Getting out of Limbo.... maybe!

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

So Darius, where in Virginia is this place? Someone mentioned Marion, I have friends there.

This looks great. Sure hope you get the financing, and have a deed in your hand soon. Then the real fun( that's pronounced work) begins.

Let me know about the nearest town, would be fun combining visiting friends in Marion, and a visit to you!!.

Keeping my fingers crossed.

Moab, UT(Zone 6b)

oh that's funny, I confess to trying to find walker creek LOL
found Walker mtns and an unnamed creek nearby LOL

Oh, wonderful, Darius has found her home!!! With everything on her list, and some that weren't. Don't remember a covered bridge on the wish list, but it is a definite plus. /;-)

There are many homes in my neighborhood that have a single wide core for the houses they have become. Mayhap a few even pushed the code a little, as a full length raised porch with a good foundation becomes the big room of the house.

has the spring house a long cement basin to cool milk cans in?? that one brought a smile of memory to me. along with the barn and acres of wood lot and a creek ! - major envy from this desert dweller.

AND major happy for you Darius. Your sister's house should prove equity enuff for the escrow at any rate. Then ohmigosh hafta get it on the market.

Darius
Proud you have found a real home, hope all works out.

I know you will have it looking like a show place in a very short time.

Hope all works out for you.

Hugs

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

How wonderful!

Let us know when to send plants...we'll have a housewarming 'plant shower' for you!

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Blooms, the spring house (with the spring flowing through it) has troughs for cooling in the spring water! I plan to put a pipe into the spring with an old fashioned hand pump on the top ( I have one), and maybe even pipe it into the house for drinking water. We'll stay on city water for now.

You are right, the covered bridge wasn't on my list, just a wonderful bonus. The bad side to the bridge is that a moving truck has to stop outside and carry everything by hand to the house. Same with some needed gravel for the driveway.

Bonnie, our address will be Marion. And a DG member (Virginian) is only 20 miles away!

To all of the rest, thanks for the Good Wishes!!! It's a dream about to come through.

Southwestern, OH(Zone 6b)

Keith can help you with Chickens! :-) He was a great help to me!

You're only about 300 miles from here too. :-)

I'm really happy for you Darius, and just think, you will only be limited by what you WANT to grow, not by how much space you have! :-)

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Yep!

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Hi Darius,

Just found this thread through one of your hyperlinks, thanks. lol

I am so happy for you after all this time. I will keep you in my thoughts for getting the loans you need.

The pictures of the whole place are beautiful and after knowing you, will be a gorgeous place within a year. When your ready for plants, just hollar and we will see what we can do to help this place look like home.

Donna

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Darius, Marion, VA, that is great. We make the trip about 2 times a year, and it will be great that I can stop in to see your place for myself. This will be convenient, as I won't have to scheme to get to someplace, just because I want to visit a DG member. DH always says why do you want to go there? LOL

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Bonnie, we will always have a spare bed for you!

Edgewater, MD(Zone 7a)

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

Wow, it looks like a dream come true! It looks like a fantastic area and I bet every season will bring a something beautiful. I can't wait for you to get settled in!!

I just looked up Marion on the map and it would be a perfect location for a RoundUp for the East Tn./West NC folks!

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

Darius, I just removed my extra bleeding heart vine (clerodendrum thomsonaeii) from my swap list and will tag it to go to you!

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Wow, this place looks fantastic!! Home sweet home!

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Oh, wow, Darius -- That's such a neat house, and a nice piece of property! I'm so happy for you being so close to putting down real roots again, friend. :) :)

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

Happy Happy Happy for you and will be far happier when I read the news that your home is truly yours!

Doing the happy dance for ya and waiting till you need plants to fill that area. Hope I can help ya out in that department.

Lani

Edgewater, MD(Zone 7a)

LOL Darius, I checked on RandMcnally.com and it said 6 hours 5 min. I think with planning on my part that is doable and I think DH can live without me for the time to come down and see you at least once.

My good thoughts are going your way for this to happen in good speed and in a very good way. Nothing is more handwringing than having to wait for something you know is already yours and much wanted.

Gamleby, Sweden(Zone 7a)

How could I have missed this. just asked on your stove tread about you and then I went over to Badseed´s tread, what do I find.
WOHOOOOOOO that place looks awesome. Praying big time that the other house get sold quickly so you can close this deal.
Janett

Fort Pierce, FL(Zone 10a)

Oh my gosh, Darius. How on earth did I ever miss this? It's just so perfect...it's a dream come true! I think everybody on DG that knows you ,(most everyone) and knows your story, is as happy for you as if we had found our own dream home, I know I am.

It's so great to find it in a familiar area. Why, you're just over the line from Boone! If I ever get to make a trip back "home" to WNC, I'm coming to see you. And now I'm going to shed a happy tear.

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Pati, we'll always have a spare bedroom for you! Looks like we are about an hour and a half from Boone... no direct roads, LOL! Actually from Asheville over the mountain to Johnson City and up I-81 is only an hour and a half. 30 minutes from Bristol.

Looks like a possibility the kid (my sister's daughter) and her boyfriend may move with us. Pros and Cons... she's a mess but he seems stable. It might be nice to have a strong young man on the property, though. I do know that if they go with us that there will be VERY DIFFERENT house rules!

Cincinnati, OH(Zone 6b)

Darius if anyone deserves this it's you!
(Well me too but hey one can dream! lol)
It appears to be perfectly in tune w/ your wish list.
We got Hostas and other shade plants ready to go!

Hey a root cellar too!
Great place to hang out Auntie Em!
Now I won't have to worry about you not having a 'hunker down'.

Sending VERY positive thoughts!!!!!!!!!!!

DUCK!
Ric (Lovin' that bridge and springhouse)

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Ah, Ric, BIG THANKS!

Chicago, IL(Zone 5b)

Darius,

This sounds so great. When will everything be final....or have I missed something?

Hap

Dillonvale, OH(Zone 6a)

Darius, that is SO totally awesome! I really really hope and pray everything works out for this for you! You deserve it!!

Darius, how wonderful! Now all the ambivalence is over and you can begin planning your dream gardens! I'm happy for you! -- Pat

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Well, it all depends on getting financing. My sister has lots of equity in this house but doesn't make enough money to qualify for an additional loan... and the housing market here has slowed. Since I retired, my income is just social security and my credit is lousy due to so many hospitalizations in the last 2 years.

IF we can find financing until this house sells, we are scheduled to close on the new house June 15.

Chicago, IL(Zone 5b)

Prayers are with you, Darius...

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

Darius, Would they consider a contract for deed? Until your sister's house sells?

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Kathy, I doubt it. The property is very desireable (and underpriced in my opinion) so we didn't even make an offer of less than full price, and no contingencies. I'm sure by now they have back-up contracts. We saw it the first day it was listed, and the next day when we made our contract, there were several more showings on the books.

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

Darius, If it is meant to be, then it will happen. Many prayers and wishes for you. Kathy

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Have had some promising hope today. The mortgage company where my sister has had a first mortgage for 7 years is considering a home equity loan. We should have heard before noon but my sister is away at a Child Support meeting. (The kid's father, in Arkansas, who is behind in payments.)

Fort Pierce, FL(Zone 10a)

Crossing fingers, whispering prayers.

Here holding my breath, also. :)
