Who's got the biggest?

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

ROTFLOL That is actually the 3rd wagon I have killed in a year's time! Companies BETTER come up with something that can take Michele and soon! Not a good endorsement when a *girl* can beat up your tools. LOL

Plastic is what got me in this mess. Oh wait, you said plastic surgery............chuckle

Kellyville, OK(Zone 7a)

Badseed, I have been using the same wagon for a couple years, when it started to fall apart like yours, I welded every part that was bolted. Re-inforced some of the week areas. Now it will haul whatever I can load on it. Oh, and I repainted it. John

Athens, OH

Just a reminder.
I think that this contest ends Oct. 31.
The contest (2 categories) is for the largest alocasia and for the largest colocasia.

A separate prize will also be given for the largest from a Zone 7a or lower DGer.

Brian is that correct?

Louisville, KY

Sounds right. One guy I am not sure if he posted here had 10ft tall colocasia esculentas over his house. If hes around would like to hear from him again. My colocasia Gigantea had a leaf at 54 inches long.

I would like to see a count of the people who had leaves 40 inches or more long leaves. I am only looking for them in Colocasias and Alocasias sorry people with the xanthosomas its harder for us up north to compete with them.

Kellyville, OK(Zone 7a)

Brian, I am not sure where you want us to post. My biggest ear grew to 49in, but the only one I had the picture with the measuring tape on it was 47inches.

ROX

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I'll have to pose it somewhere for a pic. It's sitting in my bay window but barely fits. LOL Anyway, with the light coming in behind it, it's impossible to get a good pic there. Going to be gone most of the day but I'll get you a pic later.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Here ya go Rox. It's not a great pic but taking one at night is better than taking one during the day. LOL

Do you bring it outside in the summer?
ROX

Raleigh, NC(Zone 7b)

Hey Michele!! Are you saying that the leaf is 50" long? or the stem/leaf? I have one also ( :) ), thanks to a great DGer, and it looks similar in size to yours, but the leaf is way smaller than 50", although the total height of the plant is probably 50"

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

When I got it, it was about a foot tall. It was a pup off the plant of a DG pal. She actually sent me two and I think the other went to NC. giggle

It sat outside, neglected, in a gallon pot that I put Osmocote in when I potted it. I kept it on the shady side of the house from June until October. The picture is the end result.

Oh, the whole plant is right at 50".

Raleigh, NC(Zone 7b)

they are twins!!! lol separated at birth!! are we going to reunite them?? You have to bring yours when you finally get your butt over here!!

Back to the contest and measurements.....you dodo you, the contest was just for measuring the leaf-not the whole plant!!

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

CONGRATS to Rox, Neal & Ric- I like Neals "ear" pics he posted somewhere on DG earlier this year. Great growing to all!

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I wish I had a Sarian with 50" leaves! LOL

I'm starting a new contest for blond ear growers and tigerlily can't join! LOL

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Chele you win!!!!LOL

Yeah well you'd best be updating your software.
WIN7 has a Cryptology breaker. Makes all the old invisible fonts show up.
After 9/11 it had to be done..............................

(I thought Ah hem..... better than get a room! lol)

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Seems you can't keep anything secret from those ohioans!

Get a room!!!!
Were nature lovers!!!!!!
Ever heard of a haystack!!!!LOL

Raleigh, NC(Zone 7b)

What exactly are you saying Michelle??? lol I am too blonde for the contest-or not blonde enough? Maybe the fact that I don't know is enough of an answer!!!

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

ROTFLOL and I am a hillbilly. ;)

Shoot tigerlily, thought I typed that invisible too. hahahaha

Raleigh, NC(Zone 7b)

lol I am so confused!!! Stop it!!! Ok, now why are you throwing in the hillbilly remark??? Esp since you are not....except if hillybillys can't make invisible ink worth a darn....cause yours sucks... lol

This spring, you are getting the very smallest EE's that I have if I can't be in your contest-if I have to handicap you I will....maybe just Hilo beauties this time-lets see you win with those!!!! lol you are so silly

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

LOL You are going to send me dinky ears?? That is SO not nice! OH, when are you placing orders? You do wanna share right? LOL I may have to put up my other greenhouse and heat it just to be a big fat cheater!!

Raleigh, NC(Zone 7b)

lol can I safely assume that we are done with the "invisible" ink now that we are talking about plants for the spring, my little hillbilly friend???

I am ordering a bunch of different heliconias, gingers, colo's , alo's and bananas and some other stuff as well. Are you serious about wanting some? Let me know. I am going to start dealing with that in about a week

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I mentioned hillbilly in reference to hay and the country song. Now that I own a small farm and come from a long line of farmers, does that not take me back to my roots?? My elders were proud to be briers from a holler in Kentucky. :)

Do you have one of those little credit card swiper things? LOL

Raleigh, NC(Zone 7b)

okkkkk......now I understand the hillbilly reference, and thats nice and all-but that question was like about...oh, say 5 responses ago??? lol I am already thinking about something else ( as a friend of mine always says when I go into a long ( for her) explanation about something).
No I don't have one of those credit card swiper things...lol I am a wholesale grower!!

Whats in YOUR coffee this am Michele? Can't decide if I want some or not...but if not today, then for sure after I am done working.
