If not I'll just whip out my fire torch!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

What if Mary Poppins had that option available??

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

She'd be able to say: Look Mom, no hands!

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

Great Roses. I have only one, a bright red Meidelan shrub. My camera hates red, maybe I can shoot the entire bush in stead of just a flower? This way you will see little red puffs, lol. I'll wait for the sun to get lower/behind the trees.
This is what's growing best right now for me.
I pick this much every day

I have some pale pink campanula that are doing well...but the problem is that they are boring. There is nothing about them that says, Wow! Look at me!...but I don't want to waste plants that are doing perfectly fine. I just keep telling myself that I have to have some "boring" plants to make the really special ones stand out. Tamara

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Andy - they look better than our asparagus!

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Andy - that would look good, but I am eating mine as fast as I can to compete with the squirrels.

You had asked about gaillardia height. Here is my bed today - Goblin front left,Oranges and Lemons back left and Fanfare right.

Perhaps some of have seen this on another thread but thought some of you might want to see the roses that where my DH grandmother, way over 100 years old, they have been transplanted four times , was very happy to see I did not send them to rose heaven.

Very nice Maria. Great Rose and great tradition.

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

Thank you Victor, wish I knew thw name but.....lol

BTW My oriental lilies looked so healthy but now something is eating them , I understand it is some new sort of miserable black bug but have been unable to find it on any thread, Does any one know here on this thread?

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

I think it's a beetle. Check with the Lilies Forum and with Moby.

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

super pics everyone...Dave - I remember the days when we were impressed that you even posted a pic!!! I'm so proud of you! Those Strawberries look yummy!!! Here are a few I took this weekend. I thought of you Victor when I shot the backround.

Beautiful!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Beautiful Anita! Yes - a JM is great in any photo.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Nice story Maria - sort of reminds me of A Sand County Almanac with the history that plant has seen.

Nice pics Anita - I normally take pics without the sun to get the true colors, but have tried to include more sun and shadows in some.

I just have another hollyhock today.

Thumbnail by bigcityal
(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

That one reminds me of the dining room side of the house where I grew up. The whole side was filled with light hollyhocks. So lovely!

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

It works out well for my Pirlene, because it grows tall and hides the chain link fence some.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

I remember when they were taller than I was and then the roles reversed. They would be great on their own but to serve a dual purpose is even better.

(Plus, they're not floopy or floppy!)

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

Al, thanks for the Gaillardia shot. It's nice to see them together.
Maria, do your beetles look like this. These eat all the leaves. Nasty.

Thanks folks! I don't know the name of the orange rose. I lost the tag. But I could look it up at Chamblees. I moved in here 6 years ago and the hosta were already here. The person before me didn't like hosta, so I think they are at least 8 years old.
None of my roses are fully grown. The orange rose and this pink were planted last year. The bonicas are 3 yrs. old
Loretta, Yes, I'm enjoying being wireless. I think it has helped with pics too.

Very nice Anits!

Sarahskeeper looking at that strawberry photo makes my mouth water... and I think this forum is PG-13 ;)

bigcityal wish you lots and lots of blooms.... look like they are off to a good start

Maria glad to see your roses are doing well

Anitabryk2 wish i could figure out how you guys do the picture on picture thing... i would love to do that with all my pansy & viola

That orange rose is Easy Going. The pink is Belinda's Dream. Both are own root roses.

This is wegelia with meadow rue behind it.

one wish - it's a program called lumapix. http://www.lumapix.com/ . Do the hollyhock bloom all summer? Al, could you take a pic of them, but not a close up? I'm curious to see how they look.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Dave's on a roll alright.

Anita - they do flower all summer. They really don't flop, late late in the season they will bend over some as they become heavier with seeds. Here is nigra in the front and the pink one is in back farther. That fence is 5' or so.
