New Mexico?
Where Am I? - A Fun Game (I hope)
We have juniper, pine, aspen, and cottonwood. there's a building that looks like a picnic shelter next to the road in the lower left. unless that's a mining operation. And the white thing is some kind of chute?
there's red rock, too.
Not UT or WY. Yes, NM. Yes to picnic shelter, no to chute.
Is it near Texas? on the Pecos River?
Not all that near TX, and not the Pecos River.
Is it the Canadian River?
No, not that one
Somewhere along the Gila north of Silver City?
You got it! Gila River at Gila Cliff Dwellings.
Oh wow... I got it! I've been along the river, but never made it to the Cliff Dwellings the road had washed out just prior to my being in the area.
DH says South Dakota.
No, not even close.
I thought it looked like California
Yes, it is CA.
And that'd be the ocean out there in the haze? or the desert?
oops that's two questions.
Not ocean or desert.
How about Lost Hills?
It's time for a hint. It is in Ventura County.
Is it close to Valle Vista?
I can't find that in Ventura County.
Hmmm....I'll have to look at my atlas better.
Up where Wheeler canyon and Adams Canyon come together?
No, not quite that far north, but looking at the topo map, it looks like it is probably similar topography.
Hokay, I'll guess in close - Aliso?
No. I was probably within a couple hundred yards of Los Angeles County when I took the picture.
Hahaha like I been there??? but I'll peruse the map again
I took rte 33 up over the mtns outta Ojai once... is it up that road and off into the nat forest?
Is it Lopez Canyon?
Not near Ojai or Los Padres National Forest. Not Lopez Canyon.
It's in here. http://www.topozone.com/map.asp?lat=34.18617&lon=-118.76726&s=500&size=l&u=4&datum=nad27&layer=DRG
Hey, I found a Long Dave Canyon with NF campsites - looks like a rough road in there
Okay, I was way off in the wrong hills. I'm gonna pick Tapo Canyon - up outta Simi Valley hee hee I just found my California Topo Atlas
it indicates a mine up there. made it sound interesting.

No, not there. (I don't know what the mine would be but my guess is that it is just gravel. I've never heard of any minerals around here. It definitely wouldn't be gold, that's for sure.)
Is it.....Maybe.... Bell Canyon?
Bell Canyon?
Edited to say.. LOL We doubled! Ok, I'll change my guess to Las Viegenes (I think that's what that said..) Canyon

Yes, it is Las Virgenes! (Actually, it is East Las Virgenes Canyon, but Las Virgenes is close enough.)
In the Humboldt Redwoods? along route 101 north of Garberville? I remember a place called Big Tree along there, but not so much the smaller treees around it.
Or, as I don't think it snows there these might be big old Douglas fir in Yosemite....
Or Sequoias, in Kings canyon
Douglas fir somewhere in Oregon
I was thinking the Redwoods too, but didn't know if it snowed there. If this is supposed to be easy, I'll feel really silly for getting this wrong. LOL
