Fresh Pot of Coffee!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

This is just too weird....I made a huge pot of chilli this morning and a dozen corn muffins for the hunters when they got home. Then I went Christmas shopping, and even bought myself an early present.
Lobster !(No plant today, I was hungry, didn't get any chilli.)

Dave, ONLY 12? Nice bed.

Noodles?? Not in chili! Puh-lease! And of course, tomatoes! Al, come on over.

You too, pixie! I suppose they ate all the muffins too? No problem. Got some fresh seeded rye gram's picking up.

Did I mention I made a big pot of czarnina couple weeks ago? Got some in the freezer. Now, if that's not enough to entice company, I don't know what is!

Dave? You in? Anita? Everybody?

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Al, Does their chili have peppers in it?
I never heard of chili with noodles and no tomatoes! I think that is a casserole!

Nancy, I don't know what czarnina but it sounds good & I'm coming! Is this what used to be fed to the czars?

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Hey Al! My age group just caught up to yours on the weekly poll!! Woo Hoo!!

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Dave - you're in that exclusive 51-53 catagory aren't you - put yourself in the freezer I'll catch up to you.

My wife's chili is made out of tomato soup and noodles ;( I don't put peppers in mine, I do use the spicy chili beans and chili powder for the spice.

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Sorry, Dave. If you're not Polish, I can't tell you what czarnina is. You wouldn't understand. You might like it, though. Nuff said.

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

I raked up leaves and green tomatoes. I dug a hole in my front yard mountain (it is that load of humus I bought last May covering last years compost pile that I drug out to the front yard) to bury the leaves and the green tomatoes in and didn't have a chance to cover them up - but I will tomorrow. Before anyone says anything about canning those green tomatoes - I spent the entire day last Sunday on my feet doing stuff with green tomatoes - green tomato relish, green tomato pie, green tomato casserole and spiced green tomatoes. I have gallons of green tomato relish already canned and there is yet anouth mound for those @#$# green tomatoes waiting for me to chop them up and make relish out of them. FYI - I threw out the pie and the casserole after one piece of each and I think the spiced green tomatoes will hit the compost pile as well - I just haven't had enough nerve to even try them.

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

Al, I don't want to hurt Mrs BigCity's feelings. she can call it chili, but it ain't chili. I'm sure it tastes good...sounds good to me. just ain't chili. chili doesn't have to have beans, but it does have to have tomatoes. there have to be some rules in the world and that's one of them. if someone wanders over here from the southwest forum, there could be heart failure if they read that LOL

Nancy, I have dust blinders...don't see the stuff. Not even convinced it really exists. I'm not Polish, but I've lived in buffalo all my life. I might like czarnina if I didn't know what it was, too. nuff said.

My mother used to make jelly out of green tomatoes. it was awful. DH does like them fried, though. yankee, it's too bad you did all that work and then had to throw it out.

nap ~ My duck's name was Fuzzy Wuzzy he never made it into the pot but the mailman threatened to make czarina with him! (he bit the mailmans a _ _ once or twice) LOL

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

but Fuzzy Wuzzy was a bear!

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

and Fuzzy Wuzzy had no tail...

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Fuzzy Wuzzy was supposed to be one of those dyed chickens at Easter time where you buy a pink or purple chick and then they usually died because they were dyed to begin with. Well my brother bought me one at Easter and the farmer must of not noticed it wasn't a chicken egg, but a duck egg. My Mom was all set to console me when the chick died...as they had in the past, but this one didn't die. It just keep growing, bigger and bigger. By the time summer rolled around he was 2ft tall and the neighbors garden and the mailman where his favorite past times. Sept. rolled around and we got a note in our mail box that he (the mailman) would not deliver our mail until the duck was locked up or gone. After 2 weeks of Dad having to make a special trip to the post office to get our mail, he said Fuzzy had to go. I sent him to live on my SIL parents farm where he lived for the next 7 years. My Mother forbid my brothers to buy me any more dyed chicks for Easter. So he was going to buy me a monkey but thats another story! LOL

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Was there an APB put out for a giant pink or purple duck attacking public servants!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Nope...the APB was for a white suspect with big orange feet. I believe it was called "Big Bird Alert"

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

could have been Al with orange flip-flops

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Al, Its tomato soup with noodles!
Is czarnina like souffrette (spelling?)? Does it involve organ meats?

Fuzzy wuzzy had no hair--he had down.

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

fuzzy wuzzy wasn't fuzzy, was he?

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

hi everyone... I am back... had a fabulous time at the Cape... gorgeous view...
I am not getting old... I am old already... lol... I feel my age...

I washed all the gladiolas and another plant I have no idea what it is... I think they are irisis... but I have no clue...

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

nope not fuzzy...flat. he was run over by a tractor at the farm 7 years latter. (He was old and fat at this point no longer faster than the tractor.)

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

Hi, Kass. welcome back. we've just been silly while you were gone.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Cape(Fear?) - you weren't on a house boat were you?

Fuzzy - I guess you never hear the tractor coming with your name on it.

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

remember the tractor incident on Seinfeld?

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Hi Kassia!
Gram, I don't remember that one. Just resaw the one about Jerry talking dirty. What a show that was!

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

Jerry overheard his girlfriend talking about the tractor incident and Kramer was convinced that she'd lost her thumbs in a tractor accident and had her big toes grafted on...

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Oh yeah...

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

I don't remember that one, but Master of My Domain was a hoot and a half!

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

And I always liked Elaine's dancing.

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

love both of those. I like Julia Louis-Dreyfuss new show, too.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Thats on tonight...I watch it every Monday night along with 2 and a half Men. It's my Monday night laugh!

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

2 and a half men is one of my favorite shows. I just love that kid. there isn't much on TV that I care about any more, but that's always good.

I'm sitting here waiting for it to get light out. I figure if I time it right I can get a few daffodils planted before I have to start work at 7:30.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

It's not raining there? It is here which makes for a dark morning. I'm w/you i love 2 and half men...I like the kid but I love Berta the house keeper. You never know what's gonna come out of her mouth!!
I'm actually browsing through the Lily Auction...but under $7 or less. See...i'm trying to be good! LOL

I actually have an Iris that is about ready to bloom!! Imagine that!

I have DVR which is an option with my cablevision subscription. It is a digit video recorder and is basically like Tivo and tapes your shows onto a little hard drive in the cable box. I love it! I get to tape all my shows and only the first run - no reruns!!! I hate commercials and this DVR saves my sanity. I also only have to set it once and I never have to forget to tape a show! I love it! My favorites this year are Boston Legal, Desperate Housewives, Lost, Brothers & Sisters, The View, the CSI's, Grey's Anatomy, Two and a Half Men and the Stargate series on the SciFi Channel. I tell you - DVR is great as I never really watched TV series, because I would miss an episode and then wouldn't want to watch after that as I felt I missed out on something.

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

No rain here, pixie. It's a gorgeous day.

Anita, DVR here, too. I love it. if there are 2 shows you like on at the same time you don't have to choose. I record some of the garden & cooking shows on HGTV on the weekends when I'm too busy for TV, too.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Anita ~ My DH watch's Stargate series, and i'm a fan of any CSI but love the one w/Grisim (sp) best. I am also an addict of Court TV, and any show with paranormal themes. I like Ghost Hunters as they try to debunk, not just prove it. Me thinks it would be a bad idea to have DVR....DH would never get anything done.

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

...and while you are recording two, you can watch one you recorded previously!!

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

ahhh...I forgot about Ghost Hunters!!! I love that show. They just recently had a 6 hour special on Halloween. I used to love Most Haunted [Travel Channel], but I dicovered that they fake everything!! I was so disappointed when I found that out.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

You sound just like me! it made me soooo mad I refused to watch anymore. I tried to watch the 6 hr. one it was live, but it started at 11pm...made it to 11:45 LOL

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

thanks to DVR - I got to watch it. It was slow and they didn't get alot of activity. This week they will show the findings. I am curious to see what they caught on video and recordings

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

So I walked out back at work the other day and saw this. We had discussed this some last winter. Who was I expecting to see and this desk and what would they say for 200 points.

Hi, no I was at Cape Cod... not in a boat but in a house by a lake... oh the view... I can just imagine what it looks when all the flowers are not sleeping...

it's hard for me to follow all that is going on... you guys are way too funny!!! ... but i trully enjoy all the postings... I have been busy cleaning up yesterday as much as I could... and I almost cryed when I saw all my annuals really dead... I added some leaves my compost pile (I confess that I don't like the smell !!! so I may just pile leaves and use it next year and so my pile will be leaves a year old only...)

Is that Matt's Amarillos desk???
Maybe that desk is the "not so easy to find Complaint Depto of the Mass Turnpike Depto???"
