I only recognize a few words, but get the gist!!!!!

DFW area, TX(Zone 7b)

Murmur, she called me an EVIL woman, and said "shame on you."

I ain't talkin' to her any more.

Whidbey Island, WA(Zone 7a)

Hard to believe such a lovely Southern Belle could be so mean!!!

DFW area, TX(Zone 7b)

I don't know what's going on out there tonight, but I suspect
a skunk. Phew - do I ever !!! The dogs were going nuts, so
I went to look, and when I opened the back door there was the
most foul smell in the air.

I suspect one of the neighbor's cats got sprayed 'cause they
come over here at night to drink from the bird bath. Poor kitty.

DFW area, TX(Zone 7b)

Yeah, Murmur. When they say "steel magnolia," they're
talking about their hearts. :o) Of course, like with any
rule, there are exceptions - she not being one of them. :o)

Whidbey Island, WA(Zone 7a)

LOL. And like I said on that other thread, nitey nite. This time for sure.

Aurora, CO(Zone 5a)

I actually understood the first sentence! And I've never studied French.

Headland, AL(Zone 8a)

Not evil...just very bad. And, like Jessica Rabbit, you aren't really bad, you're just drawn that way...LOL!

Darn cat woke me up playing chase with a catnip mouse acrose the foot of the bed. Argh! Think I'm gonna go read the paper and then try to go back to sleep. Bad kitty, bad! For shame! Woops, now it is time for a rousing game of kitty chase. If I had the energy, I'd do the play by play..."Meezer is rounding the corner with Hobie bringing up the rear, now Hobie is coming up alongside the Meeze, it is a neck in neck race...it's Meezer, no Hobie, now Meezer, now Hobie, and Lucy is coming up along the inside fast....It's going to be a photo finish ladies and gentlemen"

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Yee Hawwww!! We had kitty races last night too, Mouse in the house, four cats running around like crazed crackheads, chased it down. DH put on big heavy gloves in case it attacked him and took it out for it's final destination. Now I suppose I'll be treating for fleas again for three months oh crap! Olivia the monster killer was the head huntress, she's been practicing for months.

Hey! I will be away for a week, but the house won't be empty! My DH isn't going on this trip with me.

So, Beware .... anyone trying to remove my garden, or plants therein, will do so at their own risk! :)

I've given my hubby explicit instructions to "plant" any trespassers! LOL

BamaBelle & Meezers:
Y'all have cats too?! I have four, and sure wish they were as active as yours .... one is an old girl, two are fat and lazy! But, the fourth loves to chase little lizards ..... I'm always rescuing one of those little critters from her mouth! Sometimes, less a tail, but at least it lives to eat bugs another day!

Hobie Cat-Lynx Point/Persian-7 yrs old
Julius Meezer-Applehead Chocolate Point Siamese-6 yrs old
Lucy Furr-Brown Tabby-3 yrs old

The Woodlands, TX(Zone 9a)

I just LOVE those names!!!! I wish I could rename mine - with your help!

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Ya.I'm jealous of her creativity too, mine are all so ordinary, Mini, Souky, Sammi and Olivia. But then, I have other talents which I expect to discover any day now.

Whidbey Island, WA(Zone 7a)

And I have Bigfoot, Margie, and Friday. And I've given up on expecting any talents - I'm just happy to be muddling along still!!!!

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Mine is Bazha, short for Bazharatta from a book I was reading when she came around. Turns out Bazharatta was a Terrorist. NEVER name a cat after a Terrorist!

The Woodlands, TX(Zone 9a)

LOL!!!!

Patchouli (call him Patchoo), Jasmine (Jazzcat), and Sunday (Monster or NO!)....
What's talents?

DFW area, TX(Zone 7b)

Good morning, all. It rained all night, it poured.
I'm so happy.

Darius, you are a real contradiction. You've a LADY, with a
man's name, and have a sweet kitty cat named for a terrorist.
What next? Are you named for King Darius, the emperor who
conquered Babylon? Or are you named for one of the pilots who
first flew across the atlantic at the time of Lindberg?

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Mahnot, Darius is an old Greek derivation of a Sanscrit word that means "Of The Mountains". I took it (legally) when I was 44 and got my contractor's license because no one would talk building to a woman in that small town. It served me well as I got into Sales and Marketing as people recognized it even if they didn't remember it. I'd like to change it back, but no $$$.

DFW area, TX(Zone 7b)

Well, Darius, I see that you're clever too. Good for you - I'm glad
it worked. If you can't change it back, you could always become
Darling Darius, DD for short, and that might make you feel better, no?

Darius, that's a good one! It's a shame some narrow folks can be so short- sighted! But you did select a mighty and strong name to represent you! ;0)

Amelia Island, FL(Zone 9a)

Okay - I'm playing catch up. Cable was down yesterday - ALL day.....
Meezers - that is the funniest story - had to share with my DH!! LOL!
Lin - we promsie to take verrrrrry good care of your plants while your gone!!! Hey, has anyone seen my black sweat pants??
Lin and BamaBelle - we have 5 cats and 1 dog! The cats are Baxter (Baxturd - he has issues), Isaboo (Boo), Callie, Soxy, Sylvester and our BT is Prissy. The catss all think Prissy is the funniest looking cat they've ever seen! Prissy gives them all baths!
Darius! That's hysterical - Bazha - probably aptly named as well! Boo thinks she's the biggest and baddest, she only weighs 8lbs!

I haven't been able to get out in the dirt today....I'm so bummed...

Aurora, CO(Zone 5a)

My cats are Dusty, 10, grey Maine Coon with a tabby face
Cocoa, 3, Lynx point Ragdoll or tabby/Ragdoll mix, cornflower blue eyes
Patches, 2, Ragdoll with cross-eyed blue eyes
Piper, 1, Classic shorthair black cat with white blaze at throat
Nike, 1, Piper's sister, smaller black cat without the blaze.

It's really crazy when you get three or more cats chasing each other, all in a single line, throughout the house. They really like the fact that they have lots of room and stairs to boot. One time I was in the bathroom, and I saw this Ragdoll blur zip fast, followed by a grey blur. They ran into the bedroom, whirled around, and chased past the bathroom and downstairs again, but THIS time it was a Ragdoll blur (all this might have been involuntary on Patches' part), a big grey blur, AND a Ragdoll/tabby blur in hot pursuit.

My guess is that Dusty started chasing Patches, who took off running, then when they got to the bedroom and turned around, Cocoa decided to join the race just for the heck of it.

Who needs video?

We had a successful hunt at my place this morning. Zephyr came zooming into the bathroom as I was
getting out of the shower. She'd hunted down a moth! oooo... such a hunter. I managed to knock it to
the floor & she took it from there.

Zephyr - Long haired fuzzy kitty
Scirocco - Her long haired fuzzy sister
Fred (Mertz) - Grey tiger short haired domestic
Rosie - Queen Bee, maybe partly maine coon.
Tuxedo Cat - Grey tuxedo ferral that has adopted us. (Won't talk to me after I had him fixed a couple
weeks ago.)

Bud's offical name is Mao Tse Tung (Mousy Tongue) But nobody ever calls him that. Hobie's official name is Ho Chi Minh and before she was fixed we called her L'il Ho. Now we call her Hobie Cat. My mom used to have a blue Persian named Cat Ballou (Cat Blue) and when I was a kid, we had a black long hair named McBeth. I've always loved puns for pet names. I even had names for the feral cats:

DeBalzac-Siamese who was very 'gifted'
Casper-white short hair
Armani-Tuxedo cat
MiniMani-Armani's kitten who was a tuxedo cat
Puff-Armani's other kitty who was fluffy and gray and looked like a little puff of smoke
Rorschack-solid black so I named if after the guy who created the famous inkblot test...but DH could never rememebr the name (even though he is in Iducstrial psychologist!) so we changed his name to Inky
Bernie-looked like he had been in a fire so I named him Burn-ey..turned out the hair loss was from stress and when SHE got healthy again, her hair grew in and she went into heat and became Bernice, but was still Bernie for short.

Darius, your story brings back memories. When I had my first job, they really descrimnated against women for promotions. So, when someone in the home office made a typo and put me into the computer as 'Marice', then they 'corrected' it and put it in as 'Marice', I didn't correct it. I was the youngest woman in the history of the company to be promoted to a management position.

Love the pet names, very cute. All of mine have nicknames - they know if I use their "real" name they're in trouble! Kind of like when we we're children!
My hubby just told me that I have a problem and I need therapy. He left about 3 hours ago while I was on DG. I did other stuff, laundry, DG, cleaned the kitchen, DG, checked on my plants, DG. I was on DG when he returned home. He just stood there and looked at me and said "Oooooooh look at her, still on the computer with the plant people. You, my dear, have a problem. As soon as you admit it, you can be cured."
I don't have a problem. It's not my problem that he has a problem with me and DG. He needs to deal with his problem! I feel better now!
Sharon

Marcie - I need your help with the names! We're not so hot at it.
One ferral really looked chewed up by life. I called him a sad sack and
it stuck as Zack. And another had a very large head. I didn't know that's
how mature tom cat's looked so I called him Pumpkin Head.

Sharon - you need to get that man into therapy! He sure does need
to deal with that DG problem of his.

Tam

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

My DH often leaves in the morning with me sitting at the computer and comes home and finds me in the same place, the only difference being the change of attire. So, does DH think that the brownies show up and do the laundry, the cooking, the cleaning, the shopping, the blah blah blah, or does he have to do it? Yes, he needs therapy, the no cleaning cooking laundry kind of therapy so he can see what it's like for it to be undone. LOL Mine knows better than to even say anything about it.

Prior to moving into management in my company, I only used my first initials in correspondence, etc. Saved a lot of questions from outside folks who didn't think "girls" could do the kind of work I was doing. Not too surprisingly, most of the questions about competence of female employees came from attorneys! I was the first woman in management in my division, and in the department, but not the first in the company.

Olivia, at three pounds doesn't hesitate to tackle Sammie, nine pounds, and knock him right over. Good that he's so easygoing, and loves her.

The Woodlands, TX(Zone 9a)

White_Hydrangea - My two older kitties (9) are Ragdolls also. Patchoo is a Seal Point, mitted, and Jazzcat is a Blue Bicolor. Sunday is a black kitty we rescued this summer. She was "tutored" yesterday, and doesn't seem to notice it.

Headland, AL(Zone 8a)

Tammy, sounds to me like you do really well with pet names...it is the poeple aroudn you who change them (like my own DH) who have the rpoblem! LOL! Sad Sack and Pumpkin Head are great names.

Meezers, I tried going on strike with my first husband. It didn't work....just made him meaner than ever. Eventually I just left him. Let him clean up after himself...till he could find another victim. The irony is, after being a control freak and absuive sonuvagun for 18 years, he is now the one who is being 'whipped' by wife #5. What goes around comes around...LOL!

Well, I'm gonna go dig in the dirt for a while. Then I'll probably go back to bed.

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Yup, Bama, that is so true. Good friend of mine was married to a control freak, abusive (He broke her arm once) and after she divorced him, he remarried. Oh boy, did he pick a winner. She goes into a screaming fit if he even talks with his ex on the phone about their kids. I love it!!

DFW area, TX(Zone 7b)

Good morning, ladies and gentlemen.

We had this shaggy little dog that we got at the pound -
part sheepdog, part terrier. Anyway, the poor thing couldn't
see a thing, the eyes were always covered with hair hanging
down over them. I had to keep it clipped so the poor thing
could see, and when I clipped it, she looked just like my
obstetrician - BIG bushy grey eyebrows - so we named her
Seymour in his honor. Just set myself up for years of having
to explain why my girlie dog had a fella's name.

She was my very first dog - at age 28 - and I firmly believe that
every child needs a dog. We had always lived in apartments
when I grew up and couldn't even have a cat, so maybe that
explains why I always have several. I'll take 2 of those, 3 of these,
etc... At one time, my kids had 2 dogs, 2 cats, a blue budgie, and
a fish tank. Love those critters.

Personally, I've always wanted a donkey.

Headland, AL(Zone 8a)

Mahnot, you should come live around here. Almost every horse pasture also contains a donkey or a mule. I couldn't understand it at first...I mean I can understand that peopel used to plow with mules. But why do they keep them now? Turns out there is some sort of competion with them where they pull heavy things. Sort of like a tractor pull, but with animals. Go figure...

Mahnot,
when I lived down in the heart of the Ozarks, our best friend raised mules. He was so proud of those mules, and rode them in every parade around.

He was the epitomy of everybodys idea of an "OLe Missouri Hillbilly"-lived way back in the sticks in an old shack, no plumbing whatso ever, snaggle toothed, coarse talking, etc, etc- but above all, he had a heart bigger than Texas. I loved that man, and his wife was an absolute jewel. I miss them so much.

He had a herd of mules that he babied, and wouldn't have a horse if you gave it to him. What a guy.

Deanna

DFW area, TX(Zone 7b)

Deanna, he sounds like a treasure.
I've read that mules are extremely smart - much smarter
than horses - and that's why they make such great pack
animals.

If I remember correctly, they said that a horse will take off
and run, but a mule will carefully place every hoof and think
before they place the next one.

Hey - I love horses - nobody jump on me - I'm a fragile little
old lady who loves to garden and has the sweetest smile
you ever saw.

Whidbey Island, WA(Zone 7a)

A fragile little old lady? Mahnot? HA!!! You're Wonder Woman, at the very least (but you probably do have the sweetest smile we ever saw!!!).

DFW area, TX(Zone 7b)

Murmur, you're a trouble maker.

Nice to see you finally got out of bed. :o)

Whidbey Island, WA(Zone 7a)

LOL - yeah, I just laid around all day watching soap operas and eating bon bon's.

DFW area, TX(Zone 7b)

I'm so proud of you !!!

Headland, AL(Zone 8a)

Me too. It was my evil twin that did all that gardening and cooking....and it is my evil twin that can't sleep and is up posting on DG while I am sleeping like a baby in preparation for yet another darned doctor's appointment tomorrow.

At least this one will be a piece of cake. He is an internist and he is just a half a mile up the road. He will be the one who coordiantes with all the other 'ists' and funnels all the info back up the chain and then they funnel it back down the chain so I am not running willy nilly back and forth all the time. In all my years fighting these conglomeration of illnesses, this is the first time I have had doctors who actually KNOW each other and are used to working together on complicated cases. I'm flabbergasted. I don't know how to act. And, so far, I like all of them. I've either died and gone to heaven, or I am where I ought to be. Or some combination thereof. I'm sure my parents would say I was in heaven AND I'm where I should have been all along if they were still here.

BamaBelle, LOL! You know when one is in the garden, one is in heaven. Even when one is toiling, heaven is the desired outcome! ;0)
