Getting out of Limbo.... maybe!

(Zone 8b)

Darius,
I just found this thread. You must be overjoyed that there is somewhere for you to grow your own roots aat last. Doing the Happy Dance for you!

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Thanks. We are estatic!

it's been a busy day. Trying by long distance to get the right electric company, water, telephone, sattelite, a closing attorney, owner's title insurance, a home inspector, a radon test, taking care of ther powder post beetle problem, plus homeowner's insurance and quotes on auto insurance for 2 vehicles. Batting about 40%. Too boot, my sister was busy with a high school chum who now lives in Boise, Idaho so it was all up to me. Still have to make calls about cleaning the duct work and several other minor things. Whew!

Ahhh, but this is all a labor of love!!!!

Citra, FL(Zone 9a)

Congratulations, Darius!
I've been homeless (without home) and know it's a bad place to be. Limbo is almost so..... I still remain nervous about not having some sort of camper to live in, just in case, even though we "own" our home (well, we own the payment!)

I'm really happy for you! Will be watching for trades...and to see what sort of tractor you get with a pto...I need one, too, but so out of my reach for now.

Darius, congrats on the new place! It sounds excellent!

Do you want some of my raspberry plants (originally from you ... they have multiplied and multipled)? I'll be more than happy to bring you some whenever you're ready for them. I might have some hosta to share, too.

Marion is only 54 miles from me .... in fact, I'll be going right by Marion on Thursday, as I head up to Charlottesville area to meet with Carol7.

I'm so happy you found such a great spot!

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Lois, yes I'd love some raspberries, Thanks! Hope to move some earth, and make beds by August. Yes too, on the hosta but probably next year.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Now ya know how we felt the whole time we went through Howie's Johns Hopkins experience. Everyone was right there with us, cheering us on. How can we not be excited when a DG friend enjoys such good things? :)

Mansfield, TX(Zone 8a)

I can't imagine how I missed this thread until now, but just read through it and am SOOO excited for you!!

Update: we closed yesterday on the home equity loan so we will have the cash for this new place on June 1. The home inspection on the new place came back with a few minor faults, and the contract calls for the sellers to pay up to $1,000 which they have elected to credit at closing. I can probably do the repairs cheaper anyway and I'd prefer to be there to oversee the work, so that has turned out fine.

The only remaining things to close are a title search and homeowner's insurance, and then the REAL work can begin!

I am SO anxious to get plants in the ground!!

Harford County, MD(Zone 6b)

Darius, things are certainly falling into place for you and your sister.
I'm very happy for you.

We get off 81 at Marion to go to Todd. How far from the beaten path are you? Ginny

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Ginny, we are 5 miles from 81 at exit 39 just south of Marion. Do you take 16, or 58? We are probably 7 miles south of 16, and then 5 miles off 81.

Northwest, MO(Zone 5a)

Darius, I have been following this thread...it looks like you are going to be out of "Limbo" in just a few day. Best of luck and good wishes to you on this new stage in your life.

Oh my gosh thats great news Darius! Congrats to you both and being able to get your plans underway.

Cincinnati, OH(Zone 6b)

I'll hold off on the Congrats till finally closing but it's looking REAL.............
It is certainly a place worth the long journey you've been on!

Whoops, major set baack. My sister read the fine print on the loan and there's a penalty of over $13,000 if it's paid off within 3 years. We plan to pay it off in a nfew months when this house sells. So, we are exercising our right of a 3 day cancallation, and will be seeking financing elsewhere.

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

What a bummer!! Well, there are other institutions that probably are waiting to hear from you. Get started first thing Tuesday, in finding alternative financing.

Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)

darius, I just found this thread and shed tears of joy for you.

Congrats my dear.

(gave me hope too)

Darius, I am sure that you are going to find the right financing that you want and need to make this come true. Thinking of you....

Darius
Am saying prayers that all your financial problems will be worked out in a timely manner and things will go smoothly from here on out.
Hugs&blessings ... Elaine

Things are looking up! We had also applied to DiTech and had been approved. They called this morning, they have no prepayment penalty, offered more money and only charge .625% more interest than the other loan. I'm thinking my sister wants to wait and see what her credit union says. She applied there Saturday via the internet, and of course today is a holiday.

Gamleby, Sweden(Zone 7a)

If you dont close this one soon I will not have any nails left on my fingers. Please tell that you go for this loan and close the deal if she doesnt get a better one from her union.......... gonna sit on my hands now untill this nailbiting scare ends :0))
