Ashley's Ice Cream. Named after a frisbee playing dog.
Fresh Pot of Coffee!
ok... good to know... after pizza .... well, one has to have a dessert!
Dave, (thanks :0) not a calzone, which is kind of a turnover with pizza filling. although kind of like a calzone on a bigger scale. you take a pizza crust, with toppings, but no sauce, add another crust on top, bake it in a deep dish. when the top crust is baked, you put the sauce on and bake it a little more. if you get it with ricotta, it tastes almost like lasagna. now I want one and we're not close by anymore :-(
Dave,
I think apizza gain is what happens after you eat apizza grain. We call the Easter grain pie pastiera.
This thread is making me hungry.
Kassia, no. A bread machine won't do it. Bagels have to be first cooked in simmering water, then baked in an oven. I sent Anita the recipe. I hope she's home making bagels tonight.
Sorry, NH is much too far for me to travel to. I can't travel at all, actually. Obligations at home. They probably don't deliver to Depew.
Apizza gain (and you will) is ham pie. Apizza grain is dessert wheat pie. Loretta, You call it pastiera? New for me. All the Provinces are so different. My grandmother's rule was onions are for salad, garlic is for sauce. Not so with Sicilians. It's all funny to me but they really had their stereotypes by province.
But when it comes to food they all taste good.
Hey pizza gang!
Not much too add here, I don't really have much for pizza I like around here. There was a place, but it went out of business.
Hi, Al. I guess we knew Wisconsin wasn't the pizza capital of the world. Got some mighty fine cheese though.
I never knew that Buffalo had a lot of Italian-Americans. Only knew about Tim Russert and his Dad.;)
oh, you mean Tim Russerti?
I eat a lot of cheese - I can't deny that. Not many Italians here.
I like cheese. I worked at Hickory Farms for a time in my youth and grew to appreciate other than 'processed cheese food'.
hmmm...baked brie....
Ok - my neck of the woods seems to be very much out of whack!!! I saw Forsythia blooming along the Expressway! I have a mandavilla bloom as well as blooms on alot of my other annuals. I've already mentioned that I have an iris this about ready to pop!
Poor plants...so confused
Poor Anita...so confused.
Gram Loved Tim Russerti! And his Dad, Big Redollini. Anyway, if people in Buffalo are as nice as Tim, it would be a cool place.
lol... lol.... Anita, for a second I got excited about the forsythia blooming...lol... I got confused....
Anita - things are "out of whack" down here too :) When Rick picked me up at the airport Monday night, there was a weeping Cherry tree in full bloom! Guess the plant world is as confused as we are - LOL!
Catching up after my trip and all the talk about Acadia is making me homesick. Really miss the fall colors of New England and there's nothing like the coast of Maine. One thing I don't miss - snow!!!
Anita, I was thinking of forsythia on my way to work and quickly spotted severeal bushes that appeared to be in bloom. On closer look the leaves had turned yellow and created a fair imitation of springtime. Any chance that's what you saw too?
nope..I thought the same at first, but I was in bumper to bumper traffic and there were definitely blooms. They may not have been in full bloom, but blooms none the less.
Wow! I wonder if they will be sparse in the spring.
I bet they will. seems like they waste their energy when they get mixed up like this.
for those of you who don't frequent the Artisans forum, I am going to shamelessly post this link...I have dug up more old watercolors, if you are interested

I love your work Grams - I have seen some of what you've posted in the past. Does this mean you are getting the bug to pick up the brush and do some more painting???
thanks Anita. these are all old ones, too. but, yeah, I'd really like to get the brushes out. maybe over the winter after the holidays.
Beautiful gram! Its nice hangin' out here among the gifted & talented.
thanks, Dave. maybe if I tell everyone I'm going to paint again, I'll actually do it. it's really nice to have the one over the mantel. I catch DH staring at it and it makes me feel really good...he's my biggest fan. what more could you ask for?
hi everyone... I have missed you guys... Anita it was so warm today I cleaned and planted a mini rose climber... I figured that if I can't have any more flowers at least I can start all the beds I am going to need... I am being lazy and just leaving all the leaves where the beds are going to be so it kills the grass and I have to just add good soil next year... I am putting all the marigold roots and some other herbs I have... I am going to add some sand and good soil and let winter come... maybe it is a good thing... maybe is really a dumb thing but I am going to try... the grass is dead in some spots anyway!
atta girl Kassia. My plans include lots of painting this weekend. The living room and kitchen. Oh joy....
Gram, along the lines of "best fan" or just sharing the good feeling:
My 14 year old daughter came home from the library excited to show me a book she took out. It was The Wizard of Oz, which I had read to her when she was little, along with the 12 sequals L.Frank Baum wrote.
She decided we would reread the book but this time she would read it to me! Could anything be sweeter?
Awwww......that's so nice, Dave. Were there a couple of tears pushing against good-ol'-dad's eyeballs? ANOTHER nice story from you to begin my day! (See daily musings)
I was vaklempt (sp?)
Dave, that has got to be one of the nicest things to ever come out of a 14 year old kid. (you don't read/write yiddish?)
No Gram. Maybe someone from Long Island could help me out.
Dave, you should record this ... it's priceless... and she is 14!!!
I know. I'm very lucky. She certainly has her typical adolescent moments complete with mood swings, but often she comes back to us after one of her meltdowns to apologize. She is a good kid.
you and your wife must be doing something right!!!!
Thank you Kassia. We enjoy parenting but we get more tired than we used to (I'm 52). Many of you have heard this before, we have a unique group of kids we have parented. Their ages are 33, 23, 14 & 7.
Dave
wow... that's a good mix... your life is never bored... the good thing is that you have tons of experience... but I hear you!... age is a funny thing...
What a wonderful memory your daughter just created for you Dave!
Thanks Anita. She is a wonderful human being.
