Where Am I? - A Fun Game (I hope)

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

Thanks, Blooms. I've never been up there so I had no idea. :o)

Is this town in Washington?

Peterstown, WV(Zone 6a)

Or maybe Oregon?

I'm sorry, Kelli...I didn't mean to be so nosey. I just have a curious mind. Please Forgive...

L.A. (Canoga Park), CA(Zone 10a)

Pacific coast, not OR or WA.

Music, no problem. I didn't think that was a nosey question. If I ever sound evasive, it's because I don't want to give out too many clues on places that I frequent. I don't want to make the game too easy.

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

Crescent City or Patrick's Point?

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

How 'bout Trinidad?

L.A. (Canoga Park), CA(Zone 10a)

No, further south than all of those.

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

Fort Bragg, or still further south?

L.A. (Canoga Park), CA(Zone 10a)

further south

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

North or South of San Francisco?

L.A. (Canoga Park), CA(Zone 10a)

south of San Francisco

Gamleby, Sweden(Zone 7a)

San Luis Area.............. Shell Beach........Morrow Bay...............Pismo Beach.
If not, more south or north??
Janett

L.A. (Canoga Park), CA(Zone 10a)

North

Gamleby, Sweden(Zone 7a)

Monterey beach, as that one also have volcanic rocks on the beach.
Was it volcanic rocks on the beach in your photo??
Janett

L.A. (Canoga Park), CA(Zone 10a)

No, not Monterey. They rocks are just something sedimentary, maybe some kind of shale, but I don't know.

L.A. (Canoga Park), CA(Zone 10a)

The rocks could be igneous plutonic, but they aren't igneous volcanic. That is, if they were ever molten, they solidified before they reached the surface.

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

Moss Landing, Rio Del Mar, Pescadero?

Peterstown, WV(Zone 6a)

Is it Davenport?

Gamleby, Sweden(Zone 7a)

Kelli, I had the same feeling about your picture as Marylyn had therefore I googled for beaches in California that have volcanic rock. Suprise for me was that between San Fransisco and San Luis more then half of the beaches have volcanic rocks along and on the beach.
Janett

L.A. (Canoga Park), CA(Zone 10a)

No, not Davenport

I'll look in a book I have and see if it says anything about the rocks. It talks about the geology in the area because it is complex and not completely understood. Here is the only close-up picture I have that shows the rock. Most of what you see is small anemones with tiny stones stuck to them but there is some bare rock, which is smooth and not porous.

Kelli, that would be a great biology specimen...

Pescadero?

L.A. (Canoga Park), CA(Zone 10a)

No

The closest guess so far is Morro Bay.

I can't find that geology book. I'll look some more tomorrow. Right now, my games are on t.v.

Peterstown, WV(Zone 6a)

Is it San Simeon?

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

Was my post at 2:47pm Pacific time invisible?

Fremont, CA(Zone 9a)

Fitzgerald Marine Reserve?

L.A. (Canoga Park), CA(Zone 10a)

Was your post invisible? No, but my reply was, and the answer was no, it isn't any of them.

San Simeon? You're getting close.

L.A. (Canoga Park), CA(Zone 10a)

Not Fitzgerald Marine Reserve. It's the name of a town.

Peterstown, WV(Zone 6a)

How about Ragged Point?

Gamleby, Sweden(Zone 7a)

I guess Moss Beach where Fitzgerald Marine Reserve is situated.
Janett

L.A. (Canoga Park), CA(Zone 10a)

The closest guess so far has been San Simeon.

L.A. (Canoga Park), CA(Zone 10a)

About those rocks - the book didn't shed any light on what the bedrock is. It just said that most of the pebbles are chert.

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

Pebble Beach? Has that already been said?

L.A. (Canoga Park), CA(Zone 10a)

No, not Pebble Beach. It's south of Monterey County.

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

Cambria, Harmony, or Cayucos?

L.A. (Canoga Park), CA(Zone 10a)

It's Cambria!

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)
