Well Imust confess... the pictures were posted for a friend here in Brooklyn... I grow on my roof... and have only smaller more exotic ones.. He has a real pile more than me... and I guess he is the only plant nut.. that's nuttier.. as well as devoting more time [ between him and his attendents ..] and considerabilly more money into his.. bet his monthly electric bill in the winterfor plant lights is over $800...alone.. I'll get himto post his own pictures for the contest.but I'm sure he's not interested...so relax. ..
Pictures following showing the level of his obsession. you've seen the 4' x 4' x 4 ' planters [ he has many many dozen of these ...he moves them about with a fork lift.. and crew. and everything goes inside the 160' long 50' wide warehouse on this pier.. this picture is one side of the warehouse... the next will be the other side..of his private collection

Who's got the biggest?
Now THAT is dedication! LOL Awesome!
Wow!
Brian-
Can you post a photo of the Alocasia rubra with the whole plant?
I would love to see the red stems.
Recently I got 'lutea' with the yellow stems and I am in love.
ROX
I'm terrible when I first see one getting ready to bloom I pull it out. I don't want my ears supplying engery to a bloom instead of the leaf. I know I am terrible.
Me too, usually, 2pug, but I just had to see what it looked like. I even let some of my illustris bloom....
My 'Big Dippers' are flowering now.
I personally like the flowers so always leave them on.
Hmmm I have macro pollen................lol
Ric
Ric, we wanna see.. :)
picture please. I think my Big Dipper didn't make it.
Ric, that's beautiful, do you have pollen?
Root, where you been? Somebody was asking about you today. Nice ear you got there.
Root!
Welcome back!
If there's anything you need........don't hesitate!
Ric
ROOTDOC!!!! If you are willing to overwinter, I am willing to share. :)
Thanks Ric! it has rained good here,so I got some time to get in here and do a little reading,I have been missing my time here.
Great ear we are measuring from the tip of one lobe to the bottom tip of the leaf. So furthest distance horizontally on leaf. It can get hard with out help from another person to get a good pic of the whole leaf.
I guess I should start a thread so I am not hyjacking this great thread,LOL!
Glad to see you back.
Well shoot, my ears sure suck.
Rj, yours are incredible. I didn't know you had so many, I am impressed. Of course Brians would be great too! And of course I am rooting for Root also.
BUT................... WOWO Gordon, your friends abode takes the grande prize. Just incredible. Does he live there on the wharf and have that collection as his front yard? I just can't believe how great it looks. Does he do all that just for his own enjoyment or does he rent them out for parties or whatever?
Very nice!!
Wow! I did'nt realize Lime Zinger would get that big! Love it!
If Brian says the one up higher is the largest HE has ever seen, then I bet our chances our slim of every seeing one that big, short of having a conservatory. LOL
Beautiful, mine isn't nearly that size but it is in a pot. Maybe next year I'll try it in the ground.
Well.. times up for me. Had to bring in the EEs...Wed. is suppopsed to hit a low of 40F.
Potted up more than 228 EE (I had help from a friend...lots of Advil and a Jacuzzi).
Most were between 6" and 4 ft but a few were giants.
Here is a picture of me with a A. macrorrhiza and a C. Fontanesii. I am 5'8".
