Marie, dh has been teasing me for years that he was going to get me a headlamp - now I can tell him there's a club for such folks as I - lol!!!

West Central, WI(Zone 4a)

We don't pay dues or anything......just keep passing on where we bought them and how much we paid for them. I bought my Energizer brand at Menards.

Whidbey Island, WA(Zone 7a)

Know of any other places? We don't have Menards around here. guess I could google it!

Yeah, I must be a lampless headlamper..I need a headlamp too, esp. after I planted my newly acquired Japanese Maple by moonlight a few weeks ago, of course prior to the ice and snow storms! ;0)

LOL yall are too funny!!! Lin I'll keep all of yall in my prayers that yall stay just as hooked as you already are. People like us is what keeps the world safe. We're doing them a service of keeping global warming to a minimum.

My guess would be that any of the big box stores would have them in the flashlight section. (Home Depot, Lowes, Wal-Mart, etc.) I can't remember how much I paid for mine, but I'm thinking it was around $12.)

I forgot to say;
In a storm, when I don't have a proper support for my old brugmansia, I will sit next to her and hold her tight until the winds pass.
Love through thick and thin...

This is her... my baby that is started from a cutting as small as my pinkie

I'm deliriously happy to find my "people"! No one in my "real life" gives a hoot about gardening so it's really nice to meet others who share my addiction. When DH first met me (9 1/2 yrs ago), I was a total foodie. Completely and utterly obsessed with cooking, gadgets, cookbooks, Food Network, etc. Also had a lesser (but still substantial) addiction to various crafts. And then, we got married and had kids. Out went gourmet cuisine, in came hot dogs and potato salad. Crafts also went by the wayside because there was no place to keep the supplies. When we bought our house 4 yrs ago (we had been living in an apt), I noticed that the shrubs in the front were ugly and there were some prickly shrubs in the backyard (not safe for curious little boys). I innocently started to do some reading on gardening, and then WHAM!!! Another addiction struck! I've been hooked ever since and loving it! My DH complained yesterday that I am really just a 5 y.o. little girl (trapped in a 34 y.o.'s body) that likes to play in the dirt. And you know what I say--What's wrong with that? ;-) Tamara

My mom says it doesn't hurt to be crazy. I add; yes it does without gloves! (splinters!!!!!!!)

They all think I am obsessed with my plants, and they're right!!

Another one, when I work on my flowerbeds, I dress as colourful as I can, (DH: you joining the circus now? LOL)
because, how can I expect my flowers to put on a colourshow for me if I don't return the favour?!

When I started gardening In CA, I had many flowers. My DS complained I wasn't growing anything he could eat. So, I started with one fruit tree, realised it wouldn't bear fruit unless I got another one, and BOOM, there it was, the new addiction. 32 fruit trees later my DH complaints the grass dissapeared! Well, can't have it all!!!

West Central, WI(Zone 4a)

Grass is so over-rated.

Marin, CA(Zone 9b)

Unless you are a cow and your foodsupply relies on it, I agree!!!

Diiiirrrrt glorious dirt! ..."does the body good!" ;0)

Marin, CA(Zone 9b)

hello, my name is christie, I am a plant-o-holic, and today I will not plant
(but I will replant)

West Central, WI(Zone 4a)

Easy for you to say....your ground isn't frozen. For us....there is always winter sowing. I'm waiting for my bags of soil to thaw out so that I can get started. (I'm always behind.) You'd be surprised how long it takes for a bag of dirt to thaw........

Lumberton, TX(Zone 8b)

You can get those headlamps at Academy.

Anyone ELSE already started seeds in peat pots? I have tomatoes peeking up, and about 45 herbs newly planted. Hopefully I didn't do it too early.

I COULDN'T HELP MYSELF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Marin, CA(Zone 9b)

I have cucomber seeds going, bell peppers, one mandarin seed, one appleseed and 6 brugmansia cuttings. all neatly in the diningroom. Isn't that where all seeds start their life?

Lumberton, TX(Zone 8b)

Addict! Exhibiting brug-seeking behavior!

The Woodlands, TX(Zone 9a)

Well, one bright spot for you northerners is that you get a break. And that's not all bad! But I do have to admit that I like it better this way. Gives me an excuse /reason to go outside on the beautiful days.

Marin, CA(Zone 9b)

Brigidlily, I sent all the brugcuttings to DG members. Does that work in my favour?

Lumberton, TX(Zone 8b)

NO! It makes you an enabler.

You can't win. Just give up, and go ahead and garden for the rest of your days.

ceejay, I agree. At least our winter is broken up with bits of spring before summer starts its brutal 8-month rage.

The Woodlands, TX(Zone 9a)

Eight!! I count five (May through September)...October can have its moments....Oh! (whispered - Are you trying to scare off folks that might be thinking of moving here?)

Painesville, OH(Zone 5b)

I started some Bibb lettuce and pansies indoors. I winter-sowed pansies, Sweet William, 'Origami Red & White' columbine, and wild columbine. I still have several more seeds to start (I am doing WS, baggie method, and peat pots under lights and keeping track of everything---I'm a full-fledged member of the "paralysis from analyis" club!!!). I have it in my day planner when everything needs to be started. I always start too soon and end up with really leggy seedlings, so this year, I am going to make myself wait. I'm excited that I don't have too long to wait before starting the begonia and datura seeds. The T&M website said that the begonia seeds ( http://seeds.thompson-morgan.com/us/en/product/7595/1 ) are "challenging" to germinate so I'm nervous to see if I can pull it off. I'm praying the datura does well...I've never grown it before, but it's so pretty ('Double Blackcurrant Swirl'). It's not hardy here in Ohio, but if it does well, I'll overwinter it if need be. Tamara

Hello. I am a plant-a-holic.

I've started T&M begonia seeds - I love their Tenella Rose begonia but I didn't see it this year.
I had to go through many seed packs to get three plants. I'm a seed-a-holic too. Isn't it wonderful
to find a bunch of regular folks that have normal interests here?

I keep ordering more seeds than I could ever possibly start & grow and don't even talk about
possibly planting! Thank goodness I joined a few plant societies so I have places to donate
the extras! i just LOVE checking every morning to see what new ones have germinated.

Yep ... I am a plant-a-holic. LOL

Well, I was outside in 45 degree weather pulling weeds - so I guess I qualify for sure in this group!

West Central, WI(Zone 4a)

We welcome you with dirty, open arms. (((Murmur))) You can feel safe with us my friend.

Ditto. I've had had bursitis so bad in my hip taht I still haven't taken my Christmas tree down. But I ws out, sitting in the grass, weeding last week. LOL!

Yesterday before I went to see the doc with my sprained ankle (yeah, I'm a mess...) I planted some brug cuttings I got in the mail. And abut once very three days I go through all the seeds in my 'stash' to see what I want to start first. I keep shuffling them.....

somewhere, PA

Ahhhhh... its wonderful to know that there are normal folks here.

I was out weeding a few weeks ago too. I'm amazed at how many weeds
sneaked into my gardens since fall.

I hope the bursitis, sprained ankle and assorted ailments clear up soon!

How many of you guys go to work with green & brown stained hands 'cause
you see weeds that just have to be pulled as you walk to the car or get your
work clothes dirty 'cause you forget to change after work when you see some-
thing that needs to be done in the garden? LOL

Just noticed this thread. Guess I'm going to have to join. Now that I'm retired I'm spending more and more time on DG. Since I live alone, there is no one around here I can go on endlessly about my garden. Friends and family don't want to hear about different varieties of lettuce and seed/plant catalogs. (But they sure don't mind a delivery of fresh produce and glorious flowers.) But here on DG there are an abundance of GARDENERS! No matter what I want to discuss or comment on, there are willing souls to join in. I can benefit from and enjoy the endless experience, expertise and photos of my gardening friends around the globe. So in my case, being addicted to DG is a good thing. :-)

roseone33......Great To Meet You!! Yeah isn't it nice to carry on about plants and not have peoples eyes glaze over? I have learned so much since joining DG, and met some great friends. And you know what? We can talk gardening forever.....and still not get finished. Even though I've only met in person a few of the DGers that I meet here everyday, I feel like I know them, and so enjoy being able to chat about not only their gardens but everything else as well. So glad to hear that you're joining.

Very nice photo, Roseone33!

(Zone 6a)

Rose33, Good to meet you! I know just what you mean....my family also gets tired of me endlessly going on about my seeds and plants and when is the weather going to warm up? They listen, but alot of the time they are not enthused! :D
Like Marie siad, it's so great to talk endlessly about gardening and not have peoples eyes glaze over!
I've been a member here for almost a year now and I don't know how I lived without it.........gardening in silence.....
