Fla. Cardinal looks like it is PLASTIC!!! It is just beautiful!!!

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

"Florida Cardinal" may look plastic, but it's the real thing! :~)

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

I meant that as a compliment..lol We have been talking about asiatic lilies here, and they look artificial like that, but they smell heavenly so you know they are real!! LOL

They just have such a sturdy look about them, I bet they are stunning even from a distance!!!

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

Thanks, Janet. I have them growing in containers so that they don't get nibbled on (as much) by slugs. Plus, they are easier to over winter that way too.

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

Well, I am thinking m ost of the ones I still have to plant will be in containers as well...lol I do love the way they look in the ground though...especially surrounding my flower beds!

Look at the co-op thread for a possible co-op to finish out the year with Bill. He's going to give me a GREAT deal. But I need to know if there's interest.

All the Caladium pics are great! I just planted a bunch more I got from Bill and cannot believe how fast they come up when the ground is warm. (Love the Rosebud's Bill! :))

I am so amazed by them! This is the first year I ever planted them directly in the ground. I remember when I first planted them back in April and being impatient. Took about 5 weeks for them at that time. Now it's a matter of a couple of weeks!

These were planted exactly 2 weeks ago and they're starting to "pop"

The original ones I planted, but a couple of weeks ago added some rosebud and gingerland...

Just Love them!!!

Very nice pictures!

Kathy,

They're flying out of the ground right now. In the picture above marked Mixture, the reds in the center were planted 15 days ago and they're already huge. We have the perfect weather for them, that's for sure. Hot and humid!! And we're finally getting our summer rains..YeeHaw!!

You're FL Beauty's look awesome. I can't believe I don't have any. I want some for my collection but Caladium Bulb Company is out of them. :-(
Your Marie Moir's are looking good. It looks like they're getting quite a bit of sun. Are the leaves burning on them?
The rest of them look great too.....

Bill...

Considering the amount of sun they're getting, the Marie Moir's aren't doing too bad. When I planted them back in April, the sun sure wasn't near as strong as it is now and of course I didn't have the forethought to think it would move so much! I just wish I had more shade.

I do love those Fl Beauty's! Again, I think they're getting a little too much sun also! Hopefully next year, things will grow a bit and create some shade. Those Red Flash are amazing in Sun though...as well as the Galaxy! Love the Rose-buds!

I still have a bunch of empty beds...Do you think it would be crazy to pop some more Bulbs in now? How long do you think they'll go for - October/November? I am so tempted to order some more as it sure doesn't take long for them to come up! Do you have any sun-lovers left in stock?

I just think they are so good!

Port Charlotte, FL(Zone 10a)

By the way? I'm thinking I'm going to leave these in the ground and not dig them up right? Next year I think I'll relocate those Firecrackers and make this an entire Caladium bed. If you leave them in, what kind of plants can you expect the second year? Or, should I dig them up?

Lake Placid, FL(Zone 9b)

K,

Leave them in the ground. They'll pop back up next year all by themselves. That bed would look awesome filled with Caladiums!!!

Y'alls Caladiums make mine look a little puny looking, but I still am thrilled to death with their beauty. I have two other full beds of them planted, but they were planted later and haven't come up real well yet.

Thanks, I will go out and label it now, before I forget.

I got this caladium (Carolyn Wharton) at a garage sale for 80 cents. The lady worked at a greenhouse and after a certain time they tell workers they can take them or they will be "dumped" out back. It does get sun until about 2 pm............should I move it to a shadier spot?

Birmingham, IA(Zone 5a)

Sorry, here's the pic.

Leeave it right where it's at. Carolyn Whorton will do great in full sun. It's the most sun tolerant of all the different pinks.

Thanks for the Birthday wishes everyone!!
I sure do feel old today that's for sure. Mentally I'm still a youngster but physically, now that's a different story...lolol...
