Texas Roundup TRADING LIST
Of course, it's OK that you posted. I look forward to meeting you! I have lots of Tx Star and Red Zinger hibiscus, but unfortunately my Oct rose is spoken for. I can get the staghorn fern with no problem at all from my neighbor. I'm not sure how many golden manihots I have.
I'm sorry you lost plants in the hurricane. That would be very sad. I was thinking about that hurricane today as the storm was blowing my plants around. I didn't lose any plants, but I think one of my plant poles is no longer straight.:( Mild compared to what you lost. I had just trimmed my seedlings and it's a good thing. All that wind would have been much harder to take if they had still been so tall. Hope to see you at the RU.
Hey Sandy you just got to be there! if you dont remember me, I use to be Sedrick. ... whom sent you the secret Coleus plants or better still the Picture Plant. How is yours doing? Mine is long gone.
Sylvia
Sheila_FW, If you still have a cereus, I would like one please. Silverfluter, I'll look at my seedlings to see and will let you know tomorrow. If I do, I'd like to trade for the Mex. key lime.
And....Hyacinth bean vine (Dolichos lablab). I have a few plants and a bunch of beans. This is the one at the Renaissance Festival at Plantersville that everyone goes ga-ga over. I grow this every year and in late summer and through fall, it is a car stopper.... This is a picture taken AFTER hurrican Rita came through. You can see the Montezuma Cypress in the background. The top 5 feet are hanging down. We had to run a supporting stake all the way up the trunk and fasten it so it would go upright....It is still in that "corset".
Bettydee,
Yes, I will put your name on a couple starts of the Night Blooming Cereus.
Did you still have the rooted Brug cutting? I would love to have it. You may have missed my post back a few.
ilovejesus,
I feel left out, is there anything I can offer you to fill your truck? LOL! Check my post back about 25 or so.
Silverflutter,
I went back and put the links in the post abou the Amaryllis, I think it is the one you have.

Sheila, you have the amaryllis I have, or you want the one I have?
Cj, if you have an extra black princess taro, I would like one please. I think your orchid cactus is the same one I have that hasn't bloomed in awhile. Do I already have your name on something? Hope so.
Bettydee, I'll put your name on the Mex Key Lime anyway.
Mary Lee
CeeJay I didnt know the Black Toro was a Alacosia! Do you bring it in when its cold? Is it in Shade? I would like one too if you have one left. :)
Sylvia
Ceejaytown, that is a gorgeous picture!! I would stop my car, too. I wish I had more sunlight!!! If I could just get my neighbor to move her (50+ foot) ash tree a little to the right... LOL
Mary Lee,
The Amaryllis that I posted the link on is the one I have. They are in full bloom now.
I think it was Sylvia_City that was wanting Oxblood Lilies. I can't keep up with where I planted those, they come and go so fast. I need to mark them next time they bloom.
Sheila, yes that is the one I have. I think I have Oxblood lilies too and I know which bed they're in, but I don't know exactly where in that bed.
I went back to Sylvia's post...she just said 'blood lilies'. So I am not sure if that is the one she is talking about. Anyway, if it is, she may have to wait until the fall swap so we know where to did!! LOL!
Sheila_FW, yes I have a number of them. I'll take them and you can have your pick.
Sylvia - I said it was an Alocasia? Well, I was wrong. It is Colocasia jensii - softer leaves. And I leave it in the ground to overwinter. It comes back. Don't know about your zone. Might be best to try it out - dig up some and store, plant some in a pot for indoors, leave some others out. Then we'll know for sure :-) Do you still want some?
CJ
DH and I have been talking. Would you all forgive me if we came and I did not have anything to trade?
If things work out we would love to come.
I won't make a list of wants, unless I can get together a few things.
What kind of food do we need to bring if we get to come.?
Blessings,
Sandy ^8^
Mary Lee... I think I'd like to try one of your amaryllis...those things are hardy here? I'm continually amazed at what things will survive winter down here...zone shock I guess you could call it....lol.
:) Kim
Kim, I'll put you down for hardy amaryllis. As far as I know they are. They sure are here. I don't know how they react to wet winters in clay soil though. Maybe a mastergardener like Cj would know?
Throneofyord....or Bob, please pick some items from my trade post (Apr 18, 2006 11:49 PM) and put me down for one each of your Barret Strawn, Scarlet Lady, & Bayou Tiger iris. I have a pond and plan to put a bog near by also. I only have the darker purple now.
Look forward to meeting you in CS.
Well, let's put it this way: We grow them here in the ground, and we certainly have wet winters (usually). I would put them in a raised bed with soil that has been amended with some nice fluffly organic matter, however. Not directly into the nasty ground. Only trees and some large shrubs should suffer that fate! And lawn grass....Well, some groundcovers, too. Now I'm fudging! LOL
Would everybody do me a favor please. Check my Haves/Wants list and see if you've asked for anything that I forgot to make a note of. I don't want to leave anybody's plants behind. Or if you see something else you want please tell me.
Mary Lee
Mary Lee, I checked your list and you have me down exactly right, good job.
Josephine.
Mine looks good too...thanks again Mary Lee! The soil here is very sandy...no clay, but all the same needing ammending. I've been working compost into all the beds I have been making. I've got 3 now, two along the side of the house and one in the backyard.
Kim
Kim, your energy level is way beyond me. I pretty much finished digging all the beds I have about 3 years ago. I think I need a couple years more to recover still.:) I think about digging more beds and then I think about needing to clean out the ones I have and then I think HHHHMMMMMM, maybe not?LOL I think I need to fill the beds I have with plants that will keep the weeds out. Margie told me that if you have weeds in your beds, you don't have enough plants.:) That's what RU's are for!
LOL!! Then I need to go to a whole bunch more RUs!! LOL!
Mary Lee, The Sunburst coreopsis are very small, but you can have a number of them for a Red Zinger hibiscus and a TX Star. I struck out on finding any of the ferns and the sage you were after. Is there anything else that you would like?
Well, I'll try the drummond's phlox. I've never tried any kind of phlox, but experiments are fun. What kind do you have?
Mary Lee
PS Bettydee I put you down for 1 Mex Buckeye. What kind of Brugmansias do you have?
This message was edited Apr 22, 2006 7:00 PM
The native red Drummond Phlox. I'll have to go into the greenhouse tomorrow to get the names of the ones I have. I'll post the names tomorrow. Thank you for putting me down on the Mex. Buckeye.
Yes that was me who wanted the Ox Blood Lilies. Some gave me four of them in Arlington and I put them in a new pot and forgot to punch out the draining holes! :(
Ceejay I assumed they were Alacosias because they look like one of the Alacosias in the Springhill catalog. ...and yes I would love some. ...thanks! :)
If anyone want to remind me what i am supposed to bring them, that will be just fine, I was potting up the trailing sedums yesterday and started thinking, if I have enough i will bring extras. Also I got a couple yard objects I am bringing too. I got to start working on my food list too. I am making three or four things. I think we need something more hearty than chip and dips! LOL ....but thats just me, I am usually the one that that throws the party. LOL
I am so excited and I got so much going on this week. I got to go St Lukes in Irving Monday night after work. I am the sponser for my friend's son confirmation. She says I have no choice ... I am the only Catholic she can find in good standing! LMBO! She says in her culture its make me a member of the family ... Oh No! I told her. This is a fate worse than death! LOL I gotta love her though ... she tried to help me dig up that Vitex! LOL
I have been cleaning up the backyard and repotting some things...and I decided to offer up an agave that I have. It's a lighter green color with sharp dark colored spines, I believe it is hardy here. It spent the winter outside in a pot and is a little beat up but otherwise ok. I want to eventually make a cactus and succulent bed but I don't think I will be getting to it this year, and everywhere I put this thing I ended up getting speared by it. Also got a few aloe pups, 3 multicolored ones and 2 or 3 gasteraloe "royal highness". Neither of those are hardy I'm sure.
Sylvia...I hear you about being busy this week. I've got a good bit of lab work going on right now, a final next week (and of course I won't be studying for it this coming weekend...lol), a trip to Houston Wed, and I need to do some baking for this weekend as well. Oh and clean the house! I believe you had me down for some sedums, just as a reminder for you.
Mary Lee....if it isn't too much trouble I'd like to try the russian sage as well, and maybe one of the other hibiscus too if there are any left? Oh goodness...at first I was shy about asking anyone for anything and now look at me....just shameless...see what you people have done to me? Lol....
:) Kim
Kim, first of all, I'm one of the sloppiest housekeepers I know. We'll be leaving a dirty house, and certainly won't be expecting to visit a clean house! So don't be nervous about getting your house clean.:) And yes, you can have some Russian sage. I was hoping somebody would ask for some, because I have some I really need to dig up. I still have lots of hibiscus, except for Oct rose. Those are all taken I think. Any other takers on Russian sage. It's a wonderful plant.
Mary Lee
I will take some. What is it? LOL Is it to cook with?
KIM what kind of Sedum? Oh my, I am so embarresed.
This message was edited Apr 23, 2006 3:14 PM
Russian sage is not for cooking as far as I know, but it's a beautiful plant for hot dry areas. I haven't watered mine in years and it's in full sun. It's in the plants files. Just type russian sage in the common name spot. I would give you the link, but everytime I try that it doesn't work. Don't know what I do wrong. I'm very surprised that it has not reseeded, but it does send up babies about 1 foot away from the Mom plant. They are very easy to pull up if you don't want them.
Sylvia, I just looked up those hostas you mentioned. They're huge! I'll just plant a couple of those in my front yard and there won't be any room for grass! That would suit me just fine. DH won't cut anyway. Sylvia do you use beer to kill slugs, etc? If I start plantin' these huge hostas, my neighbors are not going to recognize my house!lol
Do anyone have any Four O'CLOCKS? I need some for the japanesse beetles. Or is that something you start from seed?
Marylee which names are you referring to? What I am bringing is Royal Standard and Variegated Undulatas. Anything else you will have to wait until fall.
Marylee you dont want me to tell you what I use for Slugs, its illegal and you can only buy it in upstate Florida or Canada! We will discuss at the RU. LOL
Sylvia
Sylvia, I will put you on my list for 4 O'Clocks. I have some popping up where they shouldn't be. Hope color isn't important, since I dont' have a clue which are which. Most of mine were Fushia pink.
Thank you Shelia! Marylee that Russian Sage is so pretty! I can put it out front and let it go crazy! Is that a Texas native? I am really getting into this native stuff! Dont tell Josephine, but I thought it was bunch weeds from out in the wild! LOL I cant wait for my yellow thingey start blooming! I am very upset with the property manager because they put that dumpster in that open space next to my place. I am going to plant it there so it will eventually camaflouge that Dumpster. lol
Sylvia
I hope I am keeping straight what I have promised to everyone on my list near the top of this thread. If anyone sees that I have failed to put your name on something you have asked me for, please let me know! And if you have not asked, but see plants on my list you could use, tell me!
Sylvia, way up this thread, you've got me down for a collection of your trailing sedums and some Lemon Lime and stonecrop, and I'm bringing you obedient plant "Pink Bouquet,' apple mint, cannas 'Red Stripe,' salvia 'Lady in Red,' hosta 'Birchwood Parky's Gold,' and hosta 'Invincible.'
If I could stay on task when I go outside, I might finish the digging and potting for the RU, but I get distracted by pulling a few weeds here and watering a bit over there. This afternoon the hammock called my name very loudly!
Mary Lee,
I would love some russian sage and any and all colors of hibiscus.
Does anyone just bring unrooyed cuttings in water or ?
I have night blooming Jasmine that needs cut back, an ornamental plum, a fruitless pomegranate, a single confederate rose.
I have
orange crocosmia,
a few small unknown color crepe myrtles,
1 small mimosa,
peruvian lily (green and red)http://davesgarden.com/pf/showimage/16729/
purple wisteria
I will see what else I may have.
Blessings,
Sandy ^8^
